  • It's Thai Language in this clip
but for English Language I'll Explain here
Everyone who use Focusrite Scarlett 2I2 usually found that when you're recording electric guitar from Guitars-Cable-2I2 the signal is too hot and Peak clip easily
The gain knob show the red signal so easy and the Meter in your DAW will close to 0 Db or over and it so hard to control your signal.(For best it could be about -18 db for digital recording)
I won't talk about Signal Theory too much Cuz I'm not sure about too ,but I'll say that scarlett 2I2 input wasn't design for Unbalance Signal from Electric Guitars .And the signal is too hot .You'll see that The Scarlett 2I4 has PAD button and when activate the button it will reduce hot signal and the problem is not happen in 2I4
Back to The Scarlett 2I2 If you wanna solve the clipping problem. You'll have to buy 2 Things
-Di Box (I bought it about 20$ mint condition)
    -XLR Cable
    And That's all
In this VDO I'll Show you
-The signal Before and After using Di Box
-If you're not using Di Box and choose to switch Instrument switch to Line . Yes The Signal will reduce but the tone is change losing Mid/High-High Frequency and the sound will not clear even turn the gain knob up wont help (You can't hear the sound so well in this VDO Cuz I recorded by my smartphone)
So. Buy The DI Box will help you solve this problem and it wont busting your bank.
Hope it will help Good Luck.
*Di Box will turn the Unbalance signal to Balance signal

Super video, thanks a lot! I am also using a DI before my interface, not because of clipping, but because of faulty grounding and noise. Even though the interface should be able to get unbalanced, high impedance signal, I have the feeling that a lot of troubles arise from directly plugging a passive instrument into it. Have you noticed any noise-related differences with or without the DI?

Thanks for this video, bro! And thanks a lot for taking the time to write the instructions in English!
I just had one question: After using the DI box, shouldn't you switch from "instrument" to "line" on the 2i2? Because the DI box converts the signal to line level, right? So wouldn't it be better to switch to line then? If you could reply, I would be very grateful!

      Hello bro,
For me personally when I switch to "line" mode I feel the input gain is not right. It's too low for using plugin amp simulation. For example ,when I use rectifier amp plugin ,I have to turn gain on amp sim pass noon to get hi gain sound. That's not right for me and actually "line"mode design for using with any instrument that come with Level control like Multi effect ,Keyboard something like that. I'm not sure about "Fact" but guess "Line" mode is not work like PAD switch on scarlett 2I4 and this switch is important for using with Hi-Z instrument like guitar direct to audio interface.
So,I use instrument mode with DI box the sound it feel "right" for me and if I use DI box with Line mode , input gain is too low.
      Hope that help :)

@@MrPetePc Yes, that's a big help! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to post such a detailed reply. And I'm sorry about the late acknowledgement.. I thought I replied to this already.
Take care, rock on, and greetings from Pakistan! :)

How are you monitoring the sound (sound we’re heating)? Through a “thru” from the di box to an amp or is that the guitar simulation coming out of your monitors?

DI box outputs are actually mic level, so neither line nor instrument should be selected, just plug it into the interface xlr input to run it through the mic preamp. I'm not talking about the 'thru' output which should stay at instrument level.

    Great video!
I have Scarlett Solo 2nd Gen. Can I connect DI box to Mic Input? Because on Scarlett solo, Phantom power is available only on Mic Input. And it has no switch to turn Line-Inst. SO will it work on mic input?

    • @MrPetePc

Yes you can use with Mic input.

@@MrPetePc I'm trying to run Guitar -> Focusrite Scarlet Solo 2nd gen High-Z instrument input. And then to play my guitar with amp sims like Bias AMP, Amplitube 4, Guitar rig 5, etc..
Now when I try to play guitar, it sounds very very muffled, lifeless, dull and it just doesn't reacts the right way. I just don't understand what to do.
What do you think could be the problem?
I see many people on internet using scarlet interface and getting awesome tone in amp sims... but it just won't work for me.
The sound is always muddy, and muffled...
Please share your knowledge in detail if possible. I am really upset regarding this thing...
      Thanks a lot!
