I've been saying that for years! 1967 arguably represents the historical peak in beautiful automotive design. The list is so long it's unbelievable, especially if you include race cars.
I love that he’s eating donuts with his son in the car! And, loaning it to a friend’s wedding. He knows how to share his enthusiasm. Pity there aren’t more that do the same.
I have a '67 coupe that I have owned for almost 40 years. The interior is original with a ripped seat and worn carpet. I am told not to touch it. The best thing about this car is that it is tight and rattle free. 327, 202 head, aluminum intake. She flies. I am blessed to own such a treasure.
The coupes were always a lot tighter than the convertibles. I had a 67 L79 Coupe and my friend had a 67 427 BB Convertible and he was always amazed how much quieter and tighter my coupe was over his convertible. That 67 was the best year C2 and the most reliable car I ever owned and so easy to maintain. It was without a doubt the car I used as a daily driver and the most fun to drive... and I paid less than 4k for it, lol. My vette never left me on the road. I love the look on your son’s face... you do realize youth’s hooked right? Of course you do, lol.
I restored a 67 convertible in 1978. For its time it was fairly advanced: 4-wheel disks, all independent suspension, and a powerful engine--I had the 327/350 It one of the most beautiful cars Detroit ever made.
I freakin ❤️ C2’s!!!! I just purchased a 67 L79 Coupe last week (11/12/21). It’s currently being transported to my house. The car is totally restored and it has all the original documentation to it.
@Literally Shaking You're absolutely right. The split rear window is the coolest. Yet it made the car itself almost the Holy Grail among the C2s. It's become a museum piece rather than a car for a true enthusiast who can afford to buy it. I wanted to emphasize the fact that Matt has the car he can enjoy and its pedigree comes from the town he grew up in. I bet he could've had the splitty as well. Sometimes I'm just tired of these stiff guys on Petrolicious showing off their precious pieces of art. And they try so hard to look cool while driving them.
I've always been a fan of European sports cars, particularly Porsche and BMW. American cars never really piqued my interest. However the second gen Corvette is the exception. In my humble opinion, the 1963-1967 Corvette is the most beautiful American car ever produced.
@@jerrytee2688 Eh....I still say best "American" car. IMHO, it's not as attractive as the Jaguar XKE, Lamborghini Muira, and a myriad of 1960's Ferrari's. But the Corvette is certainly a fantastic looking car in all of its forms....Stingray (and the other hardtops/coupes) slightly more attractive than the convertibles, but I'm not really a convertible fan.

This video kind of reminds me of myself. I still own a 1967 Coupe today. I actually owned 2 '67's the first one a Vert. in 1970. I always loved the 2nd Generation C2 Corvette since Chevrolet rolled out the first '63 while I was in the 6th grade. The '67 Corvette is the most refined C2 that Chevrolet ever built and the most sought after Corvette out there still by Car Collectors all over today. I kicked myself later on after selling my first '67 Vert. during the early 70's to move up to a C3 generation. I owned 3 of them. This C2 stays with me to the end. Hopefully my daughter keeps it in the family when I am gone. I own some other collector cars along with 3 other Corvettes a C3,C5 and C6 all Coupes. I kind of relate to the fellow who posted this fine video up above. Glad You Tube put it right in front of me this Sunday morning as a Video I may like. They were right in their assumption.
i use to work for this guy for 2 years. matt is pretty cool guy. he truly liked letting people see these nice cars drive around and live outside a garage. his 05 ford gt was too cool, mclaren 720 was a spaceship, and the 911 singer was pretty special. oh yeah and his 68 gt500 was mint. he dailyed all of them
Mom and Dad and six kids in an old Mercury when I was a kid. No seat belts. Mom rolled that heavy beast when I was three and standing up in the back seat. She had a broken back and pulled herself halfway out of the upside down car. I HAD a scratch on my head. We were so very lucky to still have our Mom.
1967... 1968... I was 4 yrs old... by 1970, I can still remember my dad wishing he could own one of these beasts. Family came first and we had a ‘66 Impala, white 2 dr with the 327. Maybe someday, I can own one of these as well. This body style of the Corvette is my favorite, hands down.
I am not in the age bracket of the demographic who would fully appreciate or have memories of this car, but I still think there is this lost appeal with these classics.. There's just something rugged, raw and badass about these older models.. both the interior and the exterior.. This style really captures the essence of the "stingray". You look at the most modern corvette and the C8 looks more like an imitation ferrari than a vette. Not saying it's not cool, but i just feel something is lost. Even though I wasn't even born during this era, I can see the appeal of these classic cars.
Yea it's handsome looks took a cost. The c2 Corvette had a front lifting problem at higher speed when it competed in Motorsports, which is why both the mustang and Daytona coupe always beat the c2. Pete Brock's first professional assignment was being part of the c2 Corvette design team. He advised the head designer you change the front to prevent lift, but he told Pete to fuck off......
What I took away the most is “you have to share these things...” I agree so much. Not everybody will be so interested in cars or motorcycles or engines period. But the ones that want to learn need a mentor
Love the father and son interaction in this piece. Nice to see a father passing on his passion for automobiles and instilling this in his son who will hopefully continue to keep the car culture alive into future generations.
Thanks for that beautiful short film on the car and how awesome it is. Now I know I have to have one. Something to look forward to. Enjoy it while you can. Thanks. Regards, Jim.
The sound of the small block and big block chevy engines of the sixties was music to my ears because I was there as a teenager. The high octane gas really made them go and gave them their performance sound back in the day.
This video embodies why I'm a car guy, my dad had a 1971 Corvette LT1 Red on Black that we used to take out together. Those similar moments are seen here , as father and son. Great video and sort of an underrated great car. I like that its not a 427, makes it more obtainable.
This is by far my favourite episode. I’ve seen it like 50 times, still hits me. My grandpa had one almost exact same spec. Wish my family kept it when he passed. I’ll have to track down the owner one day.
Excellent perspective on an AWESOME car. I always wanted a 67. My uncle in upstate NY had one. He gave me and my older brother a thrill ride back from Albany airport to Amsterdam back in 67. I'll never forget it.
First job out of school was pumping gas. Thousands of cars came by our pumps, this was by far, the most beautiful.I never forgot seeing this car for the first time! Thanks
I love Corvettes. C2s are the best, but I love my 1972 C3. I also have a C6 (Z06) that can take your breath away, but the C3 takes me back to a really good time in life, pure enjoyment to drive.
My Dad had a '75 Stingray and we shared good memories with it. I look forward to having the same experience with my son with my planned '67 Stingray, too
I'm a car guy and I love all classics, I have a 1967 Mustang that has been retro-modded for safety and easier to drive, but nothing that Ford did is missing, its still a V8 and sound and I love driving it. I agree with your video and enjoy the Classic for life.
"I wanna drive it, until it doesn't go anymore." Euson, Matt. That's my favorite quote, from one of my favorite car videos ever, the 911 Reimagined by Singer from Petrolicious. Thanks for sharing again Matt, you are a big inspiration for me! Cheers from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
oh yeah, the styling, the roar & rumble, the >snik< of that 4 speed stick engaging...i can imagine the smells, of the interior materials, of the high octane gasoline ~ Man!! There is a car guy in training in the passenger seat, right there under the hood with his dad. Just so many things right with this picture.
Yes, you have to share these things! I agree fully. That’s the best if not the only way to create interest and enthusiasm for new generations of car lovers.
Great video on one of the most beautifully designed cars ! Watching the owner and his son eating donuts and doing a little hellriding through the backroads, the car sounds amazing sidepipes have such a killer attitude when it goes by. Passing down the knowledge and passion to his son is every gearheads dream hopefully he develops the same emotional connection as his dad. Looks like a really nice neighborhood in Indiana
That's a great Vette, love my black C5 for the same reasons! It's not perfect and I take it out year round, as long as there's no ice and snow. First with hydroformed structure and last with flip up lamps. Love the style and it attracts people everywhere it goes. To make it mine I put on Corsa sport cat-back with the black tigershark tip option, thier factory is right around the corner and it was installed at their annual Vette show. Everything else is just how it was delivered, still rolling on the silver painted 5 spoke Speedline wheels that came from the factory (not the wagon wheels)!
Beautiful video. My favorite GM product of all time and quite possibly my favorite American car of all time.. I love C2 Vettes. Just so timelessly good looking. I'd love to have one someday!
My home town! 👍 Those Roads I've been through so many times and the "adventures" my friends and I had are memories you never want to forget. Love those back roads and hope to get back to them soon. Great car, One of those top 3 dream machines we wished we could have had.
Seeing him and his son riding along reminded me of my Dad and I cruising around in his 61 Austin Healey 3000 with top down. That kind of bonding definitely turned me into a car guy. Wish I had that Healey!
My preference will always be Italian. I was born in Italy so it is part of my DNA. But I agree this second generation Corvette is a beautiful design. Of the American performance cars I would say there are only two I would ever consider to own.... that is if I could afford. The generation 2 Corvette, and the 1967 Shelby Mustang. Both stunning, and American.
I have several Corvettes and often people ask me which one is my favorite to drive. They expect me to say the C7 Z06 or my '67 Sting Ray Restomod. They are very surprised, when I state it's my '64 Sting Ray Coupe that is exactly, perfectly stock. It has a 365 hp engine with an appetite for leaded high octane fuel, that flows down the first year for Corvette Holley carburetor, it has factory AC with Freon pumped through it's veins. It has the off road exhaust that lets you hear that 30-30 cam. I has power brakes with metallic sintered drum brakes, that I think just work fine. No power steering, cause that wouldn't fit under the oversize L-76 engine's oil pan, even with it's steering play, it handles just fine. It has skinny bias ply white walls that drift nicely around corners. No, I think this video sums it up very nicely exactly, what it's like to drive one of these wonderful treasures. With the way things are evolving enjoy them while you can, I tell younger people to listen to or read the lyrics of the Rock Band Rush's song Red Barchetta, that's where we may be heading!
Not a huge Corvette fan nor do I typically like black cars, but this video encapsulates the vintage car culture. The car & video are awesome, but the scene with the owner’s son smiling back at his Dad is priceless. Two huge thumbs up!
A c2 coupe with a small block and a 4 speed (pretty much the car in the vid) is a bucket list item for me. Sure the big block gets all the fame, but the lighter weight over the front axle and better balance is my preference.
Wow this is crazy! I grew up in the area around Schererville and I absolutely remember the USA Corvette store on 41. I also remember driving by and seeing this EXACT car in the protective bubble thing inside the showroom! Unfortunately that dealership isn't around anymore :/
@@MattEuson That's incredible! Such a small world haha. I really liked this video and the one about your Singer Porsche. I don't live there anymore (but my parents still do) and it's always cool to see mentions/stories from Indiana. I hope to see more of your car collection in the future!
That is a great car and cool story. At the 5:00 mark I had a nostalgia moment because my parents had the same green striped couch in their living room that was shown in his garage.
My dad got my mom a vette from I think ‘67 as well. She never drove it, and it sat in the garage until a month before I turned 16 when my dad sold it. My soul was crushed that day.
I was 6 when the C2 first appeared on the streets of Nashville. And I ached for it on a level beyond my comprehension. Even the pedal car version that Western Auto sold stirred something inside me. And I see it in your son's eyes. This is a beautiful example and a great story. The fact that it's not a garage queen is mind blowing. My '96 Corvette is a daily driver so I know the feeling of accomplishment it brings. Some long for the latest, fastest, most high tech. I long for the days before the Optispark was conceived. LOL. Props to you, Matt. A C2 is still on my bucket list.
The C2 will always be my favorite corvette the split window is the cream of the crop. The original mustangs and C2 in my view are the most beautiful American cars of all time followed by the GTO and Dodge Charger those are my top 4.
Really a great report - I enjoyed it very much. It is always a pleasure to watch people with the same enthusiasm and inspiration like me. Thanks a lot for showing this Beauty. Best wishes from an other Enthusiat. Greetings from Austria /Europe. Take care. 🇦🇹👍
"You have to share" I loved that part at the end, Ive discovered the joy in sharing, we all want to share even if we dont know it yet. I consider my self a purist driver and in no way a show off, I hate cars or bikes that are all show and no real driving performance, I like purposely built thing, yet deep down I recognized I wanted to share, I wanted people to see my car, I enjoyed when they get excited, and found that in those moments Im sharing and connecting with people, and it has nothing to do with being a show off, its about sharing, and it happens the other way around too when people share their toys with me... I see all this people with their cool cars and they take them out for a ride, and they want people to see their flashy car, and I see their longing to share, but they dont know how to, and we dont know to either, and we all get into this pattern "he is showing off" "I'll pretend I dont care and it doesn't impress me".. Just share and enjoy
Same here. I've bought Nissan S14 Kouki to save at least one from autosport and ricers. Have rebuilt it in a perfect condition so I could drive it on everyday basis for 20 years+. Not many of them on roads these days, less and less with each year. People should be able to see classic cars on road not on TH-cam or Wikipedia .
Easily the most beautiful American car. I really want to be successful enough to get one of these for my father. This is his dream car since he saw them new.
I remember back in 1990 a friend of mine that worked at a local toyota dealer. I went to pick him up to go for a beer that night and I heard an amazing rumble coming from the back shop...to my surprise they were restoring a 64 convertible and had it all apart, engine on a stand, body off etc..i was told it was a barn find and the owner said ..i have 25k..restore it for me. I didnt see the car till the next spring, and a friend of the owners dropped by my work, and I said is that the resto car from Toyota..he said yep, and I said you gotta take me for a ride. Well, top down, 327 4 speed with side pipes, beefed up to 400hp..he took me out near the local airport and let her go..shake rattle and roll..but that is the great experience

What a beautiful car!!!! And the sound is...Music!!!
I so love this car, it actually gives you the just you and the road feeling.
My home town! 👍 Those Roads I've been through so many times and the "adventures" my friends and I had are memories you never want to forget.
Love those back roads and hope to get back to them soon.
Great car, One of those top 3 dream machines we wished we could have had.
Litteraly my dream car since i was a kid
the front end is such a bumper though so plain and shit
Dont see too many in the UK but its definitely one of the Usa`s finest looking and sounding motors in my eyes
Nice owner, i like people who drive their spectacular cars!
Seeing him and his son riding along reminded me of my Dad and I cruising around in his 61 Austin Healey 3000 with top down.
That kind of bonding definitely turned me into a car guy. Wish I had that Healey!
my favourite car of all time. and in the perfect colour. thanks, petrolicious!
And that kid will be a better young man for experience with his dad!
I have a matching 67 Shelby! Good taste my friend.
@@MattEuson Brilliant! What color?
I drove one for 25 years at least 2 days a week to work it was 20 years old then it never broke down and the only time the top was up it was raining
Who is here after watching the batman ???
One of the best looking corvettes made.
My god!... The sound gives me goosebumps, it looks amazing, I'm gonna drive one someday
Just wanna say this video put the C2 Vette on my dream list of cars. My heart sank how incredibly perfect it was
A c2 coupe with a small block and a 4 speed (pretty much the car in the vid) is a bucket list item for me.
When I bought it from the widow, it was in that bubble thing!!!
You are still here to tell about it, though.
67 corvette is my favourite car. Rented one of these bad boys for my wedding. The sound this beast is just vicious and beautiful
C2 will always be my favorite Corvette! What a car👍🏼
My absolute dream car. Beautiful.
SO COOL to be able to share our passion with our kids.
Possibly the best looking car known to man kind.
Hey! that's the same guy who was in the Porsche Singer video, damn what a lucky man.
Ce Oc
I knew I had seen him before !
@ 2:33 I-74 in Indiana near Cincinnati.
I admit, I hit like before I watched it. Because Petrolicious.
You'' never forget the sound of that amazing exhaust note. Thanks for sharing #FlashbackFriday
Best wishes from an other

Greetings from Austria /Europe. Take care. 🇦🇹👍
I am actually 18 and I enjoy this car so muuuuuuuuuuch. I hope I will be able to buy it some day in the future. :)
One of the most iconic car ever! Beautiful video !!!!
I like this guy. Great attitude. Great car too.
C2s are awesome, unique styling and a nice simple Chevy drivetrain.
