I’m so thrilled to have found your youtube channel. I love your professionalism and your extensive knowledge. Thanks for actually showing how things work behind the scenes.
Thank you for this video! Also, thank you for speaking like a real person. I am a published writer for over 20 years, I am now 60, and I find that so manty younger females speak in a way where they drag the last word of every single sentence in a nasally long winded wayyyyyyyy. So, thank youuuuuuu for being a professional and nottttttt sounding like that.
I've watched this video many times - you did awesome, but I think Loom has updated how to do presentations. I am following what you did, but the use full screen with camera is not there. So I have my powerpoint presentation up - and can see that, but not my face in the circle. Unsure if you have an updated video to view? thank you
Thank you! And yes, you’re absolutely right that they’ve made updates since I released this video. (I’ll mark this down as a vote for a potential updated Loom tutorial.) The difference might also come from using the Chrome extension vs. the Mac download. Just a hunch.
I appreciate you making this, I do not have an apple product so I do not get many of the menus you have. Can you do a new updated 1 that is not 2 years old??
Hello, Great videos and this helped me a lot- I am doing a training and I am trying to figure out the following if you can please advise. When I am sharing a screen and my image is a circle at the bottom, I want to pause the screen sharing and make myself full on the screen to explain something Once done go back to sharing the screen. I saw someone once do it by punching a shortcut on the keyboard. Would you happen to know how I can do that? Thanks a million
Thanks for the tutorial. How can I switch between full screen video and Loom (screen recording + little round face), as you did it. For example, in the beginning and in the end of your video you were full screen, but in between you had the presentation mode on.
Great question. In this video, we recorded multiple clips. In Loom, unfortunately there’s no way to switch between camera and screen recording within one recording, but you can stitch multiple videos together.
Hi Melissa. I just wanted to say a massive thank you. Less than 1 week ago I had no idea where to start from with creating my group coaching membership. Thanks to your videos I already recorded my first lesson in Loom and uploaded it in the course I set up on Teachable. Thank you so much!
when I edit videos, can I hide a specific part within the video. For example if I screen record something and I want to cover a company details or email or sensitive infos?
Great question! While you’re recording, you have the ability to use the Blur feature within loom to blur sensitive information. (It sounds like that should work.) That said, if you need to edit something that’s already been recorded, or if you need a fuller suite of editing options, you’ll likely need another tool. (Even something like Tella might work for the future: witandwire.com/tella)
Thank you. That answered a very big question that I had not seen anyone else address (including the loom site): the ability to edit more than just the beginning or end of the video, but to be able to cut elements out from anywhere in the recording.
You can actually take screenshots with Loom (witandwire.com/loom)! Or if you're on a Mac computer, there are built in Macbook shortcuts. You can Google "Macbook screenshot" to find the right version for your device, and although I'm not 100% sure, I'd guess PCs hvae something, too.
Thank you! Yes it is possible to have a virtual background on Loom. Here's how to add a virtual background: support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406587357329-How-to-add-a-virtual-background-to-your-camera-bubble - Team Wit & Wire✨
I am having trouble using my second monitor with Loom for recording. Maybe you can help. 1, I cannot move the Loom toolbar in my second monitor. 2. When I use selected part of the screen, I cannot see the slide show controls in Powerpoint. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, your tutorial has been really helpful but i had one question i am using loom to record videos but when i record them i use my headphones now when i screen record with my headphones the video has no sound how do i screenrecord the sound of my laptop with my headphones on ? i cant seem to find any anwsers online thank you
Great question. I recommend the desktop version of the app, and if you scroll about halfway down here, you can see where you can update the preferences (before you do the recording) to "Use System Audio." That'll record the audio coming from your computer. support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002449178-How-to-capture-internal-audio-system-audio
I am trying to figure out if Loom can record the other screen when you are on ZOOM when sharing a screen. .IT seems that when I am with students live on ZOOM but recording on LOOM if I share my screen via ZOOM, Loom will record the audio only and NOT show the screen that is shared.
Great question. Since Zoom and Loom both have recording capabilities, it often creates errors to try and use both at the same time. I would recommend using only one at a time, so if you’re live on a Zoom call with students, you would most likely need to record the video with Zoom.
Hi there, i great video. i have a multiple monitor set up and whne i bring loom how do i move the camera with the little circle of me to other monitors?? it wont let me unless i move the whole page which isn't what i want to do? thx
Great question! I also use a two-monitor setup. When you choose the recording area, it'll prompt you to choose which monitor you want to record. The circle (picture-in-picture video) must also be on the same screen you're recording. So what I usually do is choose the "Custom Size" recording option, and then you can move the circle around within the rectangle portion of the screen that you record. I hope that helps!
Rather than recording video, sound and slides as a single track recording from left to right - what are your thoughts about cutting, splicing and stitching each of those components as separate tracks and composing the course video in Adobe Premiere Pro?
Great question. I think it’s up to you, and ultimately I’d recommend whatever workflow feels easiest and most efficient. For most people, I have a hunch that it’s simplest to record sequentially and using as few tracks as possible, but that might not be true for everyone. (And by the way, if you’re looking for something that does multitrack recording with multiple voices, then Loom might not be the right tool.) I hope that helps!
Great question. I actually don’t think you can download videos with altered speeds through Loom (he loom player allows watchers to alter the speed, but it doesn’t change the original file). I think the best solution would be to download the files and then import them into a more robust video editing tool with speed tools. Hope this helps! Team Wit & Wire
hi....i find out that my mic volume is very low. i literally cant hear myself. i use the inbuilt microphone installed on my mic. is there any other form of amplication i can use. Would i have to buy an extra mic attached to myself and how do i connect it to my MAC
Great question, and yes, I’d recommend using an external microphone. Hi there! You can use Loom to record your Canva presentation, and it would be up to you if you enable sound in Canva (to capture sound effects), Loom only (to capture a microphone), or neither. - Canva: witandwire.com/canva - Loom: witandwire.com/loom
"I haven't been able to get Loom to record the screen along with the PC camera at the same time while I browse and work on other things on the PC such as Excel, PowerPoint, or explore folders. Does it only record along with the PC camera while browsing in the Chrome browser?" Please help, thank you :)
Great question! It’s definitely possible, but if it isn’t working, it might come down to which part of your screen you choose to record in Loom. (You have options before you start the recording.) I would recommend downloading the Loom app rather than using the Chrome extension to see if that works: witandwire.com/loom
quick question! can you connect an external cam rather than using the laptop built-in webcam? Mac is currently at crappy 720p resolution:( If so, would an external cam improve the screen recording quality as well?
Great question! Yes, you can choose any audio and video inputs, which means you can use any camera or microphone plugged into your computer. The external camera won't have an impact on the screen recording though, because it's only used to record video shot through its lens, typically you. Loom itself is the recording tool for the screen.
Hey Amy! I _think_ this is what you're looking for? (lmk if I misunderstood!) support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002241177-How-to-record-a-custom-size-video
Great question! We'd recommend opening your presenter notes in a different window from the Loom recording or using a different monitor for your notes. You can find more information on how to present here: support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002236078-How-to-record-a-presentation-with-Loom- - Team Wit & Wire
Yes, you can record your computer's audio! Once you create a Loom account (witandwire.com/loom) you have to download the Desktop app and there are help articles from Loom on how to capture what's called "internal audio" or "system audio" from your computer.
If you share audio from your computer and play music from your iTunes, then yes, it will be recorded in Loom. (As a precaution, I would recommend ensuring that you have legal permission to use any audio shared.)
Great question. You can record in Loom and then download those files, so yes, it is technically possible and could be a good fit if you’d like to include screenshare videos on social media. But for most social media videos, I’d recommend shooting them directly on your phone in a vertical format (Loom really shines for computer usage and screenshare videos). Team Wit & Wire
It depends on the course creation platform. For some course platforms, like Teachable or ThriveCart you can select "Share" and usie the embed the code. Other platforms may allow you sharing using a link. - Team Wit & Wire
Great question. I had to use another tool to film this video (because Loom can't film itself), but I've used Loom for many of the other videos on Wit & Wire's TH-cam channel. (I'm not 100% sure which tool I used here, I test quite a few! But Loom is my go-to.)
Hi Melissa, thanks for the video! It was straight to the desired skills. I have a question about the arrows you use to point out some of the features in your video - where do you find those arrows? Are they part of loom or are you using something else? Exactly at 6:04 you highlight the loom dashboard on the left with an arrow pointing at the pause button. Where do you get that arrow from? Thanks a lot😊
Hey John! Those videos are added in post-production by my video editor, Katie. I don’t know of any recording tools that will allow you to add those arrows while recording, but some (including Loom) do let you draw onscreen, like a temporary virtual marker. But for arrows like those, you’d most likely be looking for a more robust editing tool, although you could export your recording from Loom, since many editing tools aren’t also screenrecording tools. If you’re looking for an all-in-one option, I recommend Descript (witandwire.com/descript). I hope that helps!
Hello! Any ideas on how to change the contrast of the loom video? I am finding that my videos look they're overexposed, and it makes it hard to see some things that are clear or my monitor in real life, but awful on the screen.
Great question! Since the issue sounds like it’s with the video footage itself, I’d recommend checking out your camera settings. To test it out, you could try recording with another software. If you test elsewhere, and see the issue is only in Loom, then you can reach out to their support directly. Hope that helps! Team Wit & Wire
You can use any webcam, so I use this Logitech: amzn.to/3QNfdCv I use this light for my TH-cam videos, which are recorded on an iPhone: amzn.to/3C7xl62 But you can use any lighting - including natural light - and any webcam with Loom.
Great question. Loom doesn’t record anything remotely, so it wouldn’t be the right tool for any collaboration. (It records locally only, which means it can only record you on your own computer.) For a collaboration, I’d recommend witadwire.com/ecamm or witandwire.com/descript
@@witandwire I've been looking at a lot of options, and I'll check these out too, thanks! (Although nothing seems to work well... Discord, mimoLive, riverside, OBS, janky watch together sites...) I'm probably gonna just have to have each person record themselves and then manually stitch the video and audio all together in Resolve if I want nice 60fps video with attractive borders. (Basically we're all just watching TH-cam clips.) Bleh, still might try to locally capture/record our Discord call video with OBS... meh, probably won't work. Just so much more headache than it should be. 😅
Nice tutorial! At the 8:21 mark there is an arrow to highlight the "save changes" button - is that arrow an editing feature of Loom? Or, did you use a separate software for additional editing capability? I see further down in the comment section you mentioned Screenflick.
Great question! Loom doesn't have arrows or graphics in their editing toolset, so those were added separately. (I still recorded in Loom, but I get a little fancier with help from my editor for TH-cam videos.) A few options I like with graphics: - iMovie (included on Mac) - Screenflow: witandwire.com/screenflow - Screencast-o-matic: witandwire.com/screencastomatic (a little more complex than Loom, but also more capable at a similar price point)
@@witandwire I wondered about this, too. Can you take a Loom video into iMovie or Screenflow and add arrows and graphics this way (as opposed to filming on those platforms)?
Hi there! Loom is a video editing software (for very minor cuts and trims only). Otherwise, you can download any Loom video and upload it into your editing software of choice.
If somebody share a video when I open the video I just got like four seconds on sound and then freezing is something I could do on my Mac on settings or something else I’ll appreciate feedback on the comments thank you
This sounds like more of a technical issue that you will need to contact Loom Support to troubleshoot. I would begin there to see if they can provide you with some guidance. Team Wit & Wire

Hi Melissa thaks for this tutorial, I am currently with Vimeo and it is expensive! However I need to be able to embed videos into my website, which I can do but can't seem to remove the players, title, name etc so it is just the play button. I am still on the free trial after watching your video but can't seem to figure it out and Loom support have not been helpful so far many thanks
Great question! You're right that there isn't a native way to do that in Loom, which I personally think is a major oversight. I use some advanced coding to hide the title and name in my courses, but that only works in an embed (not when you share a direct link). If you're only looking for video hosting, I think Screenpal (witandwire.com/screenpal) has the best unlimited video hosting with a much better embeddable player, and their recording tool is decent. But in my experience, their editing tool isn't very intuitive, so there's pros and cons there. (But if you just want to replace Vimeo, ScreenPal could be great.) I hope that helps!
Hi, great question! Here's a quick article by Loom that walks you through the process for turning the "Highlight mouse clicks" function on/off: support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002241157-How-to-highlight-your-mouse-clicks. Hope this helps! Team Wit & Wire
Great question! Melissa uses the Shure MV7. If you're interested in learning more about our microphone recommendations, check out this blog: witandwire.com/best-podcast-microphone-for-beginners/ Team Wit & Wire
I usually use Loom for all recordings like this. (And just my iPhone at the beginning when I'm talking to camera.) But because I was recording me recording in Loom, I had to use Screenflick, another similar tool. But all other TH-cam demos you see on my channel with my screen are done in Loom!
@@witandwire I just tested using Loom vs. Screenflick to screen record. Screentflick has a perfect 4k resolution, while Loom can only go up to 1440p HD. But screenflick has an ugly design for the presenter on camera, not the bubble feature Loom has. Heard Loom record quality heavily depends on the internet speed. Is that true? I just find it werid not being able to screen record at a higher resolution...
Hi Katrien, the free version of Loom should allow you the option for instant editing. Since you're not seeing the option, I would contact their Support Team to see if they can assist you with this feature. Hope this helps! Thanks, Team Wit & Wire
It's still there! If you aren't seeing it - whether you're using the Chrome extension or the Desktop app - there could be a bug, or possibly it's in a different place than it appears for me. The best way to get support would be to contact Loom's support team (which you can do through your account.)
I'm so glad it was helpful! And great question. I haven't tried it, although I'm guessing the recording functions are really similar. I just checked and it looks like you can trim videos on Vimeo, but I'm not sure if you can edit in the middle, the way you can with Loom. Lastly, I'm not sure if Vimeo auto-transcribes videos, which I know is one of my favorite accessibility features on Loom. But I have a feeling it's a great option - thanks for suggesting it! I'll definitely check it out :)
One other thing... how do you create that projector view where the content is being projected on a screen, yet the screen is on a background which includes the presenter talking (i.e presented in the whole shot rather than in a circle?). How do you do that in loom? See 3:50 on this video th-cam.com/video/8dOQALlIbZ8/w-d-xo.html
Great question. You can do this with a green screen (in your room) and a green screen effect (in the program). A user-friendly option for the editing tool & effect is Descript: witandwire.com/descript
That’s right, there’s a time limit on the free plan. If you’d like to extend that time limit and still use Loom, you’ll need to upgrade. (There’s no way around that.)
Great question. I think everyone uses them differently (or not at at all). For example, I personally don't use speaker notes when I teach curriculum. They also show up in different places in PowerPoint vs. Google Slides. I think it's an excellent tool though, so no matter what you choose, I think the key takeaway hopefully from this tutorial is that you can record just part of your screen in the Loom video so that the notes on the side aren't included. I'm not exactly sure if that's what you were looking for, but I hope it helps!
Loom sucks it lags my command take up all my storage, I spend 10 hours recording a 6 minutes video and I couldn’t even download my video, loom literally sucks
I'm so sorry to hear the uploading lagged for you. If you haven't already, I'd recommend reaching out to Loom's support, since that's definitely not the intended behavior. (It could be a system incompatibility? A glitch that's been resolved? Their team would know best.)

Hi, I don't seem to have custom size option on my loom? Where can I find it? Thanks :)
Hey Amy! I _think_ this is what you're looking for? (lmk if I misunderstood!) support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002241177-How-to-record-a-custom-size-video
How can you see presenter notes from google docs and have your camera and screen all at the same time?
Great question! We'd recommend opening your presenter notes in a different window from the Loom recording or using a different monitor for your notes.
You can find more information on how to present here: support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002236078-How-to-record-a-presentation-with-Loom-

do you know if it records the internal audio on screen record... so for like doing reaction videos of a video?
Yes, you can record your computer's audio! Once you create a Loom account (witandwire.com/loom) you have to download the Desktop app and there are help articles from Loom on how to capture what's called "internal audio" or "system audio" from your computer.
Is there a option where you can add music?
If you share audio from your computer and play music from your iTunes, then yes, it will be recorded in Loom. (As a precaution, I would recommend ensuring that you have legal permission to use any audio shared.)
are you able to load your videos to Instagram and tiktok?
Great question. You can record in Loom and then download those files, so yes, it is technically possible and could be a good fit if you’d like to include screenshare videos on social media. But for most social media videos, I’d recommend shooting them directly on your phone in a vertical format (Loom really shines for computer usage and screenshare videos).

I think I may have missed it, but how would I go about uploading this recording in loom to my course creation platform?
It depends on the course creation platform.
For some course platforms, like Teachable or ThriveCart you can select "Share" and usie the embed the code. Other platforms may allow you sharing using a link.

Hi there!
Thank you for the video. I have 1 question. Did you use loom to film this video? Asking because your camera view looks crisp.
Canva studio allows it

What camera and lighting setup are you using while using loom?
You can use any webcam, so I use this Logitech: amzn.to/3QNfdCv
I use this light for my TH-cam videos, which are recorded on an iPhone: amzn.to/3C7xl62
But you can use any lighting - including natural light - and any webcam with Loom.
Wondering... does this record video calls for collabs?
(Basically we're all just watching TH-cam clips.)
Bleh, still might try to locally capture/record our Discord call video with OBS... meh, probably won't work.
(I still recorded in Loom, but I get a little fancier with help from my editor for TH-cam videos.) A few options I like with graphics:
- iMovie (included on Mac)
- Screenflow: witandwire.com/screenflow
- Screencast-o-matic: witandwire.com/screencastomatic (a little more complex than Loom, but also more capable at a similar price point)
@@witandwire I wondered about this, too. Can you take a Loom video into iMovie or Screenflow and add arrows and graphics this way (as opposed to filming on those platforms)?
Very informative video, thank you for it 🙌🏼🔥
I'm so glad it was helpful!
Hello how do you add the loom video into your video editing software?

Can I download my videos to my computer files?
Yes, you can download any of your own Loom videos to your computer.

Super helpful. Thank you so much.
Glad I could help!
Is there a way to show my cursor while i'm screen recording?
Hi, great question! Here's a quick article by Loom that walks you through the process for turning the "Highlight mouse clicks" function on/off: support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002241157-How-to-highlight-your-mouse-clicks. Hope this helps!

muy claro todo, muchas gracias!!!
de nada!
So helpful thank you so much!
You're welcome!
What did you use to record this video?
Hey hi
Nice video
But how to add change the voice in loom
Great question!
Once you're ready to record, you can change the audio in settings. Just click the audio or microphone icon.

is it possible that the video editing is only possible in the payed version? I don't have them on my screen :(
(i only see 'review transcript')
Hi Katrien, the free version of Loom should allow you the option for instant editing. Since you're not seeing the option, I would contact their Support Team to see if they can assist you with this feature. Hope this helps!
Thanks,

Amazing video , i found it very useful to record my videos for youtube .
cheers 🥳
Thanks! I'm so glad to hear you found it useful!
There is no more custome screen size? what happened?
It's still there! If you aren't seeing it - whether you're using the Chrome extension or the Desktop app - there could be a bug, or possibly it's in a different place than it appears for me. The best way to get support would be to contact Loom's support team (which you can do through your account.)
@Wit&Wire This was super helpful. Have you tried Vimeo screen recording? If so how do these compare in your opinion?
New Subscriber here! 💜
Really awesome video
Thank you! I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed it!
Great video. Thank you so much!
Thanks! You're very welcome!
Do students need loom also
If you are embedding into a course creation platform, then no. Students should be able to view without having
to set up an account.
- Team Wit & Wire
One other thing... how do you create that projector view where the content is being projected on a screen, yet the screen is on a background which includes the presenter talking (i.e presented in the whole shot rather than in a circle?). How do you do that in loom? See 3:50 on this video th-cam.com/video/8dOQALlIbZ8/w-d-xo.html
Great question. You can do this with a green screen (in your room) and a green screen effect (in the program). A user-friendly option for the editing tool & effect is Descript: witandwire.com/descript
Thank you Melissa.
You're welcome!
Thanks
You're welcome!
But there is time limitation --, how to use it for free all the time with no limitations.?
That’s right, there’s a time limit on the free plan. If you’d like to extend that time limit and still use Loom, you’ll need to upgrade. (There’s no way around that.)
Why does nobody talk about how to show your speakers notes ?
Great question. I think everyone uses them differently (or not at at all). For example, I personally don't use speaker notes when I teach curriculum. They also show up in different places in PowerPoint vs. Google Slides. I think it's an excellent tool though, so no matter what you choose, I think the key takeaway hopefully from this tutorial is that you can record just part of your screen in the Loom video so that the notes on the side aren't included.
I'm not exactly sure if that's what you were looking for, but I hope it helps!
App is crashing as I open plz help

Loom sucks it lags my command take up all my storage, I spend 10 hours recording a 6 minutes video and I couldn’t even download my video, loom literally sucks
I'm so sorry to hear the uploading lagged for you. If you haven't already, I'd recommend reaching out to Loom's support, since that's definitely not the intended behavior. (It could be a system incompatibility? A glitch that's been resolved? Their team would know best.)

This is a Ultra garbage Tool doesnt even Work offline. Not even when you have 25MB/s download 5Mb/s upload. So on the go with a mobilephone not usable.
You’re right, Loom is intended to record on a computer and uses Wifi. If you’re looking for a mobile recording tool, I agree that other tools would be a better fit.
