The best mulching video I've seen, hands down. The operator does not play and realizes that mulching and finesse are NOT synonyms.
I love to see mulching videos without timelapses.
Been binge watching all these videos from numerous companies as popped up on my feed.
What I noticed in this video is a machine being used more aggressively, and with more speed, some of the other channels seem to baby their machines more, understandable as these things aren’t cheap, recently watched an idigit, vid doing similar work, very slow in comparison, I think this technique is more effective and cost efficient for the client. Very entertaining thx.

Best bit of kit I've ever seen for brambles and saplings. But I bet it costs a bob or two!
Great gadget. Have one on back of tractor. Always be sure to use in winter, when roots are fallow, and always BEFORE budding, flowering, seeding.
My advice, from much experience, is to mulch ONLY down to 6" high. Don't disturb the soil and old seed stock. Mulching in one pass is better than lots of tyre/track ploughing. When spring regrowth shoots out of the short 6" stems, spray 9:1 Glyphosate 360. Leaves will yellow 1 -2 weeks. Repeat till no regrowth recurrs, proving all the roots are dead. Then over-sow pasture grasses WITHOUT TILLING. In 12 months, no weeds will ever come back again. Golden rule -- do not disturb soil to wake up old seed

Me too! There is frequently t stakes and bundles of fence. Concrete and rocks are usually worse than a little fencing. 20:13 is a vole. Willamette valley Oregon voles are quite huge

Yes. Wildlife needs areas with dense thickets but it’s nice to have those set back and to keep neglected areas free of unintended refugee to more easily maintain a nice place. I love watching these videos.

Great work. I wish blackberries on our properties were so easy to access. We get them in gullies and along creeks where its almost impossible to get at with a machine.
Get a couple goats and stake them just outside the start of the patches and keep moving them in farther every couple days. In from Florida and moved to Washington state for a couple years and seen people do that and that impressed me more than that bobcat lol

I did a similar thing (though only on 5ft high weeds) with a two wheel walk behind tractor equipped with a flail mower.. Very rewarding! :)
Flails and hogs work well until the material gets over 1" and/or is really stringy springy. Then you're left with a terrible dangerous mess of stabby javelins all over.

What a magnificent little machine. The only downside to this amazing clean-up is that I'm sure there soon were innumerable blackberry sprouts from the cut-off branch stubs and intact roots that were alive and well underground.
I revisited the site about a year later and it's still amazingly clean. The blackberries take some time to recover when they're that beaten back. I'm guessing 3 years if it's never mowed and it will be brush hog material again
Just like mowing a huge field of grass. Cut it to a certain length and have it maintain while making $$$ in the work.
Why cut off the $$$ from the field of greens?
This is only phase on, a followup with a broadleaf herbicide on the sprouts would finish the job.

OMG I just realised there's no wood line behind all of that. That whole 15 to 20 foot high mass of blackberry briars is the thicket. Amazing how dense those things get.

I'm just curious as to why you you didn't turn around after the bulk was gone and work down hill to use the weight of the machine to help you mulch, instead of dragging it uphill, good job, all the best, Al
I like the way he mulches as after he finished he seems t mix the soil with the mulch
It can go about 2 inches below grade if really angled hard. Gliding along on the skid shoes the knives work about 1" off the ground. If mulched well enough a lawn mower can take over afterwards. Or revisit with a brush hog for a year or two and whatever is left will be either soft/decomposed enough or squished down enough for the lawn mower from then on.

That thing looks just like my Terex PT70. Same horsepower and hydraulic flow too. But both models are really ASVs, just. painted black and white for a while until the brand came back as ASV again..
You are outstandingly thorough compared to others doing similar jobs. I really respect the extra effort you put in. The camera work could be slightly closer however.

I was an independent landscaper in Portland for a couple of years.
Portland always needs something whine to about. My first day there I spoke with someone about this unearthly being called a berry thicket.
Oh no. How will I ever cut through that. I cleared out several. By hand. People were shocked and amazed. And that's why I left Portland.
Once clean, how and/or what for will the terrain be used?
