Another good demonstration! I’ve not used the ‘speed limit’ setting so far, but often use the Assisted Cruise Control (ACC) option. It is also possible to switch it off temporarily by using the ‘Cancel’ button to the right. Often done on approach to a speed limit to let it slow down to about the right value. I always have it set to “3 bars” - it’s about 50m at 80 km/h (roughly in line with the HoC guidelines). Not sure of the exact sums it does at higher speeds, but it’s roughly in line with the occasional “2 chevron” marks on certain motorways. So far, I’ve not had any real problems with it slowing down unwantedly with something cutting in front. The other point to note is that if you change lane to pass something at a lower speed than your setting, it automatically accelerates when there is a large enough gap in front. It looks as if the limit setting (not the ACC) is mainly aimed at urban areas, but it could be awkward if it is set too low if a quick move is needed. Depends on the situation. Overall, I’m pleased with it, in tandem with the lane keep assist gadget. A useful pair of tools for certain trips.
Thank you. Learned so much from your informative video demonstrations. Just got a Yaris Cross and still familiarising myself with all the features. Coming from a 2016 1litre Hyundai, the Yaris resembles a spaceship with all the gadgets available. I found this quite overwhelming until I watched your content. All the best.
I was also so amazed to find the radar cruise would actually brake to a stop if necessary.. Had some fun through town the other day, cruise set at 30 and it just crawled along braking and accelerating in the queuing traffic, without any input from me.. Good fun but spooky. 😊
Thanks great tips 👍, I'm just getting to know my mazda , I'm realising there is a lot to learn with the modern cars today , many thanks for your time n effort .Big Thanks j
I don't know if my 2024 model is a bit different but with the limiter if you hold the adjust rocker for just a couple of seconds it will jump in 5mph increments thereby saving you a lot of button pressing. Thanks for video
Many thanks for your message I’m pleased that the videos I’m making are helping people to better understand what they are driving and operation of them
Thanks Paul, very much appreciated. Clever stuff for sure. I actually had a test drive in a new Yaris back in October last year, unbelievable how cars keep advancing 👍
Did you order one,, I look back at my first car and think how much simpler cars were back then , I still own a relatively simple car my Suzuki Jimny and still love to drive it occasionally it puts a smile on my face every time I go out in it, but feel so much safer in my Yaris GR , as it makes me appreciate the modern technology they are putting into relatively cheap cars these days
Yup, I ordered a GR Sport a couple of weeks ago from Premier Toyota Llandudno Junction. I remember when they used to crank cars with a starting handle….Funny old world, Crazy 🙃
Same dealership I ordered mine from I’ve been using premiere Toyota since 2000 Of my 7 Toyota cars only 1 came from another dealership because they had the car I wanted in stock as an ex demo
Cheers matey new subscription added toyou as I love yaris hybrid cars just crashed my gr sport so bought a regular hybrid what a difference in smoothness love it even more now I understand some of the buttons*still a newbie driverolder guy*
Thank goodness I found your demo. Very clear and now I know why I accidentally set the speed limiter instead of the cruise control on my new 2024 Yaris. Potentially dangerous. Why do Toyota have it on the same rocker switch? It should NOT be possible to set the limiter whilst still moving - must try it out now that I know how to cancel it.
Brilliant video, thank you. I’ve been puzzling over how to operate the speed limiter and adjust it as the speed limit changes and finally I understand, so I can give it a go. Do you just press cancel to turn it off?
@@paul_nwsxs in fact I was waiting for this. Thanks to your film I used the system first time today. Before I had no idea how to start/on the cruise control and operate the system. Thanks!
Think the satellite adaptive cruise control is my favourite feature on the Yaris. ‘Full-on Audi’ lol … you’re not wrong … whenever four circles appear in my rearview I always know there’s gonna be trouble 😂
When they do the full on Audi I just adjust my speed on the steering wheel to draw them in even closer Love messing with the idiots who are totally reliant upon their electronics Once I’ve drawn them in I speed up around corners, they soon back off when they realise I’ve better handling than them
A new bypass opened around a town near me, 28 km and a magnet for the petrol heads. The 3 cars I've seen stopped by the police have all been audis 😅. Also saw a news report of a car stopped doing 170+ Kph in a 100 zone..I suspect the same. They never learn.
I've just picked up a new 2024 Yaris Cross Hybrid, here in Australia... Thanks for sharing your knowledge of how the systems work. One question, does your traction battery flow indicator ever show full bars? So far mine has only reached four to five bars. 🙂👍
Not used the cruise control yet. Because the car has sign recognition if it is set on cruise and you enter a slower speed zone ie. from 50 to 40 does the car slow automatically or does this require driver to reduce the speed of the car manually ?
My VW Golf has both Speed Limiter & Adaptive Cruise Control. Getting a Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid soon so showing me the controls here is very helpful. Thanks.
I just got my GR Sport yesterday and the cruise control is confusing me. I can’t ever seem to be able to set the cruise speed to the speed I’m driving at the time it just seems to default back to the cruise speed I initially set it to and I have to flip the switch 10 times to go from 30-40. So if I cancel my cruise control but enter a 30 and want to set the cruise to 30 I press down on the switch or up? 😐
@@paul_nwsxs I think I’ve found the way. What I’m doing is when I’m entering the 30 zone if I’m already at 30 I just press the cruise control button and that seems to be working
WOW ~ What a super simple explanation & demonstration of both functions, many thanks..
Glad you liked it

Instead of clicking up one by one, hold up or down and will go faster to speed want to go at.

It’s amazing how it works
I use it when in traffic on the motorway, I can just let the car do all the hard work, makes for a less stressful experience

Great video Sir, thank you for sharing.
you can keep your fingers pressed up/down and this then goes up in 5mph which is bit quicker if needing.
i know i can jump in 5 mph gaps , but for a moving demo i use the 1 push 1 mph method

Its possible to get the battery fully charged ,normally it happens after going down a hill
Really useful video thanks. Not sure about holding a camera! Be careful.
How is the lane assist in this car? Can you make a video about that.

The car doesn’t adjust the speed automatically
I use the switch on the right hand side of steering wheel to adjust the speed

when the speed limiter is engaged, will the car auto-brake when going downhill?
question answered in tonights video live a 6pm
@@paul_nwsxs thank you! :-) there were a few times when the car hit 31/32 mph but if you felt the brakes engaging then it is fine. Cheers

Yes arm the cruise and hit the toddle switch and away you go, once you get used to the system it becomes second nature
@@paul_nwsxs cheers mate, what a lovely car.
Dear, can you set the speed higher than 125 km? I have the same car, but I can't go more than that
125 mph is the maximum you can set your speed limiter, never tried it in kph as in the uk we still use mph
You didn't cover selecting ordinary cruise control without the radar assist facility. I find radar assist really annoying on the motorway.
thanks
You're welcome!
