I love how supportive Lia is, when Yuna was speaking she didn't use the right precise English words but the message went across. And instead of correcting her, Lia kept nodding and smiling her way to encourage her to keep speaking. I just find it very endearing tbh.
I thought the same, but I noticed she was encouraging everyone on their English, with a little more attention to Yuna because she's the youngest and they're roommates. Lia really seemed happy and proud when the other members were trying hard to speak English, it's cute

This is a common thing !! A lot of Korean and Japanese speakers have a lower voice when speaking in English and vice versa
Yes her korean is in a higher pitch
Usually people speak in a lower voice when they're more relaxed - i.e speaking in their mother tongue. So Lia's Korean should be lower than English. Makes me think that she is told to make her voice higher when speaking Korean. I saw a video when they were trainees where this coach told Ryujin to make her voice higher when she raps.
@@hsnrb9959 Its probably just the fact that even foreigners who try to learn Korean or even Japanese also usually get a higher pitched voice. Some languages just automatically cause that for the majority of people. I have a deep voice and it also get high pitched in Japanese and most asian languages, its nothing rare. You can go back to Lia's song covers from before itzy debut and see her real voice, its still not as deep in Korean.

it's actually pretty common when switching between languages! lots of asian words tend to have a higher, lighter-toned intonation, whereas english intonation is heavier. the same thing happens to me between english and mandarin! 💕

When people learn english they will understand it when reading or hearing others first but speaking is the most difficult part. So she speaks in broken English but that line was probably intentional
@@allysonabarca4137 As an English teacher that teaches Koreans I can almost definitely assure you she didnt understand the context 😂 that's why Lia added her answer and Lia the more natural speaker had a proper answer. Language isn't just about understanding what words are said, especially English. Often foreigners miss the context of some questions and phrases in English, this is a common one.

Yeji is fierce as hell on stage but gives me the most shy off stage, I really like lia’s personality, she’s so lively but when I first saw itzy I thought she was the cold reserved less talkative one but boy was I wrong, they all have lovely personalities but I keep going back to yeji she seems like the more quiet shy one off stage but I still love her cute fierce self, all these girls are great and so cute and their english has gotten so good especially ryujin
