    I realize these cartoons were technically not the best, but it's very nostalgic for me to see these intros because I enjoyed these cartoons as a kid, and it made me happy to see these intros when the cartoons came on.

    The best part of the these cartoons were the intro and outro. That "Guitar" sound Cracked me up as a kid!

    Heh, I'm wondering if anyone who first saw "Now Hear This" on TV saw the early "Abstract WB" opening sequence start up and said or thought "Oh no, not another Speedy vs. Daffy cartoon!" Only to be in for a BIG surprise...

      I didn't really expect a Daffy vs Speedy cartoon. I thought this was Merrie Melodies and thought Merrie Melodies was only Daffy vs. Speedy Cartoons

      The Seven Arts cartoons from 1967 to 1969 stop using Treg Brown's falling whistle sound effect, instead it used the Hanna-Barbera falling whistle sound effect.

      @@DennisTamayo Well, one of them did use Treg Brown's falling whistle briefly, "Hocus Pocus Powwow." But otherwise it was the H-B "shell screaming whine down," just like on the new "Looney Tunes Cartoons."

      @@ZakWolf you seem knowledgable about cartoons, i've been looking for a cartoon for a while now ( probably woody woodpecker? ) that involves a skyscraper/hotel, a character being depressed ( prob suici*dal ) and it was old : clues i have is i only watched woody/penguin, looney tunes and donald duck, fred quimby cartoons, would appreciate your help honestly :P

    I don’t understand why the Abstract WB and Warner 7 cartoon intros sometimes say “Looney Tunes” and other times “Merrie Melodies.” I don’t see any difference in this case.

      Maybe the Wile E. And Merlin Mouse cartoons were distinguishable, but then there's the Cartoon Special which only got put to Norman Normal

      It's a holdover from the early days when Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies were noticeably different. Early on Merrie Melodies was basically a series of animated music videos featuring songs from Warner Bros. Records, and Looney Tunes was their regular cartoon series featuring recurring characters.

    I love those double O's stretching out near the end. On some cartoons the original music is heard, and at the end Porky Pig says That's All Folks when the O's stretch.

    You missed one I think - one of the "early" variant, but with 5 slow honks as the "OO" in "Cartoon" hop out" instead of 3 fast honks.

      @@christopherwright4003 I've seen these shorts. The W7 blue version shown in the video uses a rare varient only used in 2 cartoons "See Ya Later Gladiator" and "3 wing ring ding"

    To me these intros are cool and creative on their own (and also a little creepy in some way i cant describe well) but it's just not Looney Tunes.

      Yeah the music is a little intimidating, but I think it's cool and very 60s. I actually really liked the cartoons that came with these intros but I realize I'm in a minority. I think it's because my mom grew up in the 60s and I was raised watching them.

      The last one with a "Cartoon Special" intro & different music is a one-shot cartoon from 1968 titled "Norman Normal", and involved Peter Paul & Mary's Peter Yarrow.

    Does anyone know the difference between Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes? I mean,they only have different names as far as I know!

      They were different initially. Merrie Melodies was intended to showcase songs from the Warner Bros record label, while Looney Tunes was the regular cartoon series.

Also beginning in 1934-35, the Merrie Melodies were in color while the Looney Tunes stayed in black and white until 1943, after which there was virtually no difference in both series besides the names and the theme music, up until the "Abstract" logo sequences here were created. Friz Freleng once said in an interview, "I never knew if a film I was making would be Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies, and what the hell difference would it make, anyway?"

    The abstract logo looks weird to me. It doesn’t look like the signature Warner Bros insignia (Couldn’t they even add the signature shield?). Also, the letters are unrecognizable at plain sight. The B I kinda get but the W look more like a vampire’s fangs.

      Those are called Cue Marks. All physical film prints have them to tell the projectionist that the film reel is ending.

      Because it came from a one-off abstract short called "now hear this" (and it was originally meant to be the only time it would be used, hence the big ben chimes at the end)
