    Excellence is an art crafted by training and practice. We do not act rightly because we have excellence, but we have excellence because we have acted rightly. Any changes one desires, must be realised and done through action, for we will get something in life, it all depends on the purity of our intentions and how well we put our efforts to move forward.

      Your comment perfectly encapsulates the video's message. Excellence comes from consistent practice and right actions, as both stoicism and Musashi's teachings emphasize. True change requires intentional effort and pure intentions, aligning with the idea that we control our path through disciplined actions.

    Don't be dicks- is all were supposed to do. Every moment is another chance to stop being dicks to one another and alll creation.
    If everyone stopped being dicks right this second - cancer and all affliction would disappear.
    And leave people alone for whatever they practice to find joy and happiness! Unless it's causing damage, inflicting harm, taking from or having residual negative effects to others as a result- leave it and them alone!!!!
    Everything in moderation, seek joy, and be kind.
    It's the exact message Jesus, Jung, Watts, and many others were trying to teach...
    Everything in moderation, seek joy, and be kind.
    EVERYTHING at our disposal is a gift untill it's abused or used to impede others growth, health or happiness.
    Every vice was only intended to be enjoyed for what it was- not to be the focal point and single drive in someone's existing.

    Stoicism does not confront trauma and ptsd

    • @ryuhadouken2722
      @ryuhadouken2722 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      Well it does by embracing it and acknowledging it. There is no real cure of PTSD. You either grow out of it or continue to suffer from it. Stoicism is heavily focused on letting things go on top of not worrying about things you have no control over.
      Marcus Aurelius and even miyamoto musashi both heavily focused on deep meditation which is one of the best things to do both individually and during therapy.
      Relying on drugs and alcholo to quell the issue is one of the worst ways to cope with PTSD. It’s a form of additional stress on the body because you now become an alcoholic or an addict.
      Even though weed or alcohol can ease the pain it’s not a permanent fix and later can become something worse than what you currently are now.
      I know certain individuals who rely on it so much that taking it away makes them not only mentally break down but also physically from severe shaking/siezures, extreme behavior, physical actions of violence and lastly desperate measures to regain what addictions you have in any means necessary including hurting others to gain it. Which can hurt relations and do nothing but put you in a deeper hole.
      Best remedy of PTSD are the following:
      Accept it and acknowledge it.
      Retrace how and why you got it.
      Learn to let go of it and what has happened because you cannot go back in time.
      Lastly do NOT and I say again do not rely on medication or substances as a form of cure. It will only make it worse and make you a slave for it.

      @ryuhadouken2722 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I suggest you watch last samurai with Tom cruise in it.
      He is a soldier with PTSD and goes through alcholo heavily. Until he is captured and taken prisoner from the samurai. He then goes to detoxification for months. He later improves because he begins to talk and understand why he has ptsd and learns to let it all go. He then learns bushido the way of the warrior. It’s a beautiful scene and even explains that all men who have seen what they have seen go through.

      I too have PTSD, I sometimes wish for my end but I stop and I remember. I stop and look around me and see what I have achieved. Now I have a home, I have a family, I don’t drink or smoke or anything.

    This video is all wrong: Why you want to live a life that unbeatable? You want a life with Agency and Gratitude. Those two traits will bring you true happiness.

    The notion of 'niceness' implies personal responsibility. This two plus hours of video does nothing for 'nice' people, in a system that still looks to exploit them. In a society where it is normal to take as much as you can get, and share as little as you can, people who by their nature tend to give, end up at the bottom.
    If you want to really mean something to those who naturally give instead of take, teach the takers to take less. Why not try to make them more sensible to the needs of others?
    Address the other side for ones.
    This video is, maybe unwittingly, just part of the problem and holds no solution whatsoever. All and all, it's just victim blaming.
