I gave up facebook for lent when I realised I spent 17hrs on it a week. I never went back when lent was over. Now I spend more time in prayer Thank you God x

I gave up FB a few months ago also. I don't miss it at all. I've also been fasting from going out socially and having cocktails with friends. It's been quite a while now. Definitely been a turning point. 🙌

So true, once I started fasting, and just little ways, God started opening my eyes more and more and more and setting me free from fear, anxiety, all of it. Also he opened my eyes to see the true church and I am being guided by him to join the catholic, the true church, and leave being a protestant 🙏
    All glory to God 🤭

Why not Greek or Antiochene Orthodoxy ? Or the Assyrian Church of the East ? Or Syrian Orthodoxy ? All of them have as much claim to be the 'original church' -- and the Greek church probably has the greatest claim to that. They still use the language of the New Testament. And the Assyrian Church of the East still uses the language that Jesus himself spoke.

Paul regularly referred to Timothy as his child: "Therefore I sent to you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ" (1 Cor. 4:17); "To Timothy, my true child in the faith: grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord" (1 Tim. 1:2); "To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord" (2 Tim. 1:2).

@@jeeolsen9993 fasting can be as short as one day and can be for as long as weeks. Don't go crazy over it. Many people think fasting is not eating anything at all. That's not really true. It's having ONE big meal and two tiny ones. Like tiny as long as they don't make you full. Also no meat at all aside from fish.

Heh, first time I've said my age online.
I'm gonna be 100% honest with whoever reads this.
I'm 10 years old. I'm fasting today actually for Nineveh Ninety.
I am eating only 3 meals a day which are Bread and Water.
This video helped me to fast with other things too!
I just decided what to do for Lent thanks to this video! It is a little late though..
I am on TH-cam for a huge amount of time in my day.
What I'm giving up is TH-cam that doesn't improve my faith in any way shape or form.
So what I can watch is Ascension Presents - The Vortex - The Download and other things like rosary videos for my daily rosary.
Thank you Fr. Mike for helping me with my faith every time I watch you!
I'm glad my mom introduced me to you.

Thank you Father Mike, I have been a hospice nurse since I was 26. Just turning 50, I have tried to nurse in the spirit of Mother Teresa. I am working currently with school children. I find that they need me as much as the sick. The last years have been so difficult, as I age. I feel I should have been more, and my contribution so small. You are helping me redirect my mindset. I have learned so much from you already.

I, too, have felt maybe I’m not doing enough or haven’t in the past. We can only live one day at a time and work with that. If you gave a child the job of collecting pencils and they want to get all the text books instead, that is not the task you gave them and you would’ve they rather just collect the pencils. Likewise, God may only require a smaller task for us at times and we need to satisfy ourselves with that. Someone else is to collect the text books. This is just an example to show something that has helped me and I hope it helps you. I’ve realized that my Will is not always God’s Will. I’m sure you are very pleasing to our Lord. God bless you!🙂

Since 2005 by God's grace, I replaced wine and beer forever with water, milk, and juice. What a blessing and freedom from alcohol and social pressure to drink.
I offer my forgoing alcohol to God for those who struggle with alcoholism. Now it's time again to fast food and water. If Jesus fasted 120 meals (3 meals/day x 40 days), then what is it to forego a few meals offered as a little penance and live of my fat storage around my waist?
May Jesus help me from being so lazy and inconsistent. Blessings upon Father Mike!

I completed a 3 day Esther fast(recommend low to no physical activity)with a constant short prayers to saints and Jesus. It broke all the strongholds I was dealing with. Frequent reception of the sacraments, AM+PM prayer, reading and living the gospel, fasting, wearing/using sacramentals, corporal/spiritual works of mercy will help you not to regress.

God invites us to walk with Him. It is through walking with Him that we walk away from sin and towards salvation. God does not ask you to resolve your issues on your own, on the contrary. He is trying to show you that when you're in sin it means you're still a toddler and you need His help to walk. Never let where you are today be an impediment to letting God into your life. He's knocking at your door because He just wants to hang out, to be with you. He meets you where you are. He doesn't care. Read Psalm 139 every time you feel like sin is getting between you and God. Remember always that it is God who heals and Satan who accuses. Remember that it is the snake that convinced Adam and Eve to hide when God comes looking for them in the garden of eden. Don't hide. He knows you and loves you as you are this very moment. His grace will heal the wounds that lead you to sin. No sin of yours is bigger than His heart. Please let the Shepherd bring you back into the fold, you will remain totally lost without Him, and it's not your duty to be your own shepherd. Rely on Him.

Pray for me. I’ve failed this Lent due to being sidetracked by our 45 year old son losing his job and living at our home. He’s become complacent and isn’t looking for full time work. I hope we don’t have to legally have him removed from our home. He once lived on the street so we are very concerned about what to do. He simply can’t lay around in a room in our home contributing nothing. Sacred Heart of Jesus I surrender this to you.

Yes. Intermittent fasting has many health benefits including, but not limited to:
"Fasting induces metabolic signaling that reduces your potential for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.
Fasting reduces the amount of free radicals in your body and renews your immune system through the regulation of stem cell production.
Fasting triggers autophagy (mitophagy in the mitochondria), a process that cleans up damaged cells and reduces the inflammatory response."

It’s very important for every person I believe to review their day. There are people that are in terrible moods and they live that way for decades. It’s a great thing to pray and ask God for healing. I think lent is part of God’s plan for healing. 🎄🎄🎄🎄💕

Hello father Mike, I'm an 85 year old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I truly enjoy all your videos. I usualy share them with my children and acquaintances. Well this video got me in trouble with some. I kept getting texts from some of them accusing me of thinking of them as alcoholics and to quit sending them videos. I feel very sad but at the same time I feel I don't need

One of the things I've done for my depression which is mainly anxiety now. Pray the rosary every day. Then I started 3 years later 2 rosaries a day. I never thought I could do that. I even say all the mysteries of the rosary in one day but not very often. Just keep praying...

This was so helpful to me. This is my first lent in many years not pregnant or nursing and with 4 little ones at home I made it my goal to work on myself a bit. Yes, prayer but also weight loss and general fitness. This helped me feel like I’m not being selfish using lent as a time to grow in these areas I so badly need to.

Hi everyone, if you guys could say a prayer for me, I'd appreciate it. I just broke my Lenten vows, and while I don't wanna go into details, it was a mortal sin. As a young man it is difficult to avoid temptations, but if you could spare a minute it would mean a lot. Thanks.

Hey man you're in my heart. I'll be praying for you! And maybe this doesn't apply to your case, but I have noticed that if you try to change something that has become deeply ingrained in habit, it's almost impossible to suddenly stop cold turkey. So don't feel discouraged. As long as you keep trying and taking small steps, you will get there! Just take the time to ask God for strength and entrust yourself to Him, and He's got your back.
Also, many of the saints did not start out with saint-like virtue. Virtue that strong is developed gradually over time, after falling and trying and trying again. So just keep looking forward.
Hope any of that helps. You're in my prayers!

"habits oriented toward excellence" very thought provoking... I gave up something I thought would be beneficial to my relationship with Jesus and my spiritual life but I don't know if it has really changed my habits or if how i'm approaching it has really made me 'free'. I will think about this tonight
