I swear I laughed as soon as I saw the title... 🤣 I knew watching you build a mini grip would be entertaining and I was not disappointed... In the end Stevie Prevails! Looks good brotha.
Yep Zach makes it look easy but if your not used to working on them the struggle is definatly real lol. I've had the Gerber Shard on my keychain for years great little tool that is very handy. The scales look dope along with the backspacer and clip really nice upgrade over the original. Going all blacked out on the hardware would look cool but a bit of a pain if your doing it yourself and even then it's hard to find colored omega Springs don't think I've seen them anywhere. Thanks for the great vid Stevie and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
I just bought one at the 5.11 store in Colorado Springs for $86. 🤣🤣 the sticker said $117 and the guy even checked the price in their inventory sheet lol.
And the only and I MEAN ONLY good thing about working on benchmades......every one after the first becomes much easier as you start to familiar yourself with how they're put together and function.....and yes having specific b.m tools is ABSOLUTELY worth the investment... but Justin over at ocd4edc is now making and selling a kit in a bunch of colors on there website and there made with precision in mind!!!!!!I think it's under 20 bucks for the whole kit!!!!! Really phenomenal deal for what he's giving you!!!!!
I think with the hole deployment instead of studs, these scales make it look a little bit like the Slyz Bowie. Thanks for the vid, Stevie! I will be getting my hands on a pair of these scales.
Nice job , those aluminum scales changed the look totaly . I like the more rounded original scales , but this looks better , and I bet it carries better , in and out of pocket !
Nice job, Said Stevie. Working on these knives are not as easy as maybe they should be. Thanks for the "struggle bus" share ... we all go through this eventually. Fyi .. OCD-4-EDC makes an inexpensive 3D printed "tool kit" to aid in axis/crossbar lock knife teardown/assembly.
I don’t own any benchmade but I think the grip looks so much better with some of these scale swaps! Actually the Bugout also is a better looking knife with different scales.
I just ordered my first Benchmade yesterday, the Rift (found a store with old stock) and I'm somewhat excited. There aren't many of the newer models that I care much for. Good video Stevie!
@ocd4edc makes a new 3d printed axis lock pivot tool set for around $20. It contains pivot tools for pretty much every benchmade and fits a ton of others as well. Worth checking out. Great job driving the struggle bus. That turned out beautiful.
Nothing more cool than modding a bm. They sure r a pain though😂 just got new cf scales from death grip scales for my mini barrage. Ez enough. Now the backspacer...on an assisted benchmade...im at a loss😂 i think today spyderco is the glock of the knife world
I also have a bad habit of taking my knives that run on washers..and when I have them apart I do run both sides of the washers on my strop a few times to polish them.... it really does seem to have a big impact especially on the action.....
MAN..........as fate would have it......I take my coffee the same exact way you do!!!!!!lmaooooo the odds huh!!!!! 😆 🤣 😂 and the tritium axis bar is FREAKING DOPE ASF!!! I wanna put there thumb studs they do the same way on my 2 bugouts and 940!!!!!!!!and the axis bar.....ohhh and I really would love a tritium button for my protechs to!!!!!!
Yeah the FRN is weird. The only knife I haven't minded it on is the CRKT Aux - they did it well. I wanted one of these until I found the Hogue Ritter Mini RSK MK1 G2... Those scales look real nice.
SS, I commented but apparently TH-cam found my comment objectionable. At any rate it's not here. We'll see if this one stays up. Without going into detail, OCD4EDC has a tool kit and a recent video on disassembly and reassembly of Axis Lock style knives. Even if you don't buy the kit, watch the video, it's VERY informative...I do advise buying the kit though if you intend to fiddle with more Axis Bar Lock style knives.
Why do not buy similar shape knife, with proper scales and comfortable clip, for half price you've spent? Kizer Sparrow, for example. Or CIVIVI Isham Mckenna? Or Olight Rubato 2?
Interesting build, but cold metal scales Instead of contoured scales? I have the exact knife that you just upgraded and changing cold flat aluminum for a contoured design engineered to fit your hand? I don’t think so. 🎸🔪
Au contraire mon frère. The aluminum doesn't have a noticeable temperature at all. As for contoured vs flat, 2 years in and I have yet to have an issue with it. This build has held up well. ✌️
Came out looking great !! Take care Stevie

That was interesting. 😁
It does look pretty nice with the new scales. Thanks for sharing. 👍🇺🇸🤙🇺🇸✌️😁

Thanks Todd!!! 🤜🤛
I like how the scales are more square all around vs the stock ones I also agree Lynch clips are the best in the game overall it was a great video man

The musical 🎼 response to your drink choice was priceless 👌 🤣

Love the scales👌
Great looking knife! I like that blue!!!
Good timing on this video! I actually carried my mini grip (556/154cm) today.
Awesome Stevie great video

I use a Hogue Ritter RSK MK1-G2 and Mini RSK MK1-G2 to fill the Griptillian slot. Keep the struggles turned out great.
You can do it 💪 Said Stevie-Gyver 👏 👏 👏
Struggle Bus 🚌 keeps rolling 🤣
Do you have Lynch Northwest stock? 👍🏻
Nice lookin 👁👁 Good job 👏👍
Does that deep clip cause a hot spot like the Benchmade deep clip?
@@wc5839 I wouldn't consider it a hot spot at all. I can feel it, but it's not uncomfortable
I'm digging it brother! ✌️❤️🔥🥷

I have the larger version and it's very good but would great with better scales

I guess I like the idea of buying all USA products and don't mind spending a little extra to modify something to make it uniquely mine.
