I've had an FRG-100 for many years now, and lately, have been enjoying DXing on the AM band using an indoor Kaito loop antenna near a window. It works surprisingly well, but Yaesu's one glaring omission with this receiver is that tiny, annoying antenna switch on the back. It's very inconvenient to have to switch between my shortwave antenna (using the SO-239 connector) and the Kaito loop, both connected on the back of the receiver. I wish Yaesu had included a simple digital switch on the front of the radio!
I believe that the FM functionality was provided by a separate add-in board, which I don't have. You are right, they are great receivers - had mine for about thirty years, and I am now *trying* to get my son into amateur radio, by listening on this.
Nice Video!👍👍

Yes that function would've been better on the front panel. A lot of receivers have that problem 73
I first bought an FRG-100 in August of this year. After using it a few days, I realized how foolish I was not to get one many years earlier.
They're a top bit of kit. I only sold mine as I was getting a bit of a collection.

Its the best hobby thats for sure
Hi. It wasn’t French chat :) It was Polish.
Cheers, my mistake.
Just stumbled upon this vid. Thanks. I've just got wind of a used one for £399 to replace an FRG-8800 I recenty sold. I might just go for it.
You won't be disappointed. It's a lovely receiver with very nice lines.
@@The-Chaos-Shack Looks like I might have to buy the FM board separately as not included.
That will be hard to get
Saying that I rarely listen to anything on FM on that kind of radio. If it doesn't have FM. £399 is way overpriced. Mine went for £300 with FM.
@@The-Chaos-Shack I was thinking as much. Never had cause to select FM on these bands. I may try and knock them down. Thanks.
