    Great video!!!! I have the speed limit assist on my BMW 5 series but I can’t seem to find where to turn on the road speed indicator. Can you tell my how to switch it on?

    The speed limit on the dash is wrong. How do you get it fixed?

  • @toneskill

    Can you not have it on. Or will over the air updates in future make this stay on

      @BMWofFW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's only on when you press the LIM button on the left part of your steering wheel, and even then, the system is only in standby until you press SET to set your speed limiter. so you could in theory turn it on when you get in the car and never set the speed. But to answer your question more clearly, the system isn't on automatically when you turn on the car, you'll need to press the button to get the system active and in standby mode.

    My speed limitor deactivates BEFORE the kick down point in the accelerator pedal... Does it mean that an issue must be solved in my car ? Thanks in advance. (BMW 118i)

      Same here, I guess its intended to be bypassed at more than 80% pedal depressed.

    If The BMW See The New Speed Limit, You Have To Press SET everytime ? Doesn't it Change Automatically or Doesn't The Speed Reduce Automatically
    ?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you can set it to do it automatically but for safety reasons i advise heavily against it.

    I need this. I have such a heavy foot. Doesn’t help that I have an M Sport either.

    Is there a way to have it automatically switch between the various speed limits rather than you having to press Set? Seems an oversight not to have that function

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  ปีที่แล้ว

      it depends on your current settings. If you have the speed limit set to manual you have to change it yourself by clicking set with each change, automatic just changes it automatically.

      @@BMWofFWhow can i do automatic limiter?

  • @ianmay4368
    @ianmay4368 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just picked up a 2022 420i and having trouble getting limit assist to function. I can manually adjust speed but when I press set to follow the new speed limit sign the limiter just sets my current speed.
    I tried setting to automatic in the settings menu but still same.
    I have noticed in the past that assist was lit in green but now only shows lim

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  ปีที่แล้ว

      So LIM is limiting you to the speed of the current road... (you'll see a green LIM next to your speed when that's what's active) you won't be able to change that unless the road limit changes too (then you press set again to reset to the new limit IF you have your settings set for manual changing, you can also have it automatically do so if desired) if you just see a green tach looking icon then you are using your cruise control (different system) that one is adjustable and holds you at the preset speed where LIM assist allows you to slow down and speed up TO the limit.

    • @ianmay4368
      @ianmay4368 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BMW of Fort Washington sort of howbit is. Today I switched ro manual and now "assist" has appeared below lim and I can use set to chose the limit.
      I thought automatic would have worked too but assist doesn't appear then. Unless I have misunderstood. I would love it to change automatically as I do always adhere to the limits.

    • @ianmay4368
      @ianmay4368 ปีที่แล้ว

      I worked out how to operate the device. I had it set to anticipation of the road signs and that didn't provide what I wanted. Now I have it in manual mode the speed signs are being recognised and I can press to accept the speed as my limit. I don't have an automatic feature available so that's not an option

    I did turn off the speed warning ⚠️ but it will still come up after I hit 85

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that might be an actual speed warning, not speed limit assist. you can find that speed warning in your settings, basically just gives you a warning above a certain chosen MPH.

    Thanks for another informative video - I will try LIM function next time I am driving (so far ignored it). Why BMWs dont come standard with adaptive cruise control? Actually, I dont see it often on BMWs as if they dont have you to have it. WHY WHY WHY?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      probably because the average cost of the system is higher than most consumers are willing to pay for if it was added as standard.

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      honestly though we try to keep the balance of price and features above what most would expect. it's not a perfect system but when you do the "similarly equipped" comparisons, BMW tends to come out on top by anywhere from a $3k-10K advantage when all is said and done. it's also showing now just that it's a car, anyone can buy a car with 4 wheels and and engine and transmission, but it's the value, fit and finish. It's our position that when you come to us it's not JUST a car, it's THE car for YOU. Because having a premium luxury brand requires both. Luxury is tangible... you know, things you can feel, see, smell. it's measurable. but Premium, that's the emotional side, how it makes you feel when you see it, drive it, experience it, not just the car but the buying experience, the dealership experience. little things like having chilled and room temp water. it's a SMALL small thing but when you go to a fancy restaurant and they ask if you want Sparkling, mineral or tap... makes it feel that little bit more special. am i right?

      @@BMWofFW Hello and thank you for your reply, much appreciated. I know what you are saying, small things and the idea behind luxury product and total experience. I was not complaining about the cost part, what I wondered was why Adaptive CC was not a standard feature. I am on my fourth 3 series now and am quite happy with the quality and the service I have received. At the same time, the car features that used to be unique to BMW, are not unique anymore. I even asked my sales person the same question and he guessed that perhaps BMW wants people to DRIVE the car rather than sit there and let it drive itself. But I like the comfort of ACC. BTW, its been four months since I bought my 330i, I am going through a BMW experience saturation - all my cars have been 3-series with black on black. Right now a red Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport is really tempting me :)

      @@kapoorh i hear ya... speaking of driving themselves... BMW is currently working on Level 5 autonomy. Their self driving exhibit is pretty impressive, still trying to figure out if we’re trying to beat Tesla to the punch on that or if it’s just been a long time coming. But back on point, I have a sneaking suspicion that once lv 5 is out, things like adaptive cruise will be standard.

    Very redundant to have to hit the set button every time there is a change. One would think and appreciate it when it sees a speed limit change , it would adjust accordingly. As it stands this feature makes little to no sense.
