Your thorough review has helped me get to know the how to's. Thx so much! I have a 2nd hand, bought at a thrift store w/accessories for $15 same model, the cord was taped on together, it finally pulled apart & I went to a dealer said the cord could be replaced. I did get a chance to try it b4 the cord tore apart and everything was working great. ( I bought a Dyson dc33 thrifted, unfortunately the suction is not picking up dirt, I noticed the hose where it click on the back to the handle is not even attached tightly, cuz it won't click in, it hangs loosely. I wonder if thats causing problem to suction on the floor head.) I like the power of the Kirby does a thorough clean seems to pick up more dirt in less time to clean.( I would rather invest my money in getting a new cord for the Kirby, than waste money on the Dyson expensive to repair.. I feel the Kirby's robust built & all around functionality will last me longer in the long term.( it sucks that the money i wasted to get that Dyson I could've got a new Kirby cord. I was told by the dealer $50.) It may be heavy, but I've tried other vacuums & everything else does not compare to the power of the Kirby.
Just got one of these for $80 came with all the attachments plus the shampooer! I love this machine and it will be replacing my Aerus Electrolux Epic 3500 Sr.
I have a December 2010 (basically a 2011) Sentria and it has the straight zipper and updated emtor. I love it. Although I do miss the side zipper (my G7 has it) I feel it gives you better access to the bag.
There is a plastic clip on base for hard floors that has a brush and prevents any metal contact with the floor. First new accessory I bought for my second hand G7D. The short grip handle is a great attachment when using with a hose in canister vac configuration. Drags easy without tipping and eases carry to new locations. Though color may vary, just about every part is still available new and fairly easy to service.
Used to have this same one, don't remember the year, but It might have been 2012. I sold it a couple months ago for $200 on ebay, because it was very shiny like new. Some just sell Kirbys like its a new Dirt Devil. I got that one for $20. I also have a Sentria II that I got for $30, and a duplicate for $5.
The "ratcheting" of the transmission is the Cam Bracket. Those are a cheap and easy replacement. No need to replace the whole transmission. I am pretty sure there's a TH-cam video on replacing the transmission. Sorry to be nit picky.
@@graysonsvacsandmowers5426 ok I just finished testing what you thought would be the problem in my g5, and it is in fact the problem. My g5 has had that issue for ages and re-greasing those axel bearings fixed it. Now I don’t have to buy a new drive pedal!
Thank you for having this video. Good instruction and demostration.

Dyson's are pretty complex to work on unlike Kirby's.

Kirby is good, but you can’t beat an Aerus/Electrolux machine.

Also , Be careful with the handle, Not as strong as G6.
Thanks for sharing the video. In the model number, Can you tell me what the D stands for? Thanks
I love this Kirby

What is the model number of the vacuum bag. Having a hard time trying to find an G10D vacuum bag.
That transmission ratchet isn’t due to a bad transmission, it’s the neutral drive pedal
But why is the ratchet inconsistent? I suspect it's the axle grease in the transmission that's dried up over time.
@@graysonsvacsandmowers5426 well that actually would make more sense tbh

The Ultimate G is the best
I have the same one.
The late model with the updated emptor?
Mines from 2010 and it has the straight zipper.

I just got a Kirby at a pawn shop for $5 bucks
My dad has one
U have any bissells
Great vacuum for carpets…attachments are a joke…very heavy…I imagine these are the reasons you can pick them up for less than 100$….
