I didn’t know web development was a minor... I’m really interested - is it worth it to major in CS to become a web developer? I would eventually want to start my own digital agency so should I minor in business? I’m not sure. It’s all just a big mess and I have one year to decide.
If you’re going to major in CS, I would say minor in business instead, just because all the stuff you need to know to make websites will be covered in your major already. Having those extra business skills will look better than a major and a minor that are so similar
You could minor in statistics (considering you’ll be conducting experiments and analyzing data frequently), biology, computer science, data science (or data analytics), or technical communications (writing). If you’re trying to compliment and concentrate your studies specifically to appeal to graduate school committees I would choose one of those minors. If you want a minor that could possibly give you something to fall back on, I would go with business analytics, data science (again), behavior analysis, or computer science. I was also pursing a career within the field of psychology (clinical psychology) though I Re-evaluated my aspirations and decided to concentrate my studies and pursue a career in I/O psychology, thus minoring in business analytics… I think the key here is to just minor in something you think can provide you with extra knowledge that can assist you in better performing in your desired field of study. It always helps that your minor compliments your major, though it doesn’t always have to, something I learned is graduate schools don’t really care about your minor, only your major and experiences/test scores. Best of luck if you haven’t already chosen a minor
I’m deciding between choosing cs or stats, but don’t know if I should choose one or both. My major is journalism and I already have a minor in legal reasoning and was going to choose business or entrepreneurship, but can’t stop thinking about cs or stats. I also am thinking of doing a boot camp in data science in the future.
Doing something similar to you, if you want my two-cents, minor in something hard like CS in case you need something to keep you fed if you can't find a job. No offense to you of course, I love art but IK there isn't as much money to made in GD unless you're freelance.
I have been thinking between a double major Biology and CS. But then i am thinking about the work load so i am thinking Biology major and computer science minor.
You can even add certificates to specialize. If you have a useless degree like poly sci or English if you add technical, business, or math courses on your resume it can boost your resume. It can be a talking point.

Im an econ major not planning on getting a minor, rather taking additional classes that seem valuable to me. Im not sure if it is a good idea but no one minor looks all that valuable to me. I am already bilingual though.
Why not pick up a third language? I'm bilingual too (English + Spanish) and I'm minoring in French. The more languages you can speak the better! Being multilingual helps you stand out in job interviews and can result in a higher salary. It also gives you the opportunity to travel to those countries for business meetings. Other minors that complement econ are psychology and sociology.

Very much so. A lot of tasks accounting (specifically in auditing) are being automated with the use of AI and data analytics amongst other trendy tech. According to a professor and a counselor from my college, having knowledge in tech can mean the difference between getting a job offer with a minor in MIS being one route to distinguish oneself.
I'm a biology major and I was really interested in going to med school, now I'm a junior (1 credit away from being considered a senior at my university) and I've lost all interest in going to med school. So I have two options, either change my major completely or to minor in Computer Science. My concern is will I be able to get a tech job just from a C.S minor if I choose not to go to med school and basically how hard it will be for me to get a job.
