It has taken me 2 years to recover fully from Long Covid - it's been a tough experience, but I learned a lot along the way - one thing I've learned is that knowledge about your illness helps accelerate the healing process. If you have any questions about healing from long covid, feel free to message me as I'm more than happy to share what I can. My email is sarah(@)kalmpilates.com ❤
Oh my goodness, I am so happy to stumble across this video. I have had long covid since February. I had a suspicion that my back pain (in addition to other problems) was due to inflammation from covid. So hopeful to hear others' stories, especially when they provide practical help. Thank you, and God bless you!
Hi Dianna - knowledge is power in the quest to recover from Long Covid. Inflammation is definitely a piece of the puzzle. Wishing you a steady recovery 💖
Hi Lucy - from Covid or not covid related? Either way doing some back care pilates is a good place to start. Have you tried my 15min back care workout yet?
Started the days I got COVID about 8 months ago and hasn’t gone away I have tried deep tissue massages and that helps until the pain comes back. I have tried stretching and workouts but it always comes back.. it started under the shoulder blades. Not it’s everywhere.
Hi Lucy - this does sound like inflammation or even MCAS caused by long covid. I would like to do a video on this as I have been able to suppress / heal a lot of the inflammation / MCAS issues over time.
@@lucyxoxolucyxoxo7131 I'm dealing with the same thing. Although my situation was from a dose of pfizer. Lasted 8 months then started to become less frequent. Until a month ago when my whole family got omicron. The cold itself was hardly noticable, seemed to disappear after only a day. But many of my long covid(or long vaccine in my case) symptoms came back and the back inflammation is with me again starts and stops randomly and can't figure out what is triggering it.
yesterday i did a test and it turns out i had it, so the next day my mum says i dont have to go to school, but then i start having a headache, feeling rlly sleepy, back ache, feeling rlly cold and a cough. im glad you made this video and i hope it helps!
Such a helpful video and grateful for the other comments as I thought I was the only one suffering from this started between shoulder blades and then started spreading to lower back but when I go to the doctors they don’t seem to take it serious which is frustrating!!
Hi Paul - argh, doctors just don't understand Long Covid well yet... it's very frustrating and having to figure out what works and what doesn't work for symptoms is a long process. I'm glad the video was useful to you. Wishing you a speedy recovery! xx
I could not walk for months from the pain..never once considering it was just after having Covid in early 2039. I did decompression and it helped a lot. Until, I got Covid again amd the pain started .. again.. now chronic. Drs say just take antidepressants.. def not being taken seriously. 😢
Hi Mark - I've done a video on this but couldn't do it on my channel as it's not Pilates or back pain related. Have a look here: th-cam.com/video/VWWrlv0crmo/w-d-xo.html. I hope it makes sense - if you have any questions, feel free to email me
Been having pain for almost 2 yrs now just before the first lockdown. I use a hot water bottle an now marks from having it to hot on my back 😂. Very weird pains throught I was dying with 0 help from drs saying it was all in my head. Still having to this day almost like I can feel the shape of my right lung and phlegm seems to hurt on my chest. Going to be honest your video gives me comfort knowing am not the only one with issues hopefully we can all get back to normal.
Hey James - I also could feel the obstruction in my right lung and there was mucus build up... a scan actually revealed I had a lung nodule, all caused by covid. My GP was not useful at all, but I insisted on the scan as I could feel the damage so clearly. I actually can tell you how to get rid of this, but the tricky bit is that you have to be super strict - first of all, you have to stop the inflammation and to do so you have to stop feeding the inflammation, which means going on a strict anti-inflammatory diet. To find out more about this diet, please see my video here on this topic: th-cam.com/video/VWWrlv0crmo/w-d-xo.html This will lower your symptoms within a few days. However, the key then is to keep going and not revert back to your 'normal' diet. Then, as I stopped the inflammation I took a supplement called Lungworth by 21st century herbs and this helped heal my lungs in weeks. Please note I'm not an affiliate of any brands - I just want people like yourself to know that you can get better if you do the above, but you have to be strict for around 3 months. Also, although my lung really recovered loads after the 3 months, I still have a weakness now in my right lung and it can flare up. If it does, I go back to anti-inflammatory diet and the supplement I mentioned here. You will feel results within a week of starting the routine though. And GPs don't have a clue about covid yet... they are behind the curve, but eventually they will catch up. However, let's not wait for that... try the above and let me know how you get on! If you need more advice or guidelines, email me on sarah (at) kalmpilates.com
In my experience being a 40 year old athlete, is that heat invokes inflamation. You want freeze packs to lower any inflamation. So if you want to be able to move, use heat. But if you want no or little pain, use cold.
That's very interesting! Normally the advice is: cold to reduce the initial swelling, but once the injury is not 'fresh' or 'new', then heat to encourage blood supply for healing. Cold is numbing, heat is to increase bloodflow. However, I'm a firm believer in trying things out because there are rules and then there are exception to the rules, right? For instance, you can use ice baths to improve your immune system and that could help with injury recovery indirectly as well. If you have found something that works for you, then that's great!
I'm sorry to hear that - my advice would be to first of all to try and reduce the inflammation in your body by being on an anti-inflammatory diet, then to gently do Pilates and listen to the body's feedback what works and what doesn't... Covid messes with your body's defence systems - and inflammation can settle in different areas, the back is one of them, but of me it was my lungs, upper respiratory system, gums etc. Best to take a holistic approach rather then just seeing this as back pain, if you feel that it's connected to having Covid. Sending you best wishes and a speedy recovery x
I had COVID back in February when it was first being discovered and no one knew what it was and I went through the terrible symptoms. Now since I've had a COVID vaccine. I got it again and it was not quite as bad but now I'm left with this terrible back pain. That is exactly excruciating and I just don't know what to do
Hi Susan - I'm so sorry to hear you had covid and then a reaction to the vaccine. In my experience, it's helpful to get data on what's going on in your body. Things like tests to measure markers for inflammation may be a good starting point. If you can't get help from your GP, you may find that a Functional Nutritionist can be helpful as they can also order tests. Wishing you a speedy recovery xx
I started having pain january 14, 2022 , in every joint ankles, knees, hips lower back , middle back , neck, shoulders, elbows, wrist, & three days later , all the pain settled in my neck, middle back , lower back , with pain radiating down both of the back of the legs, to the heels of my feet & my heels feel like there on 🔥, had six Mri's, & now have to use upright walker because my legs keep giving out , note I did not have all the problems & horrendous pain before January 14, but I was diagnosed with covid-19 on January 15, This has Not went away & today is February 11, This shit sucks so bad
Hi Robert - I've mentioned this in another comment too, but I wanted to repeat it. Some doctors specialising in MCAS have mentioned that Long Covid symptoms - like the ones you describe included (muscle and bone pain) - are very similar to MCAS, and so if you are at a loss of what to do next, I would suggest you try the MCAS healing protocol. You can find a medical MCAS specialist (probably private) or if that's too costly and you need to figure this out by yourself, start with an anti-inflammatory diet or anti-histamine diet. If you are based in the UK, please feel free to email me as I can share the details of my Long Covid doctor with you who may still be taking on new patients. I will do a video on MCAS and back pain over the next few weeks as I know this will be a great help for some of you reading this.
Hi Seham - what I'm finding from getting responses from viewers is that the symptoms can all be slightly different. However, the underlying issue (or at least, contributing issue) is hyperinflammation. In my experience, I had to adhere at least 3 months to a very strict anti-inflammatory diet to reduce my symptoms and that gave my body the opportunity to heal the damage. I combined this then with gentle exercise and supplements for my specific symptoms. I hope sharing what helped me, may also be useful for your recovery. 🙏
How's your leg pain I've had long COVID for 8 months now swelling in left knee back pain that feels like sciatica weak ankles and tight calves not getting better
I had Covid in January this year (the alpha variant)... I haven't fully recovered yet since then. Brain fog, painful migraines, blurred vision, photophobia like a vampire, invalidating vertigo and dizziness, etc. Now I have a horrible back pain and very stiff and heavy legs. I feel I want to die and doctor could not care less, not even in the slightest. What should I do?
Hey Mark - I have so much sympathy with what you are going through. It is mentally and physically really challenging - and it's a very lonely experience because there is so little help available. I can of course not guarantee you that what I have to share is going to sort it out for you, but I can tell you the steps I took to get control of my issues - could you email me on sarah@kalmpilates.com?
Hey, feel free to email me as well - more than happy to share... It took me 18 months to figure out all the different puzzle pieces, so it may help shorten your recovery (I really hope so!). My email is sarah@kalmpilates.com
Hello maam I survive 14 days quarantine from covid since January..but until now February I still experience backpain and asthma..eventhough I almost take antibiotics for 2 weeks still i have backpain and asthma
I'm so sorry to hear that, Caroline. I also had lung issues for 7 months - the key is to reduce your inflammation and for this I do recommend a strict Anti-Inflammatory diet. It works but you have to be strict - it has to do with keeping your histamine levels down. Any questions, feel free to get in touch!
The jab can also create inflammation in the body - I got ill from covid, but I then also had a bad reaction to the THIRD jab, so I know it's possible to get symptoms from the virus itself and the vaccine. I actually was lucky enough to find a Doctor in Infectious Diseases who just started to specialise in Long Covid who was taking in new patients - he told me that the jabs are in a way mimicking the virus and therefore it's absolutely possible to have a reaction. The majority of people won't but some obviously have had side effects. With help of my specialist, I had to go back to a very strict anti-inflammatory diet but had to combine it with anti-histamines and some other medication to remove the spike protein from my body (these are his words!) and thank goodness that did indeed work. I hope sharing this information with you may help!
