Amazing episode
Boy said "i look best here"and fushi lifted him back to the chair after he passed away 😭
The "remember me forever" hit😓
What's amazing about this episode is that's its both a great start to an amazing story but also a great single episode story on its own.
Facts. I think I've capped out on emotional damage and have to stop at ep 1, but it was devastatingly beautiful. Very devastating T.T
I dont know why but it made me go into a really deep existential questioning and melancholy, of this kid thinking it was spending the last moment of his life, and probably the last of his tribe, with his companion but it really was another thing that didnt even know his name.
How many people have died like that? Alone with no one at their side? Just a dot in the scheme of things that not even a single person will remember your name for some time, you will practically be in oblivion the second you die. Not even his death made me sad, it was this questioning that my mind was doing to itself.

@@d.ml.g9902 I felt this exactly, and the 1 in a trillion chance that this boy is what Fushi needed to evolve. He died thinking no one would ever remember him but now his face is known by millions.
Ultimately his name is unimportant, the point is that he gave inspiration to a being that didn't need to take his form. He breathed life into a literal rock*...he gave it reason, purpose, and emotion. Point to the people who do the same in your lives, not their names.
The fact this anime hardly got any love at the 2021 awards will never sit right with me
I heard it started out fantastic but lost it’s focus towards the end. I mean I watched it up till the tree creature but HBO cut it off before ... I couldn’t really afford another subscription.
It was just overshadowed by so many other anime especially Attack on titan, Jujutsu Kaisen & Odd taxi

@@rubycore1013 it didn’t exactly lose it’s focus but the island arc was not really as emotionally well built as the rest, we didn’t get a lot of reasons to like tonari or her crew or feel sad for them
The boy has literally lost everything, even joaan. Maybe it was best for him not knowing joaan was dead too. That way he was not all alone when he passed. All though one of the saddest yet best anime for me

There is something special about this first episode. The crippling lonliness, wanting to risk everything to see your loved ones one more time. The contrast between the weak human against the harsh nature, still... preservering, trying to over come despite knowing its hopeless.
No I'm crying! The white haired boy died in the same way his actual wolf friend died, same leg was cut and in the cold. At least he got to see his family and his actual wolf in the end 😭
First episode was filled with more emotion than other animes will achieve in entire runs
This is the single best pilot episode of any show I've ever seen. It's difficult for any series to live up to that. To your eternity is just above average for the rest of the season. The pilot is essential viewing for all anime fans.
Lol had the same reaction after i saw the second episode, i dont know why but the first Episode catches you on an emotional level. And usually i dont get sentimental about anime. The rest of the anime is , like you said, unfortunately not very good , does not live up to the first Episode at all.

There is something so pure about these people's struggle making it all the more tragic. Sad to think that humans experienced this during the last ice age.

@@originated712 they both died due to a leg injury, and also, they both technically died without the other present, since Joaan the wolf died alone far away from the nameless boy, and the nameless boy died without Joaan there, because it was actually Fushi who was just taking Joaan's form.

The idea of this entity taking form of the child after it listened to his last wishes is something that just hit me way to hard... Whoever made this series definitely got me in the feels🤣
The first episode really killed me. I got so emotionally invested I cried for several days.... It was just so well done. The first episode could've been a short movie. It was perfect as a stand alone as well.

I will forever hold To Your Eternity as one of the most emotionally impactful animes that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in my lifetime.
comparing this boy to the fushi we know of after watching the rest of the anime is such a whiplash… this boy was definitely much livelier
Exactly. When you look at the cover of Vol. 1 you can see boy smiling the way that Fushi never did and never will. So full of life.
Then again, they’re two completely different personalities even if they share appearance.
This whole anime is just, “Emotional Damage” to the max
There is a theory that the unknown boy can very well be "Fushi".
Of course its not the boy's name. But in foreshadow, this is the future that Fushi dreads...
The unknown boy lives in a world where everyone he loves died.
Fushi is immortal and as the Man in Black said "All humans die".
In the end he will come to understand the true pain of the first boy.
This aged like milk, but I can't say I'm too unhappy about it. Spoilers:
Fushi has the ability to revive the dead as long as their "souls" (fye) are still around to inhabit the body

Tonari I think yelled at Fushi telling him something along the lines of “You think we’re just you’re friends you can keep reviving,” been a year since I last read though so I might be wrong.
The 1st episode/chapter of this series is such a brilliant opener. Show casing the story writing of this series, captivating the reader and emotionally severing them right there at the end
Saddest episode/death of the entire series. I think the fact that Fushi, who hasn't developed humanity yet, combined with the boy failing in his quest and dying alone as the only "sentient" one makes it really tragic. It made me think how lonely, yet how unalone he was when he died.
Yeah this is the only episode of the entire series that made me sad/cry, I’m not so sure on the crying part. I can’t remember if I did cry or not.

This anime really and genuinely taught me about not taking life for granted and valuing and cherishing your friends and loved ones while you can it’s just beautiful 😭

you hasve no idea what this episode has done to me, i cried so much, i felt like i lost someone when the boy died, just seeing his journey how optimistic he was but was so raw with his emotions when he broke down crying, when he passed away on the chair, that scene and dialogue just made me cry for a good 20 minutes, im still emotional just thinking about it. even though its an anime, i wish i couldve saved him or be with him
he didn't just die on the chair, the orb even put him back after he fell off 😭

it doesn't have enough popularity, the hype never kicked off with this series probably because it was overshadowed by Jujutsu kaisen, Odd taxi and Attack on titan unfortunately

Best anime ever. The series doesn't feature a lecherous pig as the main character, doesn't demean women, doesn't depend on violence and explosions to entertain the audience. It is very philosophical and is a heartwarming and wholesome story.

I just realized that when the boy died he went to paradise going on to achieve what he wanted (going to the faraway land withh his people) but with march, gugu, and Pioran, they all remembered Fushi. They gave up life for Fushi, then gave up paradise for Fushi
