Really helpful tutorial. I first watched this a long time ago, but just couldn't figure it out, but now I've returned and I'm able to not only do nils consistently, but I'm also able to do combos, including a 0-death! This video also taught me some other steve stuff like the fact you can turn around in a jab loop. Thanks!
Amazing tutorial!! Really helped me with getting NIL3 somewhat down :))) For future tutorials, I lowkey recommend a controller input image at the corner, so you really have an emphasis on how fast the inputs are for certain tech rather than frame data (for casuals like me 😅). Clean tech showcase as always!
Very interesting use of nil3, I've only used it for back throw cheese and a movement mixup for the wierd sliding elytra tech, I've used traditional nil1/2 ladders for a few months now, im curious to try the new timings you've shown, when I tried nil3 out of full hop rising upair, I always struggled to covert it to stocks, I'll try implement this ASAP, cheers rockman
shoutouts for including some of the non-US-standard stages like Kalos and Hollow. even though i never pick PS2, i might start using it so my steve opponents can't NIL as easily!
i dont understand how to be consistent with nil 3 when hitting people with it. nil 3 without hitting people is so much easier. Also, how do u know when to ladder with NIL 3 instead of NIL 2s?
You mainly need to delay the timing of NIL3 slightly in order to get it while hitting them. And I mainly use NIL3 over NIL2 near ledge (since up airs send them more horizontally) or in percents where an up air can reach when an up tilt can’t
While a NIL combo itself does not kill at 0, if the opponent is at about 30-50% (depending on weight+tool type) as well as the Steve’s reaction time to SDI/DI, then they can be guaranteed kills at insanely early percents
a bumper to set to jump and w/e jump button you use, pressing those at the same time have helped me a lot. i hear flicking the jump button to SH is really beneficial but too challenging for me to be consistent with
Steve is like Melee. Has more tech than anything of its kind, but is utterly hated by anyone who doesnt play it.
there's no reason to hate melee if you don't play it tho
no one hates melee just melee players

Best lesson on NIL that I've found
This was so helpful, I really wanted to learn how to NIL but no guides really helped, but this helped a lot! Thanks!

I’ll definitely put that into consideration for my next guide.

Very good mate, well done. TBC and PBR next? :D
That’s the plan ^^
I was waiting for this thnx bro
You’re the best, rockman.
That song in the intro is so nostalgic for me.
Well made video!

LETS GOOO
Do NOT let Acola find this💀
Acola knows Nils. It’s just he never utilizes them in some matchups.
@@ImCookieSparxI’m mean you can see that he messes them up most of the time, but is consistently getting better at them
@@ImCookieSparx And Pocket? (You know, Onin). He knows about NILs?
Too late

Great video! Hopefully we see even more steve players utilize nil combos because of this!
what control set up do you use? also literally wtf this is broken
On the combo, how can you turn around after an up air to hit the back air?
It’s a Steve trick known as TBC. I’ll be releasing a guide on it soon ^^
COACH ME ROCKMAN
is there a tutorial for lylat platform nils? aus has lylat legal and would be good to know
Is NIL combos a guaranteed touch of death?

@@RockManSSB okay thanks for the reply
Yippee
Is NIL possible with tap jump?
Yes it is, the only thing that matters is that you input the double jump and special at the right time
@RockManSSB, can you try it and make a video off of it, please?
man im tryna learn nils why do I have to watch myself get clipped 😭😭😭
How do I know on which frame am I on tho
Do you need specific button mapping for this bc I’m kinda stumped
You don’t need any specific button mapping, it’s just a matter of timing
@@RockManSSB Oh, I’m a guy who sucks at short hopping so I’m struggling a bit, but Ty :)

I'm not signed up for this type of stuff💀🙏
