I love watching these videos. Her appreciation of the music that was so instrumental in my youth and remains so much a part of my life is akin to having a personal accomplishment acknowledged. Thank you!
I can name that song in 2 notes, it is one of those instantly recognizable songs, and important songs. John's voice is also instantly recognizable. I agree with you CCR is very underrated and always has been. Born in 83 I grew up listening to them as my parents were huge fans, and we always had the golden oldies on the car radio. I as always appreciated your reaction and thoughts on this.
I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "I Put A Spell On You", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "Have You Ever seen The Rain", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Born On The Bayou", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.
CCR are one of my favorite bands. Captivating from the first tone to the last with widespread musical colours. Thank you for your very appropriate analysis Bethany! 🙏
"Creedence", as we say here in Sweden, were huge. And still if someone is playing covers at a pub there will inevitably be some requesting "Play some Creedence!" In fact the band my cousin used to play in made it 500 SEK (about $50) to request a Creedence song just because the wanted to play other songs as well for a change 😅
thanks for doing CCR! My mother loved their music and his voice and took me to a live show when I was about 8 years old lol - (back in the days off this video - I'll never forget it). Their music still sounds so original and hits the same after all this time.
I love this band when it came out I just heard it on radio,n I just seen him song couple months ago I was looking around at the band members to see who was singing,n I couldn't believe different he looked then I was expecting,I seen him when he's older, but ya that have so many great songs 😀

Saw Fogerty last year. Still rocking that same black Les Paul. I'd give anything for that guitar tone. What a player and singer. Great show and his sons are in the band now.
Yeah punk basically started as this kind of music but played very fast due to stage fright. And this version is noticeably faster than the album version
In some ways, yes, but bands like MC5 and the Stooges had already established this foundation in the late 60s (and played much harder and were far crazier than this). Plus, there were a lot of garage rock/garage punk bands in the early 60s who are the real proto-punk foundations.

If you have the chance, please check out Stevie Wonders live cover of Fragile by Sting at Stings 60th birthday party. Stevie's phrasing and his take on the song is unbelievable. Thanks again.
John Fogarty had one of the earthiest voices. I was raised on 50s, 60s, and 70s music by my dad (country music by Ma), and Creedence was a large part of that. If you haven't heard it yet, I'd check out Long As I Can See The Light or Night Time Is The Right Time.
Finally! Big CCR fan here. One video, especially this particular video is not enough to understand Fogerty's voice. You can clearly see how he is nervous and keeps looking at the drummer Clifford because they just getting faster and faster from the beginning to the end. So he couldn't sing the way he used to.
Cool song. Heart beat beginning to a jone of others heart beat a healthy rebellion. I Love It! His face looks to me as when he is singing this song. His soul is being tickled from performing this song. I can almost feel the inside gooses he is feeling.

I like how you can't QUITE put into words how very cool that intro is. And I agree the band's output is always different, each song not like the next. Heard It Through the Grapevine is superb, and his solo is just perfect. And thanks for not saying the current bandwagon word: "Fire!" The gritty lead guitar, the banging drums (which have such a tone), his high-gruff voice, and the fierce assertion that it's the poor boys (mostly) who get to fight the wars, not the pinky-raising crowd ... By the way, have you heard of the vocal range gizmo Better Voice vocal trainer? I'm sceptical but my range has shrunk and I want to be able to sing again, "Sylvia's Mother" like I once could ... Many of the great singers from the 70's are half-forgotten. You've just reacted to two of them -- Fogerty and Rodgers -- but there are many others. One of my favorites is Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music. Over the decade, Roxy morphed from edgy art-pop to dreamy ethereal, and every step of the way Bryan was fantastic. The obvious would be to react to a performance from their ultra-successful Avalon album, but you can pick him up at any point in the 70's and enjoy his singular voice.
2 of CCR really weren't "Fortunate Sons", as they did go to War in 'Nam, & so their band, just: 'Creedance Clearwater' broke up, & when, post-tours, they all reunited, they added: 'Revival' to the band's name to represent 'em revivin' to rockin' roll!🤘

If a band launched today, or any era post Creedence, with a vocalist that sang like John Fogerty, I honestly feel they'd be a world wide success. One of my absolute favorite live performances from John Fogerty is 'Born on the Bayou', from the Premonition live DVD; it's SO good.
I think my favourite version of this song is a live one with John Fogerty and Bruce Springsteen from 2009 at Madison Square Garden, 13M views on TH-cam
This was a lot of fun - such a great song, and the live performance is simply frenetic. It's a lot faster than the album version, and it gives the song a whole new dynamic (sort of like the live Midnight Special recording of Hocus Pocus by Focus). If you want to delve more into this era, definitely try the Midnight Special video of I Don't Need No Doctor by Humble Pie and The Black Berries - not only is Steve Marriot awesome in this, but you'll have SIX other singers to enjoy as well! Additionally, the live 1969 version of Grand Funk's Inside Looking Out would be a great choice. Hmm... I think I'm showing my age here, but oh well - I can always play some Jinjer and regain a little youth!

When you're 12 and heard this when it first aired, you learn to hear and tune in to music and singers and when you age, you can skip all the others over the years that just can't match bands like these.
Great protest song. Rich man's w*ar, poor man's fi*ght. Still true today, maybe more so. Listen to Born on the Bayou to really hear John's unique voice.
There looked to be some tension between the bandmates there. John keeps looking at the others as if he's wondering something about them, if he thinks maybe they're performances aren't what they should be or something. Maybe that was in their later years before Tom left when the other members weren't happy with John at all?
Man, they're playing this so much faster than the album version! John Fogerty could write a hit song in his sleep, the rest of the band should've just went along for the ride instead of letting their egos destroy the band. And can somebody get him a longer guitar cord?😂
Your restriction of commentary to the vocal production is remarkable. Understandable, given the success of this channel depends on a neutral position, but quite curious. So, why use this song? Is the scrupulous lack of commentary an actual commentary due to the omission? Sort of like the "ghost notes" in some of Bernard's renditions of his shuffle? Good news for your algo score is that I'll have to listen to more of your pieces to see if this is a consistent feature of your "reactions."
Hi, less than 2 years ago, you've reacted to an artist named ren to the song " hi ren". I would really love that you react to more of his songs and his creativity. WE need you to react to " an ocean of strange islands " NEW NIGHTWISH
Great protest song. Rich man's w*ar, poor man's fi*ght. Still true today, maybe more so. Listen to Born on the Bayou to really hear John's unique voice.
Please react to King Gnu - Hakujitsu .. they have really unique voices and harmonics
Janaga, Sevak - На грани. Reaction!
There looked to be some tension between the bandmates there. John keeps looking at the others as if he's wondering something about them, if he thinks maybe they're performances aren't what they should be or something. Maybe that was in their later years before Tom left when the other members weren't happy with John at all?
You should review Crematory- greed
This a song about not be able to avoid the draft to be sent to fight in Vietnam
In some regards, the music was secondary to the political observation and commentary. Great music was just a bonus.
❤
Man, they're playing this so much faster than the album version! John Fogerty could write a hit song in his sleep, the rest of the band should've just went along for the ride instead of letting their egos destroy the band.
And can somebody get him a longer guitar cord?😂

React to “drag the lake” by amity affliction !!!
you should react to taylor swift
Please do Alter Bridge - Blackbird!! 🙏🙏🙏
The song is short. But not as short as John's guitar cord.
