The first time I played The True Arena and I saw the opening cutscene, I thought the final boss was just regular Marx. I said "No sweat, I've fought him before, I can do it again." Then one day, during one of my several tries, my younger brother (who had his own copy of Super Star Ultra) comes up to me and says "Redlion, I made it to the last boss! Yes, it's Marx, but he's stronger!" Not long after, and after I finally beat Galacta Knight, I get to the last rest area. I look at Marx's picture on the bottom screen, and immediately I notice there's something different about him: Mouth hanging open, eyes in different directions, wings a darker color, pointy shoes. I thought "My brother was right. I wonder how Marx got like that." Then I saw the cutscene, and my jaw dropped when it got to Marx's transformation. "Oh my God, he's back from the dead!", I thought, a realization which was made even clearer to me when his new name was revealed: "Marx Soul". Long story short, he kicked my ass a bunch of times, but I eventually managed to kill him. The death screech didn't shock me all that much, since I had heard it and Marx Soul's other sounds before in the Sound Test (but didn't know where they came from).
There always seems to be homage to Marx in the later games, recently Planet Robobot when you fight the heart of Star Dream, it's attacks are basically the same as Marx's' and I was like "Oh god, i've experienced this somewhere before haven't I?" It also has a dark and unsettling cry when it crumbled aswell, nowhere near as bad as Marx's if you wear headphones, it's unholy.
Mr Mad Mothy The sad part is, it's Haltmann's last piece of (somehow not deleted) soul screaming. And now he'll never know about what really happened to his daughter. Never thought I'd be feeling pity for any final boss having anything to do with Marx Soul and the Nova again.

this is marx after being “softened,” according to sakurai. he used to be a lot creepier. imagine how nightmarish he must’ve been if _this_ is watered-down. if he was too dark for _kirby’s_ exceptionally low standards.
The boss fight itself isn't maximum level hard, but to get to the fight is. Oh god it took me so long to get to marx soul, let alone beat him due to the limited health I had. Definitely one of the most difficult gaming experiences I've had.

Gerson Acevedo Witches in Madoka got nothing on this (though that scream when Madoka turned into a witch is on par with what is supposed to be Marx).
There always seems to be homage to Marx in the later games, recently Planet Robobot when you fight the heart of Star Dream, it's attacks are basically the same as Marx's' and I was like "Oh god, i've experienced this somewhere before haven't I?" It also has a dark and unsettling cry when it crumbled aswell, nowhere near as bad as Marx's if you wear headphones, it's unholy.

The boss fight itself isn't maximum level hard, but to get to the fight is. Oh god it took me so long to get to marx soul, let alone beat him due to the limited health I had. Definitely one of the most difficult gaming experiences I've had.
