Your youthful smiling faces always cheer me up. I know you can't be half as wholesome and kind as you seem, but it cheers me up to think there is still some foreign field I could hope, one day, to call home. You sound nice too.
Loved this, you should do more like this from time to time. Have a lovely Christmas and luck in the mud New Year. Great to see you cooking, giving Nigella a run for her money.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! More professional than the professionals! Thank you for the inspiration. My Chinese inlaws always offer us moon cake at Chinese New Year... It's delicious ❤
@@RomanFound I'm making a good old fashioned Dundee cake and Sausage rolls right now. But... defo checking out these recipes for next year. What a gift! Thank you ❤️
It's the Christmas pud that will always get my vote. It will for ever have such a very special place in my heart, all due to family culture that I was raised with. My grand parents on my Mum's side were very much traditional living people. They came from mid Hampshire and still spoke with the full on local accent that has now almost been lost forever. It was my dearly missed granny that was a true wonder in the kitchen. If you said to her "so many grams of this and that" she'd stare at you not having the tiniest notion of what you meant. Never in all the years I knew her did she use, or even own a set of scales. If it looked about the right amount then that was the amount used. Her cooking was as though it came from a farm house kitchen, and everyone loved all she produced. They were genuine commoners, meaning they had right to use land in ways that many today would be very envious of, have geese, pigs and goats roaming around, but not far enough away that they couldn't keep an eye on them. Rabbit , pigeon and pheasant was a frequent visitor to the table when I was a lad. Year in and year out, they would have the entire family come together for a feast at Christmas time, gran and grandad, their three daughter and the seven grandkids. And without fail, grandad got the shilling in his pud and custard. It was when I was about 10 that all us grandkids started to notice that only grandad got the shilling, and no one else. I couldn't believe it, that very next Christmas, I got the shilling, and then so did my cousin, and then all us grandkids had one. It was just so wonderful, and then grandad said "Hello, what's this" talking around an object in his mouth. Grandad didn't get the shilling. No, he got 50p.... And so t you have just one of a thousand stories I could share about my grandad, and his countless little teases and harmless practical joke he played on the grandkids he doted on. He was a great influence and a hero to me and my cousins. We're all getting on now. but remember him with great fondness. So yeah, it can only be Christmas pud for me. Have a wonderful Christmas ladies. TTFN
The Christmas pud is always up there isn’t it 🙌 thank you for such a wonderful snippet of your upbringing it is wonderful how food and traditions can bring out so many stories 🥰 grandad sounds like he could’ve taught us all a few tricks on finding that sixpence! Or 50p! Thank you for sharing your tales and for leaving such a brilliant comment as always Graham it’s a pleasure to read your tales 🙌🤎merry Christmas! 🎄
Well done ladies great video as always. When I was a child my Nan would put sixpence in our Christmas puddings even tho they were long gone out of circulation. Was a magical moment finding them. Brings back so many happy memories of a special lady who lived till she was 101. Those dumplings looked good too. Happy Christmas 🎄
Thank you! What an iconic and incredible lady your Nan sounds like keeping the sixpence tradition alive 🙌🥰 happy Christmas and glad we could bring back some happy memories 😊
This was so fun and I loved learning about these traditions, and the recipes are easy enough even for me so I am def going to be trying them all. Here’s just a little thank you for always top-notch content. I hope you both have a lovely Christmas and a Roman-filled New Year!
Thank you so much, that’s incredibly kind of you! 🤎 The recipes are a lot more simple than they look! We’ll be putting them up on our website today too! I think we’ll be trying to squeeze in one more dig before the years out! 😂 So fingers crossed for one more Roman!! Have a lovely Christmas!!🤞🤎
In Canada we make the famous or "infamous" 😂 fruit cake for holidays. Some like it , some hate it. I love your videos , always a good way to relax in the evening. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Joyeux Noël at you both and all your viewers. ⛄🎄
Now we love the sound of this fruitcake! Sounds like one we should look into 👀 thank you for your kind words and very merry Christmas to you glad your loving the videos 🙌❤️
Ok,this video is nothing short of brilliant, how you worked the coin connection to holiday traditions. I laughed my butt off when you cheated, and used a detector to find the sixpence in the pudding🤣 I really need to try one of those puddings one day. The dumplings,ah! There is a beloved family that runs the local Chinese restaurant in my town. I have watched little children running around behind the counter, they are now all grown up,they run the place now. Best dumplings ever. AND,the mom,who is now in her 60’s,makes the most insane almond cookies. I have rarely seen a customer walk in,and not order a dozen or so cookies, they melt in the mouth, and are a perfect companion to a cuppa tea! Literally the only time anyone sees me eating chocolate is during the holidays,as Gelt is a tradition that we borrowed from the Hanukkah tradition. People marvel at my willpower in not eating chocolate any other time of year, not even Easter! I wish you both the happiest and most prosperous of Christmases, and extend that to all your family and friends as well! 🥰
Of course we were going to whip the pinpointer out to search for that sixpence got to get a touch of the digging in there! 😝🤣 those do sound like the best dumplings ever! Maybe we need some tips from her on our pleating skills 👀🤓 we too are in awe of your chocolate willpower 🙏 a very merry Christmas to you Charles thank you for such a lovely comment as always 🙌🥰
A wonderful episode! I enjoyed learning about all these coin-related holiday traditions. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Back in the early '60's, in Kernow, Granny 'Wenna never put a tanner in the Crimbo pud, nor did our Granny Alice Lily either: herself went heavier on the Irish whiskey. I prefer whiskey. It slides down, 'The Old Red Lane' better'n coinage does😉. "One-eyed, with a wobbly on; aged five😵💫. Neither ladies "admired" The Crown, yet both made grand clotted cream on the range, which no tanner could buy. Great to watch you two ladies keep up your festive culinary traditon👍. Bleddy ansum! "Nadelik Lowen", both🏴☠.
