I knew even before the opening credits that the music would be especially lovely on this one,but not just the music that you write and compose,it's the filming and editing, the narration and presentation and as always it all comes together to make a beautiful film, watched it on the big screen with the volume up and the 22 minutes flew by,thanks Patrick 👍
A beautiful walk through a mysterious landscape Patrick. I had never heard of the Nine Stone Circle, nor of Robin Hood's Stride before. you are truly blessed to have these treasures on your doorstep.
That was quite a walk you did there. I find it amazing just how many old stone circle's we have scattered across our countryside. Most think we only have Avebury and stonehenge. Great to see you out and about. You have some beautiful walk's nearby, that thanks to your effort's, we all get to come along too. Lovely to watch, as always. Cheers.
Thanks Patrick for the lovely walk! It reminds me when I studied abroad in England in 1989/90. I am from the States and I do admire your beautiful land. Kind regards and blessings, Ken C
Really gorgeous West Derbyshire countryside, Patrick. These two lead mining villages of Winster and Elton have old buildings of character. The Hall and Market house are two gems of buildings in Winster itself. Nine Stone Close standing stones look imposing where they're situated, and Robin Hood's Stride is an amazing outcrop of gritstone rocks on the hillside there, which I'm sure would tempt most people to venture to. The views around like you say are most excellent, and also seeing the village of Youlgreave in the distance is fantastic. Many thanks for this presentation, Patrick.
Thanks again for watching Ffranc. I love Winster and Elton, and they are only up the road from home. The Nine Stone Close stones are impressive even though there are only four of them 😁 Worth a visit to Robins Hoods Stride too even for the views themselves. All the best 👍
That was fabulous, I loved it. I have visited places all over Derbyshire but somehow missed Winster and Elton and hadn't even heard of Robin Hoods stride so these need to be on a list of places to visit next time we are in the area. Thanks for a great upload Patrick. Oh by the way this has to be amongst your finest music scores too.
Hi Patrick. You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful location. Thanks for the great video. It brought back a happy memory of a week I spent in Winster in 2014 as a house-swap. My daughter bought some goat's cheese in the little community-run shop and still to this day she says it is the best she has ever tasted.
Thanks Del, pleased you enjoyed it. Yes I do feel lucky to live in this area. That's worth knowing regarding the shop in Winster, like a bit of nice cheese myself! 👍
Another great film Patrick. That area is a beautiful one to walk isn’t it? I did a very similar route recently with my wife. I love some of the pretty villages like Winster, Elton and Youlgreave. All have their own unique character. Being even shorter than yourself, I need a helping hand on those old stone styles! They stand the test of time though and don’t become wobbly like the wooden equivalents 😆
Many thanks Anthony. It sure is a beautiful one, not bad for my backyard eh? 😊 Yes I like Youlgreave too. I agree that, although those old stone stiles can be a bit challenging for those of us with shorter legs, they were certainly built to last. All the best 👍
Well Patrick i missed this one going through your video's bring back memory's we did exactly the same walk in the same year staying in Elton brilliant it was mind you the the " duke of York" was never open when we were there, but was a wonderful week. I was like a big kid climbing up Robin hood stride it was fantastic !!
I could write a book about the variety of stiles that I have encountered over the years! The best ones have a "dog access" incorporated within it..that is for sure! Lovely video.
The settlements, landmarks and countryside you saw during this walk looks stunning! Winster has a lot of ancient buildings, like the old Market House and Winster Hall, and Elton has a great parish church and pub (Duke of York). There's a pub by Ludlow called the Castle Inn in Richard's Castle and it doesn't look like its open either, since it looks like a house and the entrance door is shut mostly. Nine Stones Close and Robin Hood's Stride have fantastic views, and for the tall stone stiles you came across, I would possibly manage them since I'm over 6 feet tall haha. The piccolo and choir soundtracks sound perfect as usual, and I'm looking forward to more films in the future! :-)
Thanks for your great comments as always. Yeah you'd manage those step stiles no problem! 😊 Many thanks for all your support and for taknig the time to watch 👍
Excellent Patrick..These walks are really enjoyable without even having to leave our house....Thank you so much for showing us your beautiful part of the country ...Until the next time take care and stay safe regards Frank & Lee....
This walking tour is excellent & very informative. If not with your video I would never have any idea about this place. So peaceful Lovely and relaxing to watch as well.
Winster is lovely Patrick. You certainly are fortunate to have such a great walk on your doorstep. I was thinking, 'I love England/Britain.' I mean where else in the world can you find a house that will let you in and drink? Splendid as were them standing stones something else I associate with this country although Northern Europe does have them. Well, I missed this one but happy to sit back and enjoy now. Thanks Patrick a special end to the day indeed. Mark
Thanks Mark, yes this walk from Winster is great to have close by. Great to be able to have a drink in a house isn't it? One of the many ingredients that makes our country special. Yeah there's loads of stanning stones around here too, and the great thing about them is they nearly all have names of some sorts. Glad you enjoyed this one Mark and as always thanks for watching. All the best to you 👍
@@solitaryrambler A pleasure Patrick as always. Yes, it is what makes our country special. Love it very much. As for the stones them names are evocative indeed. Another unique trait. It's fairly pleasant here. Have a good evening.
good morning Patrick, hope you are well. I have really enjoyed this film today and i am looking forward to more of your films in the future. Have a great weekend.
Fantastic stuff Patrick. I'm there with you on lots of these walks. I'm from Derbyshire originally and you capture the essence of the Peak District beautifully. Thanks for sharing and best wishes, a real professional job.
You live in beautiful area , Winston village looks very pretty , the Duke of York pub doesn't look very inviting it looks more like a large house , a lovely walk again Patrick ready for lots more now we are back out , thanks for your time and effort .
It was a long time ago when I was in the Duke of York, but it was nice inside despite not looking inviting from the outside. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Not familiar with Winster or Elton, but interesting to learn more about the area. I agree needing long legs to climb over styles. I'm always struggling to get over with my short legs. Soothing music hear.
Yes I struggle with some of those stiles, but as I mentioned in this it's all part of the fun of a day's walk! 😂 Thanks for your kind words and for watching 👍
@@solitaryrambler Cheers. I've watched a few already. Got my map out and been planning one or two walks based on your videos. Lived in Buxton, Derbyshire all my life and there's stil plenty of paths I haven't trekked yet. Great stuff, thoroughly enjoy them.
Oh such a lovely area. The village of Elton sounded awfully familiar, and then I realised it was mentioned in Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice'. I'm 5'2", so iI would have had trouble with that stile.
"Cream Crackered"? Good one Patrick 😂 Was the sandwich a cheese and pickle again? I was delighted to see another post. Derbyshire has such beautiful landscape. You are blessed to live amongst it. Anticipating the next one Friend! BTW. Happy upcoming birthday. Cheers
Many thanks. Ah so you're having that issue with the maps too? There must be a glitch with OS Maps just now. I emailed OS about it yesterday as I can't open my own maps either 👍

If ever up there, close t'stones, keep th'eyes open for the trumpeteer and fiddler, youths dressed in dark garb.

14.28 left of screen, strange dark figure dashes out from the tree 😮
Right where the stone circle is.
Spooky! 😮

Appreciate the time and effort into these video's. Hopefully you post very soon ( selfishly I'd love to see more of your work on Dartmoor ) .
I won't be in Dartmoor anytime soon sadly as it's just so far away from where I live, but thank you so much for your kind comments and for watching 👍
Great walk again.. Loved it.. Many thanks x

You’re welcome, thanks for watching 😊
Hello, Patrick. Discovered your TH-cam channel a couple of weeks ago, really love it! Keep up the good work.
