    I am in Illustrator CC 2020-2021 and that join icon is not available and I cant figure out how to do the whole join by going over the line. I am not seeing the same options now in this last AI update.

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Pocho, the Join Tool is under the Shaper Tool in the sub menu. It will be in the same location as the Pencil Tool. It has not been removed from the new update for 2021.

    You didn’t explain how to add the shadows. But great tutorial anyhow!

      This was in the description:
      This is our first workflow video and will not be a direct step by step tutorial since your drawing will be a little different than mine as well as the finished product. I have covered all of the major steps and shown the process so you will be able to get through from start to finish. This will let you just focus on getting your lines down, adding variation and the clean up (which does get a little intense for brand new users which I don't recommend) We go full on UGLY in this one. We will finish slightly before the image shown in the thumbnail, which if you watched the last tutorial, you will be able to add on inner glows to the flat colors without any issues.

    I don't really understand that stuff with expanding and uniting. Is there another video or explanation from you guys ?

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Expanding finishes the stroke into a shape. Then uniting merges all the little shapes into 1. We do this before coloring

    There were gaps in your video. I didnt see if you use width tool or stroke tool to make your strokes contrast in width.

    I am having all sorts of difficulty with the pencil tool. When I make a line and change the stroke size, it will keep reverting back to the original stroke after I make a line.

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check your preferences. Is your scale strokes on/off. Are all of the strokes changing or just the last one you draw. The new strokes should have the new size of the stroke if you adjust them.

    • @rdhcreations
      @rdhcreations 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JasonSecrest It seems to be working now. Before it I would draw a line and adjust the stoke, but the next line would go back to original size. Now it seems to work with scale stokes on or off. I am not sure what I did.

    how to select multiple lines by your choice??

    • @JasonSecrest
      @JasonSecrest  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Magic wand tool. Double click to knock the tolerance to 1-5. You can also modify what it selects in the same panel.
      Hold shift w Selection Tool for point and click of multiple lines

      The cleanup was the same process all the way through using the shape builder holding down alt/option. I skipped over the confusing part with all of the overlapping so you can pause it to look at the cone and napkin overlapping areas. The scissor tool might have been cropped out a little which you will see on the cone strokes. You could use path eraser or scissor tool to modify the cone strokes.
