Blender Repair - JB Weld on broken Blendtec jar

- Using JB Weld for a blender repair. FYI this is definitely NOT food safe. My Blendtec blender jar developed a crack so I tried fixing it with Gorilla super glue. The Gorilla glue didn't hold and the jar was still leaking when making smoothies. In this video I sanded off the Gorilla glue and applied J-B Weld PlacticWeld quick-setting epoxy.
Thank you! thank you! Thank you for making this video! I bought some of this stuff and fixed the 2 huge cracks in my cuisinart food processor bowl. I tested it out this morning and water is holding in the bowl. Love it! The only thing I would mention is that this stuff stinks!!! You may have mentioned it in the video but I would recommend doing this out in the garage. I applied it in my laundry room and it took hours to get rid of the smell. Also, after reading other people’s comments about their food processor bowl, I should mention that I applied the jb weld product on the outside of the bowl to minimize the chance of it coming near food.
Got my Vitamix (awesome, brand new condition) for $3 at a second hand shop here in Japan. Made a few awesome smoothies on that day, then wanted to invite my family for a smoothie party. Picked it up from an upper shelf and dropped the pitcher part...cracked it and everything leaked out while trying to make it in front of everyone. Checked the price of a new container....no way. Anyway, I will try your idea. Hope it works...
Excellent bro, very informative. I’m going to fix my cracked jar.
The company says shatter proof so they should replace
@rink this seems to be a good solution. Every jar which came with my food processor has developed cracks and is leaking. Will try this. Just hope that the product is safe to use and the toxic ingredients don't mix with the food
Thank you for your video. I will try it. I just dropped my food processor container and it cracked also...
That looks so good. I am going to fix my cracked Vitamix Jar. Thankyou for the video.
Rink, why not just use a handful of almonds in your smoothy instead of store bought almond milk? You will save a ton of money and save the packaging of store bought milks. Thats is what we do. BTW: It is super easy to make nut and seed milks in a high speed blender. The resulting milk can be filtered or just use as is and let the fibre sink to the bottom. I use a cup of seeds or nuts, a pinch of salt and 4 cups of water ( one litre) for delicious milk.
This is something that I ought to try! Sounds great and thanks for the hot tip.
Homemade almond milk is so delicious. I put in one or 2 dates and I soak my almonds overnight.
Save the packaging? 🤣 Someone's gonna buy it regardless.
Nicely done little buddy !!
Thank you! This is a great idea. My concern though, wouldn’t the toxins from the glue get in the smoothies?
It will, you need a food safe glue.
Home Depot must love you!
If these manufacturers would quick making these jars squares they wouldn’t break like that
Can it fix the spinning screw that attaches the chopper jar with the main machine. It has broken due to overload.
The company should replace free. Poor quality never had Vitamix crack
You could put that on a buffer wheel with some compound and make it shiny again...
When fully cured, J-B Weld is non-toxic. Our products are not rated food-safe, and we do not recommend consuming the product or using it on areas that directly touch food or beverage.
but is it food safe?
100% not. I should put that in the description!
@@RinkVideo XD
@@RinkVideo what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. 🤣
Long term report? how did the fix hold up?
Ive gone through 3 Nija blenders and they all do the same. Plastic blenders should be banned.
Future reference,
just a suggestion
if you think I am full of it, by all means, look this up yourself. This mixture im about to propose is actually used at times for minor repairs on airplanes that being a mixture/combination of •superglue
•baking soda.
It works wonders.
I know this is an older video, but as I stated this is for future reference, or possibly any other individual who may be looking at this video and going through the comments
Is that safe to use on food grade plastic?
I have the exact same crack on almost the exact same are of my Blendtec Wildside jar. I thought about trying this, but my only concern is that since there is still a crack on the inside of the jar, it is filling with tiny bits of food that is virtually impossible to get out and then I wonder how much extra bacteria is getting into every batch blended. Sealing the inside of the jar is iffy if this stuff is not food safe. I wonder if a food safe seal would exist?
Yeah that’s certainly a concern for sure. There is soooooo much force on that crack though. It’s ridiculous how much $ they want for a new jar. Let me know if you figure out a better solution!
@@RinkVideo So I did some research just now and JB Weld also makes a "drinking water safe" version of their epoxy so I'm gonna give that a shot and do both in and out. I too can't justify paying that much for the new jar, lol.
@@brianhwang5223 amazing. Let me know if it works and I’ll do the inside of mine too. Mine wasn’t terribly bad but I just wanted to stop the crack from spreading. Which so far so good.
@@brianhwang5223 thanks that is what I was here for.
@@brianhwang5223 vitamix also has expensive replacments. nearly 200 for a new one which is literally 75% of the cost of a new vitamix blender...
What about plastic welding?
much better
This won't work on the Blendtek you show, but if the blender is an Oster, the blade base screws onto a mason jar perfectly.
Thanks my food processor attachment just cracked I'll try this
Will the JB Weld leech into the drink ?
If so, it will just add more flavor! 🤣🤣🤣
So much so for shatter proof jar. My Aldi Chinesium shatterproof blender has lasted 3yr so far in a large family!
Thanks so much!
Definitely earned a like 👍 😄
Ayeeeee this is awesome bro and I just gave you a follow. My mother broke her blender jug so I’m definitely gonna be doing this method for repairs. Keep shinning!! 💯🫶🏼
Wonder if a heat gun would do the trick
where did you buy that glue from ?
Home Depot in the paint isle.
Can this be used for a crack on the blender button?
1500 w in a 5 sq in is dangerous. But 150usd anplastic jar is making them money
I have a 3 inch wide hole, any suggestions? I experienced the same thing as you: The container is almost as much as purchasing a brand new appliance!
That’s a big hole! There’s a company called Alterna Jar that has a more affordable replacement. You’d think the cost of a Blendtec would come with lifetime warranty 🤷♂️
@@RinkVideo Thanks
By 3 inch hole, do you mean the screw-on base? If so, see if the threads fits a mason jar. On Oster blenders, they fit perfectly.
@@JeffTheHokieI mean the hole in my container is about 3" in width. It blew a hole when I was trying to shred a coconut hull. It was no match for it.
Super
works!
Doubt this jb welb plastic is bpa free
Won’t the chemical leech into your food??
Yes it’s totally possible. They say it’s non-toxic once fully cured but not certified food safe by FDA.
@@RinkVideo Thank you. Nice video.
Get and Alternajar.... half the price!
Googling now… thanks!
Who else came here because the welder addon is not working correctly on Blender 3D?
I came because of "how to glue an object in blender". If you haven't heard of the software, the question becomes a bit weird to you.
Do not push down so hard
