Amira is accompanied by her brother Fincent on Violin, her mother Frieda on recorder and her father Gerrit on pipe organ.
Amira was invited as special guest star by the Nijmegen Men's Choir to perform at their annual Christmas Concert in Amira's hometown Nijmegen. The concert was held in the Petrus Canisius Church on December 19, 2015.

This arrangement of the Ave Maria was written by my brother William, a short time before his untimely death in 2000. He left us all this beautiful legacy which is now sung throughout the world. He would have been particularly pleased to hear it sung by a young person, as is the case with the enchanting Amira.
What a beautiful gift your brother left to both singer and listener alike. I love the passion it has inspired in Amira to sing it here. Enchanting is the perfect word for it. I can only imagine how she might sound repeating this performance of your brother's beautiful arrangement in this same church in 5 years time were she to do so. I would certainly like to be in the audience to hear it. It's as if he wrote it for her!

I'm afraid it is not on the published list for her concert in Huizen, but the Ave Maria Mascagna which you will find on her cd Merry Christmas is. Maybe she will have another surprise for us there, as this Gomez she did not announce in advance of last year's concert
Dear Amira, I have watched so many of your performances and hearing your beautiful voice brings me great joy. This performance is perhaps your very best. That probably sounds unusual, as in many of your later performances your voice has matured and you now have excellent orchestral backup. This performance, from a technical vocal perspective is absolutely spectacular - perfect breathing control, perfect vibrato, and most of all your high notes are unparalleled. That is one of the most difficult things for a vocalist to achieve. When I hear a vocalist crescendo to a high note, I'm always nervous that it will break at the top, very common -as a baritone I struggle with that. But when you hit a high note, you follow with well rounded decrescendo. So difficult to achieve, you have perfect control of your voice. From an artistic perspective, I can see your complete immersion and intensity on your face. It overwhelms my senses and makes me imagine this is Divine presence within you, like I imagine how one of God's Angels would sing. This is especially revealing when at the end, the magnificent intensity disappears from your face and eyes and you're back from the Devine to being a little girl. Bravo dear Amira. You have more than mere talent, you have a gift that touches hearts and minds.
I fully agree and Amira has an innate grace, she pitches heavenly-letting the high notes soar and descend round and gently. I think she enjoys, admires and respects the sheer beauty of this particular arrangement. She is so naturally sweet and modest. I do wish her all the happiness and success to keep this amazing talent to touch hearts so deeply and lasting.
@@vivecamitterer6713That's an excellent way to describe her high notes - well rounded, falls off like a gentle waterfall, and amazing breath control - no "reaching" to hit the high note without sufficient breath. She sounds like she is breathing and singing using her diaphragm, the muscle layer under your lungs, rather than "head voice". The proper way to sing, especially classical music. Even adult vocalists struggle with this and have to train for years to become second nature. She's doing it at age 10ish, maybe younger in this video (believe her Holland's Got Talent debut was at age 7). Then shortly thereafter was invited by Andre' Rieu to do a solo of Oh Miio Babino Caro with the Johann Strauss Orchestra. Amira is often compared to other child vocalists like Jackie Evancho (who coincidentally is a fellow alumni of my high school, North Allegheny, Wexford, PA decades after me). Jackie is an excellent vocalist in her own right, but the amazing thing about Amira is she didn't start formal vocal training until a couple years after she was " discovered". She learned to sing from listening to opera on TH-cam!

How deep can you crawl into the song you are performing...... Very, very deep. This goes beyond "normal" singing. At the end Amira needed a moment to come out of it in "the real world", you can see it clearly. There was something happening in that church. I was not there, but I can see it, can feel it. And I am pretty sure that all the people who were there can remember this beautiful song and that moment as it was yesterday...

How is this even possible. Every time I listen to this it rips at my soul. How does an 11 year old girl sing with such a depth of passion and anguish that it becomes almost unbearable to watch and listen without being able to hold and comfort her at the end. Please God watch over and protect her

from time to time I get the feeling they perceived her as a child who was very good at singing. voice coach, language coach, breathing and phrasing, Amira needs the best. Not to force her but make available for her level of interest.
Amira seems to be such a quick study and so curious and desirous of performing well I think she would just soak it up like a.sponge.
Her parents know her best and obviously love her and want to protect her childhood I just hope the understand how unique and talented Amira is. I will shut up now.

Having followed all her documentaries and a bit of what her parents have shared, I believe they do know how gifted Amira is, more than anyone else does. Her parents are in the best position to guide her safely between dual pressures of exploiting her gift and over-sheltering it. I believe that with their feet solidly planted on the ground and their priorities straight, Amira is being allowed to explore and find her own way. What emerges from Amira years down the road is anyone's guess. I for one am really only interested in Amira's present (pun intended). Each new interview, performance and song I hear about is like opening another wrapped gift.

I have watched all the video interviews etc and it's very obvious Amira is very loved and cared for which is highlighted by her fearless confidence and wonderful character. I guess I am concerned about the quality of her instruction etc. If Amira truley wants to be an opera singer focusing a little more on breathing ,phrasing and language now will help quite a bit later especially avoiding any bad habits. You are correct though we should just enjoy each new performance and the miraculous flowering of her voice. It is none of our business as fans but Amira is so unique as a singer and performer you pray she the best instruction available. Anyway thanks again.

This is now my favorite version and rendition of Ave Maria. As Amira has performed several (3?) versions of Ave Maria, each successive one has become my favorite until I hear another version -- done, of course, by Amira. To me, this version is the most beautiful song I have heard in my 71 years. I both smile and cry when I watch Amira sing this Ave Maria. I noticed her intensity of feeling throughout. Amira really put her heart and soul into this, it seems more than in anything else she has performed.
It's as if she is singing directly to Jesus' mother, Mary.

When I first stumbled upon this video, I watched it on large screen at least 5 times through, and had tears in my eyes each time. It's ironic that Amira's story recalls when she was very young, wanting to be part of a charitable fundraising effort with her brother playing violin and her mother on recorder. She asked what she could perform and was told, "get your own thing". She went to youtube to learn how to sing and discovered herself to be one of the greatest natural talents of the 21st century!
There is a song which is sung by a world renkowned and respected Tenor,which for personal reasons, I love and have regarded as 'the' most beautiful song ever. But I have to say, this song by this luvlee young lady? is without question equal to it. (she is THAT good!!).
I just watched Monstserrat, Maria Callas, Strebetko, and Jackie, and out of the lot...it's AMIRA that moves me...she's the greatest of all time...I hope she doesn't loose it during her teenage years...but only gets BETTER...wow. thanks, AMIRA, and happy 13th birthday in two days.

This is the most incredible voice I’ve heard ever.
I always felt that the OMBC with Andre Rieu was the best, all things considered, that Amira has done. But on reflection, this performance is right up there, especially with the power and passion on display. She was so "in the zone" that her mother and brother could have been playing banjos and penny whistles for all the difference it would have made to her. She was oblivious to all around her except maybe the organ to give her the tempo. This was an outstanding performance, one of many during this period in her relatively short career. Another tour de force by our young star!

Her mother and brother WERE playing banjos and penny-whistles by the sound of it. Almost ruined it, why did they have to steal any of her thunder. Erk.
Her performance of O Maria Babino Caro with André Rieu is indeed amazing, especially considering her young age at the time (I think it was soon after she won Holland's Got Talent). What struck me about that performance is that she accurately expresses the emotions of the lyrics on her little face. I've seen even Pavarotti omit the somber emotions of OMBC.

I just listened to two women singing this song. The first sang it in E-flat. The second sang in C. Amira sings it in F, and hers is by far the best rendition there is. Amira so out-classed these two much older women.
All the time I listen to this video, tears are shedding on my cheeks. Her performance is emotional, powerful and with a remarkable confidence. She's my ultimate favorite female singer, with no one I have this connection. I promised myself to follow Amira the rest of my life. She's become my lifeline in difficult times, gives me strength and comfort for the heart.

Wow! So nice to hear some of the older Church music again. Amira certainly does justice to it. I've never heard anything like her in my life. My late husband was charmed with her singing and always trying to get me to listen. Now I know what he was talking about. Amira is likely the best opera voice both naturally and trained of all time. So smooth and natural as if she's not even trying. God Bless her and keep her safe always.

In the last 3 days I have listened to no fewer than 12 other renditions of this beautiful song. Amira is the youngest and the BEST OF ALL OF THEM. Nobody even comes close to this beautiful rendition by Amira. This is my new favorite Amira song.
Daniel Mills ..... I know exactly what you mean ! This version hasn't gotten the fanfare IMHO it deserves. It may not have the big orchestra, and it may not be the best of recordings, but her voice could drill through stone here. It is that powerful a rendition. Absolutely mind-blowing !!!

@@morrisp.3460 I have listened to three more singers perform this song, and they don't measure up to Amira's rendition. Of the 16 people I have heard performing this song, Amira is the youngest by many years. Her rendition is by far the best! The feeling Amira puts into this song is mature beyond her years. She is the only one who doesn't take a breath between the last high note and the next note (word), "Dio" -- which totally makes this Ave Maria my favorite. I make it a point to have this the last thing I listen to before I go to sleep!

No exaggerated mannerisms, just pure vocal brilliance ! And at 11 years of age ! Just astonishing rendition. You know when Amira closes her eyes and high notes are coming.....you had better hang on. For some unfathomable reason I missed playing this upload from this concert. I've heard all the other amazing performances by Amira many times over, but this one, which I have just heard for the first time, is particularly spectacular. Words almost fail me in describing the sheer beauty of her voice as displayed to perfection here. Couldn't contain the tears! I'm due to see Amira at her 2017 Xmas concert shortly and I can't wait!
Spectacular singing. Amira is gaining breath control and is now able to phrase dramatically and use diminuendo. Having a naturally beautiful instrument is a gift of Nature, but the key to success in opera is intelligence, the ability to learn the needed skills. She has that asset in abundance.
I don't think any sound system can do Amira justice...microphones are for recording, not for amplifying her singing...Amira should sing in acoustically designed opera halls. This performance is too big for the church it's in, bust the seams! really incredible. I've never seen anything like it.

After making myself listen to a lot of opera, I've come to the conclusion that Amira is NOT normal. There are good singer and great singers, Ten notches above them sit's a singing marvel that has no equal. Amira's timing, tone and style are what sets her apart.
Your last sentence hits the mark. She is somehow different to other singers her age in her self contained passion and it comes out as you said, and touches people deeply.
I am not really able to deal with what Amira is putting out. It's too good. Not of this Earth. It's beyond what I could imagine. But there she is ...doing it. Changes the whole game of life...pushes the boundary out about a mile. Just incredible. Very inspiring. thanks Girl.

O,M,C! What a voice! I'm not ashamed to say that the hairs on my neck are vertical and there's a lump in my throat that simply wont go down. ( I guess some wounds just are not meant to heal!). This young lady is truly THE 'find of the century'. I hope she's looked after very well. Tc now every1.
this is a bizarre video in that the background has a group of old white men who are trying desperately to show zero emotion, Amira's accompaniment is a clown show, and the video is totally amateurish....but out of it all AMIRA is locked in producing the highest quality operatic art possibly EVER RECORdED....it is truly bizarre as if the Hope Diamond were being displaced at a neighborhood yard sale.

In her hometown,with the family,she sing without any pressure,very naturally.This performance is the best,so far.
in the church of St. Peter Canisius S.J. who is responsible for adding the second part of the "Hail Mary" prayer...a girl by the name of Amira sings the "Ave Maria" like it has never been sung before...in her hometown...which is the hometown of Peter Canisius...it's incredible. God was listening, the angels were listening, the Virgin Mary was listening...to this odd but historic recording of an all time great vocal performance.
Outside of the accompanied, this could be the greatest individual performance ever sung. Intense, precise, majestic - beautiful. I am thankful to have been able to see and hear it.

Janice, it's because of the purity and beauty of her voice that this sweet child achieves that touches our hearts and moves anyone who has a soul. Combine that with her heartfelt performances and pitch perfect vocals and the tears will inevitably flow! Now at 14, Amira has a voice that is powerful yet still retaining its purity, and as she approaches adulthood the maturity she demonstrates in her performances belies her age and still engenders the same emotional reaction from me every time!
Amira, there will never be a finer family support for your wonderful singing. Cherish it always. The love of your family makes this video very special.

December 8, 2022 Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Amira singing in the Catholic church of St. Peter Canisius - both from the same town in The Netherlands. Peter Canisius is credited with completing the second half of the "Hail Mary". Here is ssomething great, timeless, sublime, full of grace.

This young lady is truly amazing. From the richness of her lower register to the easy power of the high notes this voice should be coming from a much more mature frame. I don’t question how she manages it, I just glory in its beauty. She takes us to a higher plane. From her winning Holland's Got Talent at age 9 (?) she has steadily matured. It has been rightly said that she has the voice of an angel. Is it true that she is largely self-taught? If so, it just makes her achievement all the greater.

What actually surrounds Amira is the unwavering and undisturbed, pure connection to the divine in which she is fully immersed and that protects her in her firm and gentle celestial presence; a presence full of light, love, dedication and certainty, where there is no doubt anymore and where all is in alignment with a higher reality: with the heavenly kingdom she stems from, the heavenly kingdom we all stem from; but she is the strong reminder with whom God has now gifted humanity, unmistakeably capable to allude to those ethereal realms and to the direction that brings us back to our spiritual homes. Such an imperturbable peace and outpouring of confidence, pure and generous in its character, responsive and attainable to all those who through Amira can witness a change in the direction of their hearts that endows them to receive all those unparalleled beautiful higher blessings!
We don’t need to add anything to the divine, but rather make ourselves a vessel where the divine can shine in and dwell. That is why all is so pure and genuine in Amira’s voice and musical expression, an expression that is entirely unpretentious and that within herself has become a synonym of true, unaltered wisdom and manifestation, where the Spirit can speak through in His willingness, to which she has opened herself in the most formidable and glorifying way. That is what distinguishes her and makes her stand on her own in today’s world, but at the same time is there, ready and available to all of us. You have here, a simple violin, an organ and a recorder as musical back up. You have NO special tuners, or instruments in an attempt to improve things. What you have? is a voice that is pure, comes direct from this young lady's soul. THAT you simply can NOT improve. (pst! I always listen to this while I'm alone..... for some strange reason).

Every note rings like a bell. Amira now appears to be extending her range into the lower Mezzo at age 14/15 again every note ringing like a tuning fork. But coupled with this superbly beautiful stradivarius voice is stage presence bar none. All those new to this little wonder look at her performances on youtube starting with HGT Babbino to the present day.
I enjoy how nothing distracts this girl Amira; from the balloon popping in the finals of HGT during her Nessun Droma and now this with her brother and mother muffing the score. Wonderful - Great to see her career is also a family career, all involved - what joy.
Theodore McGee -- I noticed that Frieda and Fincent muffed a little, but didn't want to say so until you did. Considering Amira's flawless performance, the muffing is forgivable. This is my favorite video of the beautiful Amira!
Those "dislikes" must be heartless and soulless creatures of the night with no capacity whatsoever to appreciate what is, by any standards, a truly remarkable and beautifully sung performance of a great composition. Tone deaf and brain dead to boot!
To think Amira was only 11 years old then, makes the performance even more astounding. Her voice is now maturing wonderfully and at 13 years old she is becoming an elegant and beautiful young lady with outstanding prospects as a professional operatic soprano of the highest quality, should she so choose to pursue that career.
I've heard Amira sing this on a private recording by her manager at 13 years of age It is amazing. I'm still hoping it will be on her 3rd CD.

I've just watched Amira when she won HGT singing Nesum Dorma. You can clearly see how she has already improved by listening to her singing here. She is just truly amazing and lets hope we hear lots more of her in the future. ( I can wait). Tc cutie, x
to be fair and objective, I listened to other singers' version of this William Gomez composition...all from TH-cam though...all of them are good but Amira's version is, from my non musical expert opinion, the best...at 2:29 - 2:35 and at 3:48 - 3:54, gave me the reason to conclude...all of them paused or stopped at "madre de dios" part/lyric...but not Amira who continued and extended the 'note'...remarkable...to hear is to believe
I have watched these talent shows from all around the world on u-tube. As yet! I have NOT come across ANY singer that comes close to Amira. Here? basically all you have is an organ to accompany her yet she STILL brings the hairs up on the back of your neck as you listen to her. I have this tendancy to look at the 'eyes' of people when they perform. AS we all know, the eyes can NOT lie and if you look at Amira's eyes when she sings? you can clearly see that she simply goes to a place somewhere. Its not fake! Its honest, its genuine and it is VERY rare, as is Amira. Tc cutie, stay safe.
