- Today, I shared several heat embossing techniques that create the look of having embossing powder is any color you want! I shared solid color, gradient, resist, AND how to use color to edge specific images and make all of it look heat embossed! I hope you will give these fun techniques a try!

The mess is funny! That’s just the way it looks when you’re so busy crafting!!
Re: dampness getting in to embossing powder, if I lived in a damp area, I would use the little packet from a bottle of vitamins to ‘Keep my powder dry’ 😉
^ This! I have had clumpy embossing powder that was effected by moisture and added the silica packets. Came back to them a couple months later, broke up the clumps and they were just fine. I have embossing powder from The Personal Stamp Exchange, which closed in the late 90's and it's still good. Embossing powder doesn't go bad IMO. Just use the silica packets to remove moisture and you're all good.

@@jeanettereynolds3151 I can think of 3 things that might be happening. •If you can, be sure to use the little bag of anti-static powder on your cardstock before stamping the words. •Your embossing and watermark ink pad might need to be freshly re-inked. Usually after you pour on the drops from the bottle, it helps to press an old debit card back and forth over the pad to distribute it evenly. •A clear acrylic stamping block or a stamping platform like a Misti will let you apply pressure evenly. I notice Gina K often says she likes to stamp a fine detail stamp several times with the stamping platform. That way the ink doesn’t have to be too thick, and the pressure doesn’t have to be too hard. The repetition does the job.
•Oops, I forgot #4. You can pre-heat your heat tool first for about 30 seconds. That can help the powder melt right away.

Oh, Gina, never be embarrassed about your "mess". All crafter make a mess. (Well, maybe there are one or two who are compulsively neat.) If you ever saw mine, you would never think you're messy.

I live in a very dry climate, SW Wyoming, and I’ve never had an issue with my embossing powders.
Years ago, I had this sign, and it said...... a messes desk is a sign of a genius ,lol

I've heard of people here in the UK saying that their embossing powder has gone off, but I've got some over 30 years old that still works. I wonder if they get contaminated, or as you mentioned, humidity. ❤

You can get a 4' magnetic bowl at Harbor Freight for $2.09. All of my dies go right in there as soon as I cut with them. But beware...dies will stick to the bottom of it and drive you crazy looking for them!

I'm sure Gina is correct, humidity is the culprit with lumpy embossing powder. I had to move my collection to an art case that I filled with silica packets. Some required special attention. The ones with glitter had less clumping problems. My entire collection recovered nicely. Majority are 15-20 years old.
Only black, clear & white embossing powder were ever re-purchased. That confirms, they're really all you need.

I have had my clear embossing powder for close to 30 years, and it still works just as well as when it was new. I have it in a Gladlock container.

I have embossing powders that I bought when I first started making cards and needed every colour on earth and I still use them probably about 15 yrs ago no kidding I haven’t tried all the colours but I still use the same ones. I remember when I started we used to come to the states for 3 months so I ordered every colour of cardstock you carried and had it delivered to
The house we were renting I saved a ton of postage and I still have some that cardstock left and still using have to admit
I should not have ordered all the colours because still a couple that have not been opened this is at least 10 or so years ago

The blue color combination is gorgeous!
I have two ink cube trays made from a Russell Stover chocolates box, and I wrote the name of each color underneath the cube, on the box. Then if they slide around before I put the ink cubes back, it is easy to know where they go. Thanks for telling us to find the color charts on your Facebook page, looking forward to that.
So now I need to go eat a box of chocolates?! 🤩😂😂
