    My university was clearing out excess math books they had that nobody wanted and i managed to grab a copy of Strang's Introduction to Linear Algebra signed in the front and addressed to an old professor i had who's since retired.
    I've been working through more sophisticated applied linear algebra in the lead up to quantum mechanics and want to thank dr Strang for such a wonderful resource. I doubt he'll see this but i hope someone does

      Hey @eqwerewrqwerqre, I am a sophomore student doing CSE and am very interested and wanted to learn about quantum mechanics, and I don't know where to start, can you point me to some books or channels on YT.

    When I was doing Technology in Sweden, we used his book as our main text for linear algebra. He is a great mathematician.

    Wait! Is this why in differential equations, to solve we always need both a particular solution and a homogeneous solution????!?!?!?!?

    • @ronicave8522
      @ronicave8522 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Indeed. That part of finding solutions to second order differential equations makes a lot more sense with linear algebra in mind.

    I still do not get what does it mean the V complete is equal to v particular + v null?? is that the same as saying that Rank+nullity= n? Please anyone?

    v is the paint still in the can and A is the painter... Some low rank painters (like me) can paint only a straight line, others can paint only a wall and the complete ones can paint the whole 3D space by throwing the v-paint anywhere they want.

    What is the basis and dimension of the span of a system that is inconsistent?

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think we first should determine what kind of space we are looking at: column space, null space, or row space.
