    Nice drive, good to see how the GR-4 behaves.
    Looking at the black Yaris @ 00:45 do you know what wheels are those ? What about the tire size ? They look really great !

      @smoothasbrothers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn’t tell you exactly the wheels and specs they looked like a 18x9.5 tyres were a nankang ar-1 assuming a 255/35/18

      @@smoothasbrothers Great stuff, thanks. It seems they look like Weds Sport TC 105X wheels maybe ?
      I might be putting XXR 527 in chromium black with Nankang AR1 on my GR-4 for track days and summer. The originals will be fine for winter.
      I have Nankang AR 1 fitted on my MK Indy RR. Those tyres are an excellent compromise for track use and they are road legal ! Soft grippy rubber, strong tyre wall, not too bad in the wet for a semi-slick tyre, decent mileage and cheaper than Yokohama or Toyo.

      @@micsub I’ve heard great things about those tyres great bang for buck. They have my attention, how much mileage do people get out of them on average have you researched?

    • @micsub
      @micsub 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@smoothasbrothers Those Nankang AR1 I have on the MK Indy are hammered only on track. The mileage I get out of them is not a reference seeing that they are never used on road.
      However, I get more mileage out of them than Yokohama and Toyo semi-slicks for example. So I can imagine, all proportions kept, that you should get more mileage from the Nankangs than Yokohama and Toyo on road cars.

    Good job mate, I did a 51 around there with my old Evo. See how I go when my GR arrives next month. Nothing like taking the Mrs for a ride too haha.

      That’s proper quick!
      Hoping the GR can be around that territory with some good tyres and more seat time 💪🏻
      Yeah probs wouldn’t want to come again haha

    Sick bro. You looking to throw on some coilovers?

    • @smoothasbrothers
      @smoothasbrothers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep thinking to do wheels, tyres and coilovers all together once we have flogged it on some tracks stock

    • @OlyMar83
      @OlyMar83 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh same, been looking, just the HKS on the market at the moment for the Coils. Still early days I guess.

    • @smoothasbrothers
      @smoothasbrothers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OlyMar83 yeah they are slightly too expensive for what I need. I’m thinking the MCA sports comfort still great for track use and street as want to retain comfort being mainly road driven but still have the edge over the standard suspension to go low and fast

    Not the track pack, limited slip differential only on the rear wheels, meet the Australian version GR Yaris!

      Aussie version doesn't have LSD's at all.

    Slow in fast out will see you faster. You're creating the understeer with too high an entry speed.

      Those poor front tyres. Tortured.

    • @smoothasbrothers
      @smoothasbrothers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As mentioned the tyres just couldn’t keep up. Even at a slower pace not coming in so hot and trying to ease her out of corners. Some more seat time and practice could have seen some cleaner entry exits but fighting under steer coming in hot or coming in slow and exiting fast seen front end wheel spin pushing me out also. The rear end grip in these compared to the front was phenomenal. As the day progressed and ambient temps went from 20c to 28c this process happened a whole lot quicker. Probably just expecting too much from these poor tyres ahha 😂

      Even watching John Boston’s from track school video in the GR from tune house at wakefield the stock tyres just screech heavily. A little more refined than my driving though haha

  • @yeahmateyeah

    Heads up to much screeching especially that skipping understanding screech, literally all I heard.
