At first I was not getting the answer but I did notice it convert to exactly degrees minutes and seconds after I pressed equal. So the next 2 steps are to press the shift button and then equal again and my answer matched yours. Thanks.
I wonder if hitting the degree/min/sec key a second time would have toggled it over to the decimal format. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment - it might prove useful to someone else watching the video in the future.
When doing part 1, my calculator does not show the decimal answer, when I press the equal button, it just shows exactly what I’ve inputted in as the answer?
I’m not sure why yours would not behave the same, but I’m guessing you can get the decimal answer by pressing the degree button (degrees minutes seconds button you used to enter the part 1 measurement) again after you press equals. And if you press the degree button again it should toggle back to the original entry.
I’ve noticed this is the case with some of our calculators at the school where I work. I’m assuming it is just a setting somewhere, but I have not yet figured that out. Sarina brought up a very good question here. The bottom line is that if you hit the DMS button once you have the result it will toggle back and forth.
That little symbol w/ the square root (left most icon) is telling you that the calculator is in "Math Input" mode. You will want this mode enabled b/c it makes things a lot nicer to type in b/c they look more how you would write them down. To enable: got to SETUP (Shift key); then type 1; then type 1 again. You should see that icon appear.
I think I must have had my setup a different way than a lot of you out there. If that happens, just push the same degree key again and it will switch back and forth between the two.
Woah, I was always confused about this part since Im basically the only 1 of 2 students in my whole class who use a classwiz while the majority uses the Fx-570MS
@@EstherOmowumi-ni9vr What do you mean by "get scanned"? I'm not sure what you are asking. Perhaps you could rephrase the question? I'd like to try and help.
@@EstherOmowumi-ni9vr Do you mean you wish your calculator had a copy of the manual on it? Sorry - I might be being dense, but I still am not sure I understand.
Degrees Minutes Seconds keys can also be used for Hours Minutes Seconds too.

Thanks. Yes, it's aggravating when you want a simple how to and someone stretches it into a 10-minute video for whatever reason.
For Casio fx-991ES after pressing =, press shift and then ° button again, you will get the answer
OMG thanks bro

Does the calculator need to be in a specific mode, because mine isnt working
Just the standard/normal mode. I think you are the second person with this issue. Not sure why it would not be working. Sorry.

Yes, it is tough when the calculator you are using is not the mainstream one. The good news is that you have a really good calculator!

What mode is this?
Normal mode (Menu 1) w/ MathI/MathO for Input/Output.
If you are seeing something different, try pushing the [° ' "] key again.

How to calculate the dates?
No idea. Have never worked with them on any calculator.
You can't do dates on most scientific calculators. There are some Casio desktop calculators for business which can do those calculations.
