I’ve NEVER seen an interview like this

  • Yikes, the Carolina Hurricanes had themselves a flat out bad time tonight. Which meant, we got ourselves a HEATED Rod Brind'Amour who gave a mid game interview from the bench unlike anything I have seen as he bit his tongue trying not to swear on live tv. It was pretty fantastic and so was this game for the Edmonton Oilers, who came out and scored 2 in under a minute to open the game. A dominant performance has me wondering, are the Oilers back? I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

      We all expect a ton of goals for but it's the goals against that have been the problem. I'd have to say with Skinner's stats of late, that no longer seems to be the issue. The defense, aside from a couple blunders has improved and when they suck, the biggest difference now has been Skinner bailing them out.
      Back? Hard to say no but I'm going to wait until they at least break .500. The Wild are on a run and are next up, another hefty test.
      Interestingly, the Yotes have won their last 5 as well.

      A player’s coach as well as a fan favorite. On a tour of the gym and locker facilities before the season started, it gave me chills seeing the framed poster on the wall in the hallway to the locker room of Rod hoisting the cup over his head, the biggest ear-to-ear smile on his face. I was in attendance at that game seven. I’ll never forget it. The current players passing by that, can’t help but be inspired. They can relate to him. And I love how he tells it like it is. No mincing words like the team PR employees do. If the team plays with the same kind of passion they did back in ‘05-‘06, they might just know the joy of hoisting the cup too.

      53, he's older than a lot of coaches. And he's been retired for 13 years, or more than half of the length of his career.
      I'd say it was the length of his career, not how long he's been retired for that matters.
      And you know, the fact he didn't just start coaching them.
      Like, for a stat (because you assume he's young as a coach) the NHL's own website lists the average coaching age as 54, and that's skewed by a few guys in their early 60s.

    • @ryanu.4953
      @ryanu.4953 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nolankuffner3573 I couldn’t find the age statistic, I worry that is not limited to just head coaches, where typically assistant coaches are younger and would bring the average age down. He is older than I thought, and I see your point on how long his career as been, but also he’s the 3rd LEAST REMOVED HEAD COACH IN THE LEAGUE. There’s only 2 other head coaches who have played in the NHL more recently than he has, so my point still stands.

    Yeah I think the Oilers have found their offensive mojo and are looking more like the team people were picking to win it all this year. Anyone who wrote them off should always remember the Blues from several years ago who near the bottom of the standings and then bounced back to win the Cup eventually. The great thing about sports is just because you're dominating doesn't mean you'll win it all (ask the Bruins last year) and just because you're losing doesn't mean you can't turn it around and win it all (ask the Blues).

    The Hurricanes looked like an AHL team in this game. I’m a Canes fan, but if the top six continue to play well in one game and then take the next two games off, and if the goaltending continues to suck, the Canes won’t even make the playoffs, let alone be a serious cup contender. Aho, Svechnikov, Terravainen, and Necas need to be on their A-game every single game-not just every third game.
    Gotta give the Oilers props though. They played like their lives depended on it. I believe the start to their season was a fluke, and that they have and will continue to turn things around. They will not only make the playoffs, but be a cup contender. Like the Canes, it’s the inconsistent goaltending they need to fix. What would be really cool would be a rematch of the excellent 2005-2006 final round. I was at all four games in Raleigh. What a great time it was.

      @@jamescaliendo1030 Boston Bruins proved one thing. Winning the cup is not that easy. Not even with great management and a team that roasted the league in the regular season…. The Bruins didn’t even get a sniff of the cup. It’s not as easy as getting first overall picks, because they don’t always pan out…and even if they do, they’re just one player.
      The Oilers actually lost to the eventual cup winner 2 years in a row. Last year, I think they probably gave the Knights their toughest series in the playoffs. If you read the comments on hfboards, you would have been positive the EAST was going to win the cup EASILY the last 2 years. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE NO CONTEST. It’s not that easy to win the cup.
