We rode it today and I think a trike not designed to go off road would have issues on several sections. But it was a total blast on our Ti-Fly X trikes!!
Just getting back into riding a bike for the first time in 30 years. Trying to find places to ride here in KY. Thank you for what you are doing. Let me know when you make it to McLean Co
I don't know the answer about Mammoth Cave Rail Trail. You'd have to contact the park. On the Central Hardwoods Trail in LBL, I believe the answer is no. But, on all the forest roads, the answer is yes.
@@KentuckyCycling thanks for posting the video yesterday. We rode it today and had a blast. The one hill coming back was a bit challenging trying to maintain traction, but we managed. They really shouldn't have named it a Railroad Trail because it definitely is not a rail trail.
@@rollingreclinerRecumbent The more I ride rail trails, the more I realize that "rail trail" doesn't always equal gently sloping grades. To be fair to the folks that developed this trail, any trail which utilizes a portion of an old railroad bed for a significant portion of the trail can be described as a rail trail. (That being said, Southwest KyMBA refers to it as the Mammoth Cave Gravel Grinder.). In this case, it's those sections where the trail deviates from the old railroad bed that is steep. But, it's not the only example I know of that does this. The Silver Comet trail, in Georgia, for example, has a section that runs parallel to the railroad bed, where I believe the old railroad bed is still in use and it gets rather hilly in that section, even more so than this trail. See th-cam.com/video/VT-lp_HAjFE/w-d-xo.html.
As usual a perfect video of the trail! Looks like a great place to ride a recumbent trike.

Beautiful footage and music! Nice work
Thanks, Kat!

Can you ride E-bikes on these trails including LBL?

Beautiful video! Great sound track. How is your shoulder doing?
Headed for surgery tomorrow. Long recovery to follow.
Take care ,I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery myself.
Do you think this trail could be ridden with an all terrain recumbent trike? How is the surface on the steep part? Loose gravel? Thanks.
How great! Recumbent trike rider here as well! I watch videos this man films because he does a fantastic job showing the actual trail.
I think it’d be fine on an all terrain recumbent trike.

Do you think I could use 700 28c tires would be fine to ride this trail? Basically I only have a roadbike that's why. Thank you.
Could you ride with 28c tires? Yes. Would it be ideal? No, so not sure how much you'd enjoy it. I'd recommend at least 35 mm tires.
Would a Domane w/ 32 mm tires be ok on this trail?
32 mm would be OK, but not necessarily optimal for this trail.
