As much as it is interesting to discuss the Waters/Gilmour dynamic or Pink Floyd in general, how about the meaning expressed in the Deja Vu track itself? Why is there no discussion of the lyrics included in this posting. Waters offers searing commentary on religion, drone warfare, environmental catastrophe and through it all-love. How many artists are delivering such timely and meaningful lyrics today or ever, for that matter. One can only imagine what we may have heard from Lennon had he survived. Perhaps we need to really treasure this guy...

Want proof, just look at his life the last 30 years, the dude fancies himself an angry and intolerant Ghandi. This caused huge divisions within the band. Waters can write and conceptualize at the highest level but is an average musician and a below average singer. Gilmour cannot write like Waters, but is a great musician and a good singer. Wright could play very well too and Mason was the steady glue that held it all together. He is the only living member of Pink Floyd who has not moved on and still gives a shit about this old argument and it is pathetic. He is obsessed with who gets credit for doing what 40 years ago.

Roger is and always be the most amazing song writer of the time. I adored his time with Floyd, I think he was blamed and ostracised from the rest of the band because the others really didn’t pull their weight! He was the writer, arranger and lyricist. The only thing is though when he produced Amused to Death ( personally one of my favourite Waters album) ..... it was perfection! Somehow the new album tells me that he’s tired. It’s also a shame that he stood away from mix and finished production. To me, all be it that the lyrics are beautiful, it needed some more guitar Beck style. Shame as I imagine this will be His final cut. 😔
