    As a kid before I knew about SUVs I wanted that Aerostar van. One was on display at a mall that now no longer exists. That commercial sure takes me back to the 80s seeing those kids fashions.

      +Lancelot Link I love my '92 GMC. I inherited it from my Dad when he passed. It has an economical 4.3 liter engine and can get 19 MPG on the highway. It is a high truck and has an 8 foot bed and a 36 gallon gas tank! I don't like today's trucks. Too expensive and most have the short beds. • @lancelotlink3907
      @lancelotlink3907 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tiago Mian That is awesome Tiago. Sucks you cannot buy it in the US. I guess Ford thinks most Americans cant fit in a smaller truck anymore and maybe we cant. Toyota rules that segment of the market with the Tacoma. Chevy came out with the Colorado but dealers want as much as a full size because they don't have many of them. I like the look of that Brazil Ranger better too.

    • @jdlawley
      @jdlawley 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is Lancelot Link , they were getting really high priced. There was only about $1000 to $2000 difference between the Ranger's price and the F-150's price. I liked those trucks too, but I can understand why they stopped US production.

    • @lancelotlink3907
      @lancelotlink3907 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josh Lawley If I put a full size truck in my 2 car garage with a second vehicle I have to shoe horn myself in either vehicle which gets really old after a while. Here in the Phoenix area the sun will destroy your vehicle if its left outside so you have to garage if you want it to last. I want a smaller truck and will probably have to go Japanese because Ford doesn't give a crap about loyal customers like me.

      Oddzylinder Fudgrub they had a 170 ci 6 cylinder, and pretty sure they had a 140 ci available too, the gas had more energy in it then, not nearly as many noxious additives, so with a light foot, a tailwind, and running downhill 30mpg could have been possible. We had a 63 Econoline van, 170ci, 3 on tree and got up to 25mpg but gas was 29cents a gallon.

    My high school buddy inherited a econoline window van from his mother, that we liked to drive around with the motor cover off to watch the engine. It said "Falcon" on the side, and I have not seen another like it since. Was it an early model?

      +57Banjoman Originally, it was based on the Falcon platform, then re-named Econoline.

      +57Banjoman Watch the engine like bird watching or to make sure it wasn't about to blow up in your face?

    I feel like they should have kept the econoline truck idea, you have a million car models, but only one truck model, really.

    The only thing i Don’t miss about those older cars is the uncomfortable seating. They could claim that it was improved but pain is pain hahah. That’s really the only good thing about some of the interior features in cars today ( yeah yeah , I know everyone may love all the technological things all these cars have now , but i couldn’t care less about cars being the next target to spew forth all the crap that the internet has already messed up. Cars are cars. They’re not something to make these idiots out there texting and driving and talking on the phone more immersed in their dumb conversations that could wait til they’re not
    Oh say - HURING A FEW TONNED KILLING MACHINE DOWN THE ROAD AT80 mph ? Lord have mercy ! The 50’s-80’s still focuses on functionality and accommodating a little comfort but they held up the test of time. Now we have plastic tin cans that barely last bc they’re not built to last since everyone’s focused on constantly having to have the next new thing for a status symbol and the prices are ridiculous! No way should these cars Be 50-$60,000. It’s sick. Anyway , just my two cents worth lol. Don’t get me wrong , I always liked seeing The cars new models coming out , where they’d look more streamline and not so boxy bc the 70’s and the 80’s kind of messed some
    Features up lol.
    Meanwhile watching this commercial about the truck that supposedly drives like a car , I know they’re not slanging that big ol thang around a track in the mud comparing it to a car lol. I’ve only ever liked one ford and that was my mustang convertible 5.0. Only ford I’ve ever bought. .. I did however , almost die in it though. Had a near fatal accident after someone was recklessly driving and ran me off the side of the road . Seriously though, after it split the car in half , after spinning out and hitting a metal pole and putting me in a coma , I still think if it was half these other cars , I’d have been dead for sure. But idk.
    Anyway meanwhile , the customized van with the uh” wooly” design ? Really lol wooly ? Can’t come up with anything better ? The inside screams out pervert / sexual offender ... never trust anyone with an old ass van or a van with carpeted insides .. or anyone with a van in general ... unless it’s a van for a mama and kids situation .. those old vans freaked me out .. even when they were new they freaked me out. Guess they had to appeal to someone out there but omg.

    I've owned Ford the majority of my 50 years, and like them, but the Econoline truck was the ugliest truck I ever did lay eyes on. The only thing that eclipsed it, was the Edsel, for bad style. No matter if it was $230 cheaper, I'd have rather payed that extra for the F-100. The Econoline truck didn't last long.
    Believe it or not, I saw someone driving one of those Econoline trucks around, not long back. Several years before that, I also saw another take an Econoline van, plus an Econoline truck, and merge the two, making something like a crew cab, by cutting the vans front 2/3 off, and welding it to the rear of the trucks cab and bed. That was a weird looking monster. On the later vans, I do miss the pimped out van days of the 1970s. I remember those well, and remember what some came up with, to put inside.
    Out of all the Fords, I liked the Bronco, the old original, (notice that they call it a sports car here), and the later large version, based on the short wheelbase F-150 4x4. I could haul anything with it, and still had the seating in it like a car. My 89 Bronco XLT was decked out, and drove as easy as any Mercury Grand Marquis or Lincoln. It was the best of SUV's, if you want to call them that. (A point I noted; to see how bad Wikipedia has gotten, they claim that XLT means the low end trim on Ford vehicles. Look up XLT there).
    The early Ranger and Bronco II, weren't that bad either. I owned both. Next, they show the Aerostar minivan. Try getting someone to work on one of those, the mechanics despise them.
