      These are, and the brand as a whole, some of THE best speakers I have ever heard (as you would say), FULL STOP!!! I would have loved that you guys had gotten 5 of them, plus, say a D12 subwoofer, then done the review. I am 100% positive you would get over the styling really fast. IMHO, I love how they look, sans the grills, particularly the patterns on the woofer, and the waveguide. Yet, with all that being said, the ST7 Towers destroy these(no sub required). 🤔 also, I feel like if Andrew were still making films, he'd more than likely mix with these speakers. The line as a whole is cinema grade. If you're into home theater and want to feel as if you're on a sound stage, the Perlisten line is a no-brainer. I own several brands of speakers, which include Goldenear Triton Reference; Spatial Audio X4's, ML ESL 9's, and so on, each loved for different reasons. But if I were shutting it down, Perlisten S7t' s would most likely be where I'd stop. And this is before we even get to the subs...smdh! (Inttersting side note, Dan Roemer, the CEO and head designer at Perlisten, was also at Arendal) I DARE YOU ANDREW, get the S7T's and two D12/15 Subs, and see what happens. Love you guys, and all you do, although you spent WAAAAAY too much time talking about how the speakers looked, keep up the great work, and I look forward to the next video. 👍🏿 Peace ✌️

      They don't look that bad to me, it looks like the design should reduce reflections. Andrew are you using homemade speaker cable or something off the shelf? Also how do you think the Polk R700's stack up against these?

    First and foremost those two are "relationship goals" material. The more I listen to Andrew and Kristi the more I get to hear new technical lingo which I don't understand (let alone, many of those speakers are way above my pay grade -meaning it literally-) and for a reason and yet again I still click on the links from Andrew. I try to learn from you both and then I find myself treating the videos like they're ASMR videos. Love you both. Greetings from Istanbul Turkey :)

    I am using these, with a good sub, for 2.1 channel channel home theater, as well as music. They are WAY better than the 5.1 system that they replaced. They are good close to a wall because they are sealed, not ported. This limits the bass extension, but makes them very easy to integrate with a sub. Mine actually sound a little better closer to the wall, even with the TV, which is really cool. Have used both SVS and Rel subs, and both work great. The Perlisten subs would almost certainly be the best if you can and want to spend that much. The Perlisten stands are super heavy and COOL LOOKING, but expensive. They help the appearance quite a bit, and the speakers actually attach to the stands. The looks of the speaker will probably not bother you after a while. If you get black, they kind of disappear in a dark home theater anyway--and as you said they disappear sonically. That is the best part.

    • @KristiWright
      @KristiWright 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can confirm the stands are extremely heavy and cost prohibitive.

    You're in my wheelhouse now Andrew. I've personally auditioned Perlisten's S7t, R7t, S5M, R5M, BUT NOT the S4B. I prefer to not use subs in my two channel system, which the S4B definitely require (I do use two subs in my HT system). Conclusion, in my opinion Perlisten speakers are true high end Home Theater speakers, but not necessarily marketable or appealing to those of us who can afford $10K high end speakers. Whoever is considering the S4B, I encourage to audition Paradigm Persona 3F. Sonically, and aesthetically they are superior to S4B.
    The Persona line has beryllium tweeter and midrange driver, additionally their soundstage is world class. Thank you Andrew and Kristi for continuing to provide your viewers with an extensively variety of Audio and Video product reviews.

But if it blows you away sonically, just tell everyone to close their eyes and listen. I think for the price , there are more options that will get you close to the performance at a significantly lower price. Kristi with a magical email, hopefully you can get a review sample of Mofi’s Sourcepoint 10 speakers in for review. Now that’s a speaker that interests me. Cheers.

    Yes I agree Perlisten speakers are on the pricey side and most likely not affordable for most people, but I must say they are, IMO, quite a beautifully designed speaker and the looks are quite appealing to me. Just an FYI, I’ve heard some reputable industry insiders say that the Perlisten CEO, Dan Roemer was the engineering and design mind behind Arendal Sound’s flagship 1723 series speakers.

  • @joes3800
    @joes3800 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have been very curious to hear any Perlisten speakers. They seem to be the best of all worlds due to both design and hype: neutral, great but controlled dispersion, an *almost* concentric tweeter and midrange to improve imaging, extremely transparent and articulate and punchy, and all while being superior to nearly any other speaker brand at any price when it comes to dynamic range (especially for their larger speakers.) The hype compels me to want these as my end-game speakers, but I would really want to listen to them first before even thinking about saving up to spend that kind of money.

  • @Shift4g

Keeping the model a secret just for fun.. You indicated that this Perlisten is "one of the best sounding speakers"... So that begs the question... What are you're 5 favorite speakers? Or is that a planned end of year video??!!:)). Yes, I watched the entire video... While typing .. So I heard there will be the "best".... I'm sure you'll consider breaking that list into various price points?? Keep up the good work, fun to listen...

      I'm considering buying them but not sure about the price, though they cost half, I still not sure they worth that kind of money. I think they should cut prices by half, and then they'll match the reality, they are not good looking and they sound very natural. I wasn't blown away by them when listening.

      Polk R700 at their price are unbeatable. They give many speakers that cost twice the price a run for their money. However at $2000 a pair, towers no less, they do not compared to the bookshelf Perlisten S4b at 10k a pair. Perlisten towers are literally 10 times the price of Polk reserve

    Assuming the design choices relate to solving acoustic problems (like diffraction), how much performance are you two willing to give up for a speaker to go from being acceptable looking to great looking?
    It’s an issue I run into a lot because the best speakers are often… not beautiful. Then I listen to them and I think… okay, I can deal with that.

They look like street lights or f-ed up stormtrooper helmets etc. I would rather physically look at Revel Studio 2 speakers (and I don't think they're the most beautiful either), but for me, looks matter --especially when spending a TON of money!

    I am not a fan of the look of those SB Acoustics "checkboard" woofers, or the overall design of these speakers, but performance is ultimately all that matters...would love to hear these things.

    • @stevejain9942
      @stevejain9942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The drivers are NOT SB acoustics. Every Perlisten driver is made by Perlisten for Perlisten in Perlisten’s factory. The cone material is from the same manufacturer but that is the only similarity

  • @mikerhodes9198
    @mikerhodes9198 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Visual style and acoustic perfection (as far as possible) are two reasons people buy speakers. But if you buy a pair of speakers based on looks alone you can miss out on the best sound. One of the reasons B&W or Perlisten have a good sound is the design of the front panel. Essentially, B&W, Perlisten and others utilize a technique to minimize the amount of wood surrounding the speakers removing as much as possible along with smooth rounding and tapering the wood away from the front panel to open up the sound. In-room frequency responses are better and this can enlarge the sound stage. I know this is probably not interesting to Kristi but it does explain why some speakers incorporate this design into their speakers. So many things can effect speakers but this is a design enhancement that design engineers can provide for out of the box. Little things can have big impact on sound quality. I saw a real time frequency response graph change drastically in a speaker face design when they moved the tweeter position placement by mere millimeters so a lot of engineering design goes into the speaker box. Unfortunately, this produces some strange looking speakers. And MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  • @Johnnytrades101
    @Johnnytrades101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Correct me if I am wrong. The Perlisten line is designed for home theater rather than a HiFi 2ch setting. Although they definitely can be used for both. Esthetics are not a priority in that application. Hence the B&W which look much nicer.

    • @andrewrobinsonreviews
      @andrewrobinsonreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A speaker is a speaker, and while they may be home theater centric in some folks eyes, if true, they would come ONLY in flat black but they come in a myriad of custom finishes because Perlisten realizes they're more than screening room speakers. That said, home theater speakers don't get a pass on looks --this is one of the biggest issues HT has to overcome in getting more people to accept 5+ speakers in a living space.

    • @Powerpickle68
      @Powerpickle68 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree with that. I can understand the point about esthetics along with fit/finish when a speaker is budget minded of say 500 per pair or less but at 10,000 ?
