This off-ride video shows Pilgrims Plunge, the short-lived water ride, designed by Intamin, which was located at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. When it opened, the ride was the world's tallest water ride. Special thanks goes to Paula Werne of Holiday World for the tour of the ride.

@sean1973x2009 - You sure? The other 1080p or 720p videos I have uploaded play very smooth. Just a couple including this one have developed frame rate issues.

Even though it's gone, I well never forget this ride. I remember too well driving to the park and seeing this ride above everything else. R.I.P
memelord cucumber the only reason why they took it out was due to the fact that it always broke, and every time it did the park had to pay for the engineer to fly all the way to the park to fix it and the engineer lived in Germany. I only know because we asked the park manager. ;)

If you look in Google Earth, the flume and the splashdown pool are just sitting there, abandoned.
@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102 Not anymore. They've been taken down a few years ago. Theres now a show there instead. Still, it's sad because it was abandoned and decaying for a while.

@Snowbomb6 - It is a calm ride. Some riders forget the tower portion is soon until they get there. It's not a bad ride unless you are afraid of heights.
Both parks are amazing. Holiday World is a lot closer so I usually go there more. I need to get to Dollywood again soon. I didn't make it there this year. Perhaps 2010.

I was looking forward to taking my 5y/o son on this, this summer. Sad to see it go. For me the ride to the top was the best part. The way the boat would tilt to allow the other lift to go down. R.I.P. Pilgrim's Plunge,I only wish I had gotten the shirt now.

I haven't been to Holiday World since maybe 2012 or 2013, I remember loving this ride. I'm sad its gone.
It was for the better as the park was tired of all the issues with the ride.

It's a great ride! Line's usually ridiculously long, but I think it's worth it.
I noticed a lot of riders just keep looking up at that lift once they left the station. Perhaps Holiday World will add something to that back area but to be honest I didn't notice the plain nature of that area when riding.
I just kept looking up at that vertical lift. =:^)

This looks so cool. The boats actually float freely along the course. The lift is elegant and almost a ride in itself. The drop is very imposing and gets you wet before the splashdown, which is extremely rare for water rides.
The splashdown itself is disappointing. The guide rails should have been lower in the water so the boat plows through rather than skimming the surface, and/or a pair of scoops behind and below the boat would have kicked up a badass rooster tail behind the boat.
It definitely looks expensive to maintain. Shame it's gone, seems to happen to all water rides except the boring ones.

There is a similar ride in Italy that has more coaster-like elements. My favorite part of this ride was easily the lift. Great views and it tilted the boats on the way up. Thanks for watching!

The elevator was scarier than the actual ride. will never forget that kind of fear
The lift was the only thing that kept me to scared to get one, and I'll ride mostly anything! plus from what I remember the restraints were always put on too tight and painful..

That's all thanks to the park. Paula took myself and my friend Justin around to get shots. Intamin showed interest in using this video for IAAPA the year I recorded it but I never heard if they ended up showing it or not.

Haven't been to holiday world in years but I sure remember being terrified at just looking at this thing. Suppressed nightmares... good times
It was intimidating for sure, but the ride itself was fairly easy. All that remains of the ride today is the loading station.
It's such a shame Holiday World didn't hang on to this ride long enough to iron out the bugs. Speed at Energylandia and Divertical at Mirabilandia run flawlessly. It was amazing to see such great footage of this ride though, good job :)
Thank you. I think the park may had some safety concerns in regards to what happened to Shoot the Rapids at Cedar Point. They probably didn't want to take any chances.

Honestly, this was the most fun water ride I ever rode. Since when did they remove this?
Anyway, here is my story:
I had just got back from Egypt and moved to Bloomington. We'd heard of an amusement park in the region. We arrived in Santa Claus, and immediately, we saw a HUGE roller coaster in the distance (I believe it was The Legend). We saw a huge crowd trying to get in. I saw a large sign to the sign about the Raven (It had something to do with being #1, but it was obviously the Voyager once I rode the Voyager.) When I entered the Thanksgiving section with my brother, the first thing I saw was the Voyager. I don't know why, but I was super scared of it. I begged him to go to a different ride. I rushed for the Pilgrims Plunge, because it look more mediocre and less menacing. I was dead wrong. I didn't know it was the tallest water ride in the world. I was super chill on the elevator, but I remember a kid just balling to get down. When that thing started darting down the slide, it was one of my most epic experiences. I remember going on it 30 times in a row in just a single day. I loved it! It's a shame that it's gone, and I wish I could go another 30 times in a row.
Thank you for your story! That's pretty cool. They removed the ride a few years ago. The station still stands but there isn't a lot left to show for the ride that once stood there.
