- Hey guys! The time has finally come and the pre-COVID videos are gone. From now on, we'll be heading deeper and deeper into this thing. This video is the start of the last trip I went on before halting all my flights due to the pandemic. Not so much with this flight, but with the rest of the trip, it was quite a nerve-racking experience that definitely told me I shouldn't be flying anymore. Anyways, it was my first time flying out of Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, PA and first time flying into Tampa, so this trip was full of firsts for me. Because of growing fears about the virus, many people on my plane didn't even show up when they booked the flight, so it was quite a nice experience for me with a full row to myself. The cabin didn't have Spirit's newest interior, however I noticed the seats weren't as bad as they could've been. There's still no excuses for the tray table and "seatback pocket" (if you can call it that) which need to get the axe soon. I'd also like to see Spirit implement WiFi onboard for pax to purchase if they please. Besides these things, was an enjoyable flight down to Tampa, despite there not being a whole lot to see below because of all the clouds. Hope you guys enjoy!

Excellent report! For all of the drama and horror stories I've read about Spirit, your reporting was clear, concise and sans drama. Danke.
Most of the horror stories on spirit are because of weather and people just want to blame the airline
@@kaner1205 Yeah, I agree, some people will complain about anything. I don't see what is so bad about Spirit airlines. It's no worse than other airlines, except for the little ropes for seatback pocket and little tray tables. But they're both small things, I've rarely kept anything I want in seatback pockets anyway and little tray tables don't even matter when they don't serve meals on domestic flights anymore anyway (Spirit doesn't have international flights)
@@alvexok5523 Spirit actually does have some international flights to the Caribbean and Latin America.

TPA is one of the most underrated airports in the country. Glad to see you work it in. Waiting on your GSP trip eventually, one of the best small airport in the nation as well.

Excellent vid! Being that I live in Tampa and currently work at TPA. I must say if landing on runway 19L, it is best to be sitting on the left side of the aircraft for the best view of the city's skyline by the water. If landing runway 19R, the right side is best because you see the bay in its entirety with St. Pete and clearwater on the other side. Great job on the video

The airline operations at small D class airports is really intriguing. Frontier operates flights out of KTTN pre covid they had 10 flights a day
I don't see how there is any demand at those small airports

Left Latrobe in 1979 for the Air Force. Looks like She has grown a bit.
I live on top of a ridge about 20 miles from Latrobe and I am directly under the Approach and departure route so I see and hear these flights everyday.. a friend of mine flew into Latrobe last summer and stopped to visit because he saw me cutting grass in my tractor..

Latrobe airport looks similar to the Trenton, NJ airport, which only serves Frontier. I imagine LBE is an alternate to PIT like TTN is an alternate to PHL and EWR.

LBE's terminal kinda reminds me of the old MDW terminal back in the day before MDW added jet bridges. Only a few gates had em.
Ahhhh...Tampa! I used to live there in 97-2000 for USF college! I-275! and Ybor City! Did you go smoke some cigars in Ybor? Cuban Sandwiches and all those bar/clubs! I need to visit Tampa soon, I miss it. Thanks for the video! Makes me want to go to Tampa like right now LOL!

A few years ago we flew Spirit DTW-TPA just ahead of a tropical storm coming ashore; landing was a roller-coaster, but it was actually pretty fun!
Spirit uses an antiviral fog to make sure surfaces stay virus free, as well as cleaners wiping down all high touch surfaces (trays, seatbelts, buttons, etc)...these cleaners hit the plane after each and every flight before passengers board. Our new seats (being installed over time) have larger and more stable trays and have more leg room. I think you'll be very happy with these improvements.

"Latrobe" is a French word meaning "The Trobe".

@Chris Jazz i hope breeze expands their routes from tpa to avl and iad. i'm not too fond of spirit. allegiant isn't bad but their nowhere near as cheap as breeze is.

I was born and grew up in Latrobe. Now I live in Ligonier. We always wanted to fly out of Latrobe to Orlando but we’re always worried about Spirit, Herd bad things about them so we always drove to Pgh and took Southwest ❤️. So tell us, was Spirit an OK airline? Good points, Bad points?
Well Southwest is better any day of the week. Flying from Latrobe on Spirit is really for the free parking and not having to deal with PIT. I think they're not too bad if you can deal with bad legroom and not taking any luggage, but if you have to travel with a lot of bags, take Southwest imo.

LBE? It's like in Puerto Rico. Most people only knows SJU, but we have Aguadilla (BQN) and Ponce (PSE). Those are regional airport on the west and south part of Puerto Rico. But jetBlue, Spirit and United fly there. Thank for sharing an amazing video as usual! Excellent job!! Gracias!!!!
Btw. In Aguadilla they board and deplane via stairs (love that)
Thanks a lot! Nope just Spirit operates from LBE. But yah a lot of the times these secondary airports are so much easier to fly out of than the bigger ones like PIT or SJU for instance

I don't think you can, because Spirit doesn't fly out of GSP, and Spirit is the only carrier at LBE. You can try to get a connecting flight to Pittsburgh though.

I fly Spirit because the cost is low. I can go 2 hrs without snacks or WiFi. I just wish that half the passengers would NOT bring their McDonalds on board. Horrible food smell and they leave the trash all over the floor and seats. I'm always sickened by the ignorant passengers when exiting the "flying city bus".

On new deliveries, trays are bigger with aircraft literature moved to the top of the seat. Not sure if there's a timeline for retrofits

It if you go by the city limit population it is. I think Jax city limits include all of Duval county. If you go by metro population, Tampa and Miami are much larger, while Orlando is slightly larger that Jax.

Fly on a Spirit Airbus A320neo if i were u its the newest spirit interior with prereclined seats and a full sized tray table plus the big front seats have adjustable headrests
They operate on the A320 schedule, it is luck based whether you get a NEO or not.
