    IMPORTANT > It's buried down here in the comments so wanted to make sure everyone sees that. After you download you might see an empty scene. You have to zoom out a LOT. Just keep zooming out.

    If you run to an issue that "heightfield_visualize" node does not give you any colors, add between "heightfield_visualize" node and "mapbox" an “attributedelete” node and in Primitives Attributes section write “shop_materialpath”.
    This will delete the material that is projected on the terrain from the mapbox.

    lovely tutorial, the issue i have is when i open the mapbox viewer, the worldmap does not appear its just blank grey

    Hi! awesome tool and thanks for the tutorials! One question: When I place the hf visualize and connect it to the first mapbox output it doesn't seem to discard color/texture information so I can apply my own. Am I missing something? I am a noob using Apprentice edition so I don't know if that plays a role although I did try it on the max zoom available on the map and it still didn't work..

      我也遇到这个问题了。我尝试了很多方法,最后发现,新建一个heightfield,heightfield_noise,heightfield_visualize,链接它们,这时候显示是正常的,最后把mapbox链接到noise上面就好了(noise strength=0)

      I think that´s not the solution...if i´m trying this, it seems to work, but if you look closer, the visualization does not compute, it still shows the visualize information of the temporary created heightfield. If you refresh the node you´ll see it.
      If anyone has a real solution for this please help!!!

    Did I miss a step? I can download the map data but it shows nothing in the view.
    1. Add Geometry node
    2. Open Geometry node
    3. Add Mapbox node
    4. Add API key from Mapbox
    5. I used the same Lat/Lon/Zoom as you to rule that out as the problem.
    6. Download the map but then nothing shows up in the view window

      try space-g. it doesn't auto frame after it imports

    Hello Indie Pixel, first of all thanks for your tutorial its amazing!
    After all this steps and creating the terrain is it possible to export the 3d model as well as the texture of the Satelite like in minute (8.30) to another program such as 3ds max? I have being searching all over the internet and I had no luck with this texture issue. thanks !

      Howdy Gonzalo! There is most certainly a way to export all this stuff. And I think this is the topic of the next part of this video series. Ill make a video showing how to get all the data exported out so it can be used in a game engine. Thanks and stay tuned! :-)

    How did you get the full mapbox with labels and a larger UI? Mine is very small and no labels at all. Also I go to an area like malibu hills and most of it is quite flat.

    cool tutorial, when i try to d/l the data nothing seems to haveppen and my mapbox node is still red, erro reads
    Error
    Invalid source /obj/geo1/sop_mapbox1/optional_blur/terrain_layer1/foreach_end2
    Error: Failure to cook template geometry..

    Fighting right now with exporting as an digital asset. It worked for me once, but sadly it doesnt anymore.
    Is there any trick i maybe miss? Great tool.

      of course as always, a few minutes later after i asked i found the solution.
      I just replaced Local Downl,oad Paths with the Files on my desk, that got created inside "maps" folder.

    the first two primitives I saw in the geometry spreadsheet were toilets. I think I picked a spot further upstream.
    Btw I'm using H18 and it seems like my version of mapbox is less well designed as yours.
    When I press "Look Up" the window comes without any state lines or Text (No cities, states, countries etc. ), it's just a plain map.
    So it's quite hard to tell where I am.
    Luckily enough that's exactly the area I wanted to explore.
    For the future though, do you know a how I could resolve that issue?
    I might switch to the Tianzi Mountains in China, that would be hard to find, Arizona I was able to approximate from the coastal line..

    Thanks Indie-Pixel for doing some H17 videos. When I hit "Look Up" on my sop_mapbox1 node I get the following message "Qt Warn: WebGL: drawArrays: texture bound to texture unit 1 is not renderable. It maybe non-power-of-2 and have incompatible texture filtering or is not 'texture complete'. Or the texture is Float or Half Float type with linear filtering while OES_float_linear or OES_half_float_linear extension is not enabled." Any ideas what this is about? I'm using H17 Apprentice if that makes any difference.

      The message appears every time I use zoom on the mapbox atlas window which still seems to work though but annoying message every time I do anything in atlas.

    Love the tutorial. Trying to follow along but I seem to be stuck at about 8 minutes and 33 seconds at the same point where you were having problems downloading.
    I've tried to increase my zoom level. Download and the mapbox pop-up closes after few minutes which I'm assuming it's done downloading.
    However, there is no mesh in the scene or perspective. After imports the data...does it automatically load ?

      Howdy Just Josh! Yep the data will load in. You might have to zoom out in your houdini scene. Or hit f to frame the loaded terrain. If that still isnt working then check to see if the node downloaded the heightmap. You can find the location of the map in the file paths located at the bottom of the nodes parameters.     Those who are having problem not downloading, it is downloading you just need to zoom out a lot which is pain in the ass. So just press Spacebar+H then it will appear, also it doesn't take more than few seconds for me to download, once it is downloaded the dialog box will vanish leaving you confused. Hope that helps. I however am stuck at heightfield_visulaize node not changing anything and not sure how to export the Satmap/Terrain color texture or export the detailed terrain as Mesh with vertex color, All I can do is to export as simple Mesh without color data

      If you want to remove the material that gets built onto the heightfield..drop down an attribute delete node and delete the shop_material attribute. The visualize node will work then. As for the art map and color map they are automatically saved into your houdini project or where your hip file is saved. Hope that helps!:)

      It sounds like you'll need to remove the shop_material attribute using an attribute delete node.

    When I extract a piece of terrain, part of it gets completely flattened in the middle, I do not understand what is up with that. Do you have any idea how I could go about fixing this? I got apprentice version and I am a newbie at Houdini so any kind of help on this part I would greatly appreciate.

      Howdy! Well its hard for me to say without seeing your setup, but I would check to make sure that your setup has a OSM file path in the bottom of the MapBox node. Its usually populated by default, but make sure you have a file path in the osm, terrain, and color paths at the bottom of the node parameters. It might be also that the area you are sampling has no OSM data. Cant be sure since I dont know where you are sampling from. Hope that helps a little. Thanks! :-)

      Use an attribute delete node and remove the shop_materialpath attribute from the heightfield. It's on the primitive class. With regards to curves, not sure. Should pump out osm data for ya.

      @@issanoori6280 looks like the nodes have been changed round over the years add an extra node called Attribute Delete under primitive attributes the box should be filled with Shop_materialpath this should gray the map out then the rest is the same as the video.. confused me for ages (running on the apprentice version 18.5.56)
