Come shop with me! Also - after I uploaded this video, I realized that I definitely said the name of one of the Betty Crocker books incorrectly. It's supposed to be Betty Crocker's Basic Bakings. If you have any additional info on any of these books or you have them your collection, I'd love to hear about it!

I have that ATK cookbook, I believe it's the one they put out before Christopher Kimball left. It's incredible!

The Boxcar children cookbook was from the boxcar children book series. It was a little similar to the little house on the prairie, but it was a little later in time.

Such great cookbooks! It sometimes seems painstaking to find good vintage cookbooks, but I suppose it makes those finds that much more special 😊

I love old cookbooks and kitchenware. My inlaws downsized and we bought their old house and my collection has grown tremendously. They left tons of stuff behind because they didn't have room for it and didn't want to go through it. My husband wanted to put it all in the driveway and have a big yard sale. I said no way! The oldest cookbook I've found belonged to his great-grandmother from 1890 and it is falling apart but it is called "Cookery & Reliable Recipes". Inside the front cover it says "Glad tidings for every housewife" by Mrs. E.C. Blakeslee. It is truly a treasure. I used to go to thrift stores searching like you before I moved here. Once I finally finish going through it all I will probably start my thrift shopping again. That's if I have any room left. lol

Great video and you didn't even make me seasick! Most shopping/home tour etc. videos do. 😕 Potpourri Press, you could have knocked me over with a feather as I've been collecting Potpourri Press mugs for years now! They make wonderful tea (or coffee) mugs as they have a tiny, tiny lip that prevents the liquid from leaking over the rim as you drink. Love you and love your videos!

I have a copy of the Betty Crocker Basic Bakings. When I took Home Economics in High School in the 70s, there were one topic booklets on baking we received in class. This book is a computation of those. The book lists some specific analysis (what's good/what went wrong) of the bakes which my teacher used to grade our work such as "didn't rise," "too crumbly," etc.

It was a VERY good shopping day. I usually go to SVDP on weekdays, and fully expected it to be packed on a Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised to find it pretty empty and incredibly well stocked with books for me to snap up!

I had *so* much to comment on in this video (I loved it) but what I wanted to mention was “the nineteen hundreds”! I am tech support for a large cable company and when customers ask me what are on certain channels like Turner Classic Movies or FETV I tell them “oh it’s programming from the mid-to-later nineteen hundreds”
I could probably say “shows from the 40s-80s”; I dunno why I don’t, but it tickles some people to hear the years they were born/grew up in as “the nineteen hundreds” as if we were talking about antiquity 😂

I tend to look for really old cookbooks from the 50’s on back but I do like to find newer ones, as well as vintage 60’s, 70’s. I like to find the ones with the metal binders too!
