Hard to believe that Steve died a year ago. He left a great legacy in his videos and sound advice in Planting Green side up.

You have done so well in one year from picking up Steve's tunnel and putting it on your plot. And all the improvements on your plot. Such a good job Steve would be giving you a big pat on your back.

    Re the bath tub
    - take an angle grinder to it, take those sharpe cornets off then sand the edges smooth 😁

I spent yesterday also elbows deep breaking up chunks in homebase compost.
Its a great base for the price, but needs a little extra attention.
But for 3 quid a bag atm, I cant complain too much

For the last few years I have put a layer of chunky composted bark at the bottom of my potato containers. Then a thin layer of bagged manure. Then budget compost for the rest. Even without the manure I've found the addition of composted bark makes the compost really nice for next year's growing as it continues to break down over the growing season and winter. Composted bark is also generally cheaper than compost so it makes an excellent filler plus it soaks up water well meaning the bottom of the containers don't dry out as fast. Worms seem to love the compost the bark creates too which helps break down the compost above it. I kind of see it as composting and growing at the same time.

Hi Jb, hope you are both well. Just a thought for your bath (I appreciate this would be alot of work) find a permanent home, e.g between the greenhouses and make a frame around it so you don't hurt yourselves on those sharpe edges. Then pop the shed door on as a hinged lid when you take the shed down. You can store bags of compost in there to stop them getting wet, mix up compost mixes and recharge old compost in there. Also get a plug and can use it as a water trough for bottom watering. You could even frame around the base and clad around the bath to make additional storage for tools, pots, fleece etc. All looking great!

For supports in a polytunnel, I have run lateral wires in my mums and support using hop twine which works really well

You could turn the tray in the little cold frame around so the taller stuff is at the back where it's higher 🌿

Comfrey will survive. You need just a little bit of root to grow it on. Next time you move a big plant, cut it short. Its hard to get the top enough water when there roots disturbed . Its easier for plants to make new roots without losing energy to so much leaf and stalk.

With your bath tub put electricians tape on its edges as a buffer so you do not get cut. Not very green but you are upcycling the bath 🤩

Always good to remind us of Steve's legacy, I often still rewatch his videos for tips. I search the month and there is a wealth of advice.
I would say that Im done with Silvagrow though. I tried it this year for the first time and just finished the three bags I bought after your video on their manufacturing plant . But I would not buy it again. Terrible growth and Ive ended up enriching it with blood and bones everytime Ive potted on with it. Today was the last straw when I had great big stringy bits in the last bag. Its really poor for a supposed premium compost.
