I gave up FB a few months ago also. I don't miss it at all. I've also been fasting from going out socially and having cocktails with friends. It's been quite a while now. Definitely been a turning point. 🙌
I gave Facebook up quite awhile ago too and have never looked back. I also weeded a lot of my YT subscriptions to just the things that would help me in my faith and my health in my specific condition.
I am not on fb but ytube is eating my time. There's some great stuff (like this and similar videos) but most of what I watch is bs and useless. I wanna break this but how 🤔
So true, once I started fasting, and just little ways, God started opening my eyes more and more and more and setting me free from fear, anxiety, all of it. Also he opened my eyes to see the true church and I am being guided by him to join the catholic, the true church, and leave being a protestant 🙏 All glory to God 🤭

Heh, first time I've said my age online. I'm gonna be 100% honest with whoever reads this. I'm 10 years old. I'm fasting today actually for Nineveh Ninety. I am eating only 3 meals a day which are Bread and Water. This video helped me to fast with other things too! I just decided what to do for Lent thanks to this video! It is a little late though.. I am on TH-cam for a huge amount of time in my day. What I'm giving up is TH-cam that doesn't improve my faith in any way shape or form. So what I can watch is Ascension Presents - The Vortex - The Download and other things like rosary videos for my daily rosary. Thank you Fr. Mike for helping me with my faith every time I watch you! I'm glad my mom introduced me to you.
Thank you Father Mike, I have been a hospice nurse since I was 26. Just turning 50, I have tried to nurse in the spirit of Mother Teresa. I am working currently with school children. I find that they need me as much as the sick. The last years have been so difficult, as I age. I feel I should have been more, and my contribution so small. You are helping me redirect my mindset. I have learned so much from you already.
Lori Dela Fuente I, too, have felt maybe I’m not doing enough or haven’t in the past. We can only live one day at a time and work with that. If you gave a child the job of collecting pencils and they want to get all the text books instead, that is not the task you gave them and you would’ve they rather just collect the pencils. Likewise, God may only require a smaller task for us at times and we need to satisfy ourselves with that. Someone else is to collect the text books. This is just an example to show something that has helped me and I hope it helps you. I’ve realized that my Will is not always God’s Will. I’m sure you are very pleasing to our Lord. God bless you!🙂
Since 2005 by God's grace, I replaced wine and beer forever with water, milk, and juice. What a blessing and freedom from alcohol and social pressure to drink. I offer my forgoing alcohol to God for those who struggle with alcoholism. Now it's time again to fast food and water. If Jesus fasted 120 meals (3 meals/day x 40 days), then what is it to forego a few meals offered as a little penance and live of my fat storage around my waist? May Jesus help me from being so lazy and inconsistent. Blessings upon Father Mike!
I completed a 3 day Esther fast(recommend low to no physical activity)with a constant short prayers to saints and Jesus. It broke all the strongholds I was dealing with. Frequent reception of the sacraments, AM+PM prayer, reading and living the gospel, fasting, wearing/using sacramentals, corporal/spiritual works of mercy will help you not to regress.
@@BitsyBee I mainly do modified Aquinas fasting now warm blood meat, dairy, desert done most days of week. Partial cold showers and hard surface sleeping with antinflammation herbs (turmeric/catsclaw herb examples) helps too-with morning aches. Will pray for you, pray for me also.
As a person who really likes wasting great part of the daily time listening to music, that message talks deeply about me. However, being at state of mortal sin, it's being quite hard to me to come back to the Lord. I'd like to honestly ask for the prayers from my brothers who are also waging this battle against the sin.
Márcio Rodrigo I noticed a noticeable change in how I react to temptation ever since (PLEADING THE BLOOD OF JESUS). You see when we plead the blood of Jesus over everything in our life, anything that is not of God has to die. Start pleading out loud and it will happen. God bless and stay strong;)
My friend, I too was a slave to certain Mortal Sins. Nothing worked until I started praying the Rosary daily. It WILL destroy whatever sins you are struggling with. God bless, and I will pray for you!
God invites us to walk with Him. It is through walking with Him that we walk away from sin and towards salvation. God does not ask you to resolve your issues on your own, on the contrary. He is trying to show you that when you're in sin it means you're still a toddler and you need His help to walk. Never let where you are today be an impediment to letting God into your life. He's knocking at your door because He just wants to hang out, to be with you. He meets you where you are. He doesn't care. Read Psalm 139 every time you feel like sin is getting between you and God. Remember always that it is God who heals and Satan who accuses. Remember that it is the snake that convinced Adam and Eve to hide when God comes looking for them in the garden of eden. Don't hide. He knows you and loves you as you are this very moment. His grace will heal the wounds that lead you to sin. No sin of yours is bigger than His heart. Please let the Shepherd bring you back into the fold, you will remain totally lost without Him, and it's not your duty to be your own shepherd. Rely on Him.
Pray for me. I’ve failed this Lent due to being sidetracked by our 45 year old son losing his job and living at our home. He’s become complacent and isn’t looking for full time work. I hope we don’t have to legally have him removed from our home. He once lived on the street so we are very concerned about what to do. He simply can’t lay around in a room in our home contributing nothing. Sacred Heart of Jesus I surrender this to you.
It’s 4/1/22 and Lent is 2/3rds over, but I just deactivated my Twitter account, which has been a generator of anger, inappropriate comments and feelings bordering on true hatred since I joined in 2016. It’s over. Thanks Father Mike. This is something of which the Holy Spirit has convicted me over and over. Feeling a big sense of relief and thinking 30% of my current confession sins should be eliminated.
May ALL my sufferings please, dear Father, be offered on the altar of sacrifice along with His body & blood, soul & divinity for the holy souls in purgatory, for my Jewish atheist family and firstly fir my own wretched sins. Please dear Lord, accept this sacrifice of the heart through deprivation & suffering. Thank you.

Thank you Fr Mike! A few days into Lent and I've been feeling really confused and down about fasting and this has helped me to see it in a much more positive light
In high school I took a vow of silence for lent my junior year. It forced me to shut up and listen. Even when I didn’t want to hear what was being said, I had to hear it, without rebuttal. I still reflect on that now. I learned a lot and have considered doing it again. It’s harder now with a young child who requires instruction. Maybe when she’s older, I’ll be able to do it again.
"Prayer and meditation [penance as well] are meant to do for us exactly what the dying process does. They too are exquisitely calibrated to loosen our grip on this world and open our awareness to another." Fr. Ron Rolheiser
It’s very important for every person I believe to review their day. There are people that are in terrible moods and they live that way for decades. It’s a great thing to pray and ask God for healing. I think lent is part of God’s plan for healing. 🎄🎄🎄🎄💕
Recently I been bored with life going to work homing home I get bored easily watching TV playing video games asking myself why am I here on this planet? Feeling empty inside with no purpose in life I been seeking God I desperately desire to know his presence
There must be more to life, eh? Well, there is! Find out how to pray the Rosary. If you pray the Rosary with sincerity and an open heart for one month I bet your life will be changed for the better!
Fr. Mike, thank you for always sharing the Lord's wisdom! I reference your videos all the time. Side note everybody, The Power of Habit is a great book.
"I must live the testament of Christ" - In his testament, just before dying, Jesus left me his word, his body, his mother, his Church, his priesthood, his new commandment, his mission, the duty to make all things one.” Cardinal Francis-Xavier Thuan V Nguyen 🙏🏻4us
Father Mike, You have really inspired me now to live my Catholic Faith again...you have me to want to be reborn in this my faith again...your video's are so important to me Father. I plan on going to confession. Receiving Easter communion. Praying the Mercy Sunday Novena ( Blessed Saint John Paul II), as well. Only to have all of my sin's forgiven....Forever.
Hello father Mike, I'm an 85 year old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I truly enjoy all your videos. I usualy share them with my children and acquaintances. Well this video got me in trouble with some. I kept getting texts from some of them accusing me of thinking of them as alcoholics and to quit sending them videos. I feel very sad but at the same time I feel I don't need
One of the things I've done for my depression which is mainly anxiety now. Pray the rosary every day. Then I started 3 years later 2 rosaries a day. I never thought I could do that. I even say all the mysteries of the rosary in one day but not very often. Just keep praying...
This was so helpful to me. This is my first lent in many years not pregnant or nursing and with 4 little ones at home I made it my goal to work on myself a bit. Yes, prayer but also weight loss and general fitness. This helped me feel like I’m not being selfish using lent as a time to grow in these areas I so badly need to.
This video was very helpful Father because I'm struggling on that evry Lent season, I feel like I don't have a lot that I cam give up and that it self is wrong, this Lent I started a little late I'm trying so hard, I go daily Mass Wed -Friday, I always get there 2 min after or just when it starts, I'm trying to get there at least 20 minutes before so I can Pray, during the day I'm a Martha,.I really want to change it, please pray for me Father.
Hi everyone, if you guys could say a prayer for me, I'd appreciate it. I just broke my Lenten vows, and while I don't wanna go into details, it was a mortal sin. As a young man it is difficult to avoid temptations, but if you could spare a minute it would mean a lot. Thanks.
Hey man you're in my heart. I'll be praying for you! And maybe this doesn't apply to your case, but I have noticed that if you try to change something that has become deeply ingrained in habit, it's almost impossible to suddenly stop cold turkey. So don't feel discouraged. As long as you keep trying and taking small steps, you will get there! Just take the time to ask God for strength and entrust yourself to Him, and He's got your back. Also, many of the saints did not start out with saint-like virtue. Virtue that strong is developed gradually over time, after falling and trying and trying again. So just keep looking forward. Hope any of that helps. You're in my prayers!
Hey Bro David, repent from your heart and ask the Lord for forgiveness ....Lord is all forgiving and loving...He sees your heart...May Lords blessings always be with you ..
Thank you so much Father Mike for reiterating some truths. I gave up a few things that I've been chronically addicted to and I really do feel free. I will continue on forever, never going back.
"habits oriented toward excellence" very thought provoking... I gave up something I thought would be beneficial to my relationship with Jesus and my spiritual life but I don't know if it has really changed my habits or if how i'm approaching it has really made me 'free'. I totally needed to hear this. I wish I could like this twice!
Thankyou father. I’m a new religious girl and I’m trying to fast on bread and water twice a week. Thankyou for your help. Sorry father but your so handsome forgive me but true. I’m actually in love with a priest to be. Thankyou for everything god bless Carly xx
Thank you Fr Mike! A few days into Lent and I've been feeling really confused and down about fasting and this has helped me to see it in a much more positive light
Fr Mike has such good advice. Thank you for helping me.
Matthew 26:28 John 6:35 John 6:50-58 I keep these in mind when self-doubt tries to convince me that hunger has no remedy.
Thank You Father Mike Schmitz, thank you for allowing God to do His will in your life. God bless!
Fasting is amazing for both the body spirit and mind 💖🧚♀️🙏
"Prayer and meditation [penance as well] are meant to do for us exactly what the dying process does. They too are exquisitely calibrated to loosen our grip on this world and open our awareness to another." Fr. Ron Rolheiser

So true! It is in dying to ourselves that we can then really live the life we were meant to live! Matthew16:25. Thank you.🙂
Thank you fr. Mike for your spiritual nourishment about lent
It’s very important for every person I believe to review their day. There are people that are in terrible moods and they live that way for decades. It’s a great thing to pray and ask God for healing. I think lent is part of God’s plan for healing. 🎄🎄🎄🎄💕
I was born and raised catholic. I wish I have someone like you in my parish. I am no longer a catholic, but I keep my faith in God
Why not?
Thankyou father mick I’m a catholic it’s good to fast

There must be more to life, eh? Well, there is! Find out how to pray the Rosary. If you pray the Rosary with sincerity and an open heart for one month I bet your life will be changed for the better!

"I must live the testament of Christ" - In his testament, just before dying, Jesus left me his word, his body, his mother, his Church, his priesthood, his new commandment, his mission, the duty to make all things one.”

What a great presentation! We love you, Fr. Mike!
Thank you Father Mike. It helps a lot!
To apologize to them.
Apologize to them.
For this 2020 Lent i decided to give up sweets altogether and offer to God my sacrifice.
Great insight Father Mike. Thanks nd God bless.
How did Fr. Mike know about my late night habits?? Thank you Fr. Mike & God bless you always!!
Thank you Father Mike. God bless you!
As a person who has depression this was so helpful and healing ❤️🩹
One of the things I've done for my depression which is mainly anxiety now. Pray the rosary every day. Then I started 3 years later 2 rosaries a day. I never thought I could do that. I even say all the mysteries of the rosary in one day but not very often. Just keep praying...
This was so helpful to me. This is my first lent in many years not pregnant or nursing and with 4 little ones at home I made it my goal to work on myself a bit. Yes, prayer but also weight loss and general fitness. This helped me feel like I’m not being selfish using lent as a time to grow in these areas I so badly need to.
Excellent, thank you! Ash Wednesday is right around the corner. God Bless.
Thank you for your positive Christian messages Father.
Thank you Fr. Mike. This more than anything has shown me how I should approach lent. God bless you.
Same here got hints… I hate waking up early am a B++ person, I will give a trial this Lent 2022 & start with a rosary to energize me 😄🙏
I love this! Thank you!
Thankyou Father Mike!
Will do it is extra help.Thank you
Happy devout holy week
This video was very helpful Father because I'm struggling on that evry Lent season, I feel like I don't have a lot that I cam give up and that it self is wrong, this Lent I started a little late I'm trying so hard, I go daily Mass Wed -Friday, I always get there 2 min after or just when it starts, I'm trying to get there at least 20 minutes before so I can Pray, during the day I'm a Martha,.I really want to change it, please pray for me Father.
Great, great video explaining the subject of why we are to fast. Awesome.
Thank you Father for making us understand the real meaning of fasting
Thank you. I really needed to hear this. Your analogy concerning the morning alarm is illuminating
GREAT INFORMATION FR. MIKE....THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
Thank You Fr. Mike!
Thank you so much Father Mike for reiterating some truths. I gave up a few things that I've been chronically addicted to and I really do feel free. I will continue on forever, never going back.
Im so glad I came across your youtube channel.. Thank you Fr. Mike for doing these videos!
Thank you Father Mike. I feel so good after listening to this and you! God Bless you!!! 😃♥️🙏🏻 Mike
"habits oriented toward excellence" very thought provoking... I gave up something I thought would be beneficial to my relationship with Jesus and my spiritual life but I don't know if it has really changed my habits or if how i'm approaching it has really made me 'free'. I will think about this tonight
Wow you’re a father
