This was composed by Bob Mintzer, the title escapes me

The title is "Saturday Night". I first heard this chart at the "Bold Knight" in Sunnyvale California in 1981.
The audience gave the bassist Wayne a standing ovation during his duo with Buddy. The follow-up was Bob Mintzner's "Good News", which lead to another brief Bass solo. Of course, Buddy was on fire that night!
The epitome of high energy "modern" Big Band music (this is not Lawrence Welk) that in comparison; most Rock music appears predictable, unsophisticated and frankly boring!

OK, at the 12:00 mark you see Buddy showing exactly why no other drummer has come close to his abilities. People love to say so-and-so is better than Buddy Rich. Certainly some drummers have different styles that we all love - for example, I'm a big fan of Harvey Mason, David Garibaldi and Joe Morello - but when it comes to soloing and driving a big band BR is in a world by himself. Even though the quality of this video is very poor, the sheer overwhelming force of his playing is clear as day. And he was in his sixties. Other videos are youtube equally impressive. I'd recommend the "Greensleeves" performance; wonderful composition for the whole band, great BR solo captured on film.

Trek Ryder Thanks Trek...just about all the new players are grand children of Buddy Rich..There's a lot of double beater bass pedal technique and single handed single strokes and some interesting independance of the limbs happening. The likes of Thomas Lange, Dylan Elise, Virgil Donati, Antonio Sanchez, and so on...I'm a big Joe Morello, Louie Bellson, etc... fan as is my older brother Doug. The Castilian Drum solo in 5/4 DBQ Live at Carnegie Hall still has some heads shaking. Buddy certainly knew how to be on top and drive the band. I read somewhere as Buddy quoting a rock band (no offense or judgement intended) "How can you spend all day in a recording studio playing (3) three chords." -- unquote. I don't believe there wasn't anything Mr. Humble could not of accomplished on the drums... I'll certainly check out "Greensleeves" Enjoy!

He's playing with BOTH grips - something most drummers don't attempt to do. Not live, anyway - maybe in their practice rooms. Lol.
