    • @johnwells2648
      @johnwells2648 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rhiannon N/A. that would look really visually stunning,
      however unless you use a different type of bulb than I've tried (don't think) in the past,
      ☡ DON'T DO IT❗☡ It will blind your fish!!!
      eventually....
      at least that was my experience ,sad to say.😦
      I think it's got too much UV Spectrum for them or something,
      But if you had success please let me know....😃
      You might get a similar affect if you used an actinic 03 but I don't know how freshwater fish cope with that spectrum and how it would affect the plants might look into that,
      Any case ~I just want pass that knowledge on... for those that are contemplating using it. 🤔😕

    hey mike, the tank looks pretty cool, but if you don't mind a little critique, i'd like to suggest a small modification. rather than use driftwood to stabilize the suspended features, try using two suspension lines ( one left and one right, with both biased a bit outward ) rather than just a center one. this way the features won't turn. whilst the wood connections work, they do diminish the free floating "avatar effect ".

    This project came out looking really good. Just one suggestion: instead of depending on the plants, hide the eye-screws by putting them in a "crater", like those dug out with the chisel.

    looks gorgeous. you have a real knack for this. But I am more interested in your comment about using potting soil in your tanks. This is intriguing to me. I never knew you could do such a thing. Can you give me more deets about how and what type? I'm super intrigued, as I don't really have access to fancy substrates and all that where I live. For me, it's pretty much gravel or nothing, so If I can use soil, I'd love to try. Cheers!

    Stratum is underrated imo. I did the same as you, went from dirt to try this stuff out. I am impressed with it, it grows plants well. However I do add osmocote root tabs. The only problem is with how light it is. I used almost 3 inches of it because I just couldn't get anything to stay down and hold until good rooting formed.

    I love this floating rock look. I have koi fish in an outside pond. Didn’t dig it deep enough to keep them in through winter. Neighbor who happened to breed fish had a 75 gallon tank with cabinet he no longer needed and Said I could have it if I haul it out of his basement. Now I have their winter home. Lol. Going to dig the pond deeper next spring then use the 75 gallon for saltwater tank or something.
