I take the "How cruel" comment from Coach Ukai as being a comment on how unfortunate it is that the monster duo are perfect for each other but only recently met each other, as opposed to what things could've been like if they had years to work together.
That's exactly what I took from it as well and I think it's very very fitting. In this moment both of them showed insane chemistry and how they unlock the potential in each other, it's very logical Coach Ukai realized it too.
I always understood it as a comment from the point of view of someone looking at 2 genius players - the how cruel being him stating how cruel it is for normal people to watch how quickly they’ve adapted to each other and how they can speak openly without any ulterior motive, both being completely engrossed by volleyball
I saw the comment "How Cruel" as reference to Ole Coach Ukai and Neko's coach Nekomata being enemies who ended up on the same team when they were in school, then formed a friendship and rivalry that lasted until they both started coaching their own teams later in their lives.
even going as far as to making the younger players want to do their absolute best to make the "battle of the garbage dump" happen again. Both teams battling at Nationals just like they did once and only once before. While Nekomata and Ukai (little giants team) were coaches.
The first ten episodes of Haikyuu are like the tutorial section of a videogame; you get all your party members, your leader, learn about the skills, the world, the antagonist, and then you're all set. So going forward, we're finally all set to get started and go deeper into the show. As for the nose strip, maybe just a simple "Karasuno" could work.
@lachyyywhite it definitely will get better. The biggest takeaway from the anime is the idea that there are no "bad guys", they're all just people enjoying the sport in their own life. With that in mind, and knowing everyone will receive love and respect, it will be a powerful journey of love for the game, sportsmanship, and self-reflection.
It's easy to say "it's anime, of course it's unrealistic" but in the case of Haikyuu so much of the show is grounded in realism that I actually enjoy seeing athletes point out the parts that aren't so true-to-life. It's refreshing as someone who's never played to see just how few parts of it actually get pointed out as unrealistic by people like you or Sarah Pavan when she watched it, so don't be afraid to nitpick! The hardest part about the choice between Kageyama and Suga isn't so much that Suga's a third-year and it's his last chance to play, but also that he and the other third years are practically the only thing that held the club together after Grandpa Ukai retired, so not being able to play in matches when it's finally successful after holding it together for so long feels much more cruel (especially since the other third-years are already locked in as starters so he would be the only one left out).
I've never seen someone react to Haikyuu and mention so many personal experiences that parallel not only current show events but even future ones. Your reactions are a delight.
@@lachyywhite I don't want to give any spoiler so I'll keep this super vague. Characters in the show will say things you've said in your reactions, basically word for word, which just makes me look so forward to when you get there. Your passion for the sport is palpable, hope the knee injury doesn't discourage you to continue going at it! 😊
Even though it is a long burn we haikyuu fans know it will be sweeter when those moments arrive. Edit: also because Lachy is already alluding to them and will appreciate them. No spoilers!
Haikyuu is special and had a massive impact on Japanese volleyball scene. It pretty much tripled the amount of volleyball club members in japnese high-schools through it's runtime, many of which would become professionals over time.
One of my favorite things about this show is Hinata’s reaction to other skilled players. It always pumps him up rather than intimidate or discourage him. It’s such a fun part of his character. I mean I know he had his little space out in this ep but it’s such a minor blip and he gets over it so much easier than a normal person. His cheerfulness and enthusiasm is god tier.
I think this is partly true of most of the players in the show--they're all such little volleyball nerds that even when they're watching people they dislike do something amazing, they can't help but get excited. But because Hinata's so expressive, and because he's relatively new to volleyball, his reactions are incredibly pure.
I'm glad you didn't take offence to Kageyama's "As long as I'm here, you're invincible" speech. I've watched a lot of reactors (mostly Westerners) who hate Kageyama for saying that. Like he is taking credit for Hinata's greatness. I thought it might be a cultural thing because as an Asian, I don't feel that way. Hinta knows he still have a lot to learn. His serves and receives suck. He can barely block as a middleblocker, lol! He doesn't have the height and the power of the ace. I always felt like Kageyama's speech is more like Tanaka's during the match against seijoh when he said even Daichi knows he's lousy yet he let Hinata play. The senpais will make up for his mistakes. Kageyama is telling Hinata that he got his back and all he needs to be is himself and not worry about not being as tall or as strong as Asahi. Also, I've stopped counting how many times you say the same lines as the characters in the show, lol! It happens every episode. 😂😂😂
I though it was such a great line, it was to lift him up and make him feel better in my eyes! And I’ll stop saying sorry hahah, you’ll have to point them out to me when I reach the moments
Agreed. I also felt sad seeing multiple reactors interpreting Kageyama's line in a negative way. It's uplifting to see that it was taken positively in this channel!
And Hinata, because of his past experiences, is hyper aware that he can't play volleyball alone, however fast or athletic he is (flash forward to another character, much later in the manga, who is also very aware of how weak he is alone, and also turns that into a positive!), so Kageyama essentially saying "you've got me" is going to mean even more to him. (Just as Kageyama values Hinata's "I'm here" after his middleschool experience.)
This is one of my favorite, favorite, favorite episode! Kageyama's famous line, "As long as I'm here, you're invincible!" has finally arrived! Some reactors may interpret this as Kageyama belittling Hinata, but that's not the case. HINATA was downplaying his own role and abilities, so Kageyama is simply encouraging him in his own way. Even when Hinata feels that he's not good enough alone, together they can bring out his strengths. Kageyama truly admires Hinata! And the fact that Kageyama saying about doing something together shows remarkable growth!
Goddamn faster than light today!! So, Ukai's "How cruel" is actually one of the most realest conclusion one can reach if you saw two kids getting along like that. Hinata didn't have a team that could develop his raw strength and athletics to have proper technique and be a really good player earlier. Kageyama was in a team which wasn't able at all to follow his tosses and couldn't stand his personality. In just a couple weeks, both of them meet a situation where they had to trust each other to use the full potential of each other on the court.... How cruel is the destiny that these two kids weren't able to meet way earlier, imagine if those two were childhood friends and got to play together since the very beginning...
@@lachyywhite its past midnight... i work at 5am... please have mercy... be more considerate. on the other hand i wouldnt mind another episode right now :P
If the person watching is interesting, Haikyuu reactions are always worth it. (and Volleyball players usually are) I lost count of how many channels I watched already.
So few shows i can confidently say; every episode is a banger. What i love most about this episode, is it tries to solidify what Noya was saying last episode, be proud of your role. You were picked for a reason, show them you are worth that position
I always see people asking about Ukai's "how cruel" line. I personally think he meant that it's cruel that they didn't meet earlier. Like he had assumed they were childhood friends at one point, seeing how well they seemed to understand each other, even though they were bickering nonstop. Because that is a thing that comes with the comfort of a long time friend. Bickering. Bantering. NIckpicking at each other. Pushing each other. And Hinata and Kageyama seem to do this naturally, even though they've only known each other a matter of weeks at this point. So can you imagine the teamwork between these two if they had grown up together? It would be out of this world. Cruel, indeed.
You might be right. What I thought was that Ukai sympathized with Suga since he viscerally found that Suga can never reach to Kageyama's level no matter how hard he tries, but Ukai also could feel Suga's dedication and effort for the team so far…. I love Suga😍
another aspect of chosing Kageyama instead of Suga is to give him as much experience as possible in his first year so that he is more of a monster later.
Also so Hinata can be used effectively, he's only a really good decoy with their freak quick when he plays with Kageyama. With Suga he could still spike but realistically he would be so much less useful even just as a regular spiker (with his stature and current skill level). You might as well have a different middle blocker/spiker on the court at that point. Edit: Hinata could still have his use on the court with his speed and quick reflexes but really what he has going for him right now is his spiking, and jumping which surprises people, but his blocking and especially his receiving are weak to the point they would outweigh his spiking ability if Kageyama isn't on the court.
Ah this is a great episode. So many other people have already said this, but I'm excited for you to get to later seasons, and see characters basically repeating things that you said in these early videos! Love Asahi's little interaction with Hinata in this episode (yet another really good senior making the younger players feel welcomed), and I love how invested the town team already are in these kids.
I love how whenever Kageyama or Hinata is struggling with anything, the other steps up to give them belief and support. 19:07 Literal soulmates, the way it was animated and the subtle relief and comfort in Hinata's face here, ain't no way they didn't fall in love
23:50 Most reactors dont get what Ukai meant by “how cruel” but it meant how cruel it was for them to meet later in their lives because both are each other’s half. Both have been incomplete for years and they just now met each other in highschool to meet up with their other half. Hinata needed a setter while Kageyama needed someone who could hit his sets. Both in which didnt have for years until they met up in highschool that’s why it was “cruel” because imagine for years, not having a setter or a hitter that could play like you do until you meet up with them years later
Didn't expect to see my country's national volleyball team (Poland - the serve of Mateusz Bieniek) mentioned in the same video as Haikyuu! I watched Haikyuu a few times so it's fun to learn something new by watching your reactions. I honestly can't wait for you to move on to later seasons, I think Haikyuu just gets better with every season. Great video as always
If you want a good Haikyuu word to get for your nasal strip, just get one word: "Fly". I'm not saying anymore and I hope no one else elaborates too much. You gotta trust me on this one. White word on black strip just like the one you got there.
The way you connect to this show... You are not ready! 😂 It just gets better and better. I went from a volleyball imbecile to going "volleyball is FIRE" after this show. I really look forward to your journey with this show.
Really liked the captain story - I remember a quote from another anime - RWBY - which was very much similar to what you said: "So instead of fretting about what you don't have, savor what you do. Hone your skills, perfect every technique, and be, not the best leader, but the best person you can be." About the "How cruel" - what he means is - how cruel for Suga to compete for position with someone this talented. He thinks that cuz Kageyama can do such amazing play with Hinata after few days while for anyone else this level of connection might take years. You wouldn't believe how fun your stories are in context :p The reason they put the clock in is for time context - you can see how late it is and how long they practiced for etc. To be fair dont be worried about calling it "kids show" - Haikyuu is a "shounen" which literally means "young man" - basically YA of Anime the target audience is like 12-20 tbh Looking forward to the next one :)
I agree with this. There are several interpretations of ukai's how cruel comment, but I think it pertains more about Suga in his last year of high school competing against a genius like Kageyama than Kageyama and Hinata only meeting in high school. Yes, it is unfortunate that Kageyama and Hinata only met in high school. They could've been Oikawa and Iwaizumi level right now, or better, if they went to the same middle school. But Fate is a lot more cruel on Suga, who most likely had to wait for his chance to be the main setter of Karasuno (since he also had senpais in his 1st and 2nd year who are probably the main setters before him), only for Kageyama to enroll to Karasuno on his 3rd year, when it's supposed to be his time to shine.
I didn't expect to see a polish volleyball player clip 😅I'm pretty sure i've seen that match live aswell, it's from 2021 VNL Greetings from Poland man! Great reaction as always
OOH just cause you mentioned end credit scenes.... episode 24 has a REALLY important one. Please don't miss it. I know it's awhile til you get there, but just wanted to give you a heads up.
Yooohhh!! I was waiting for the next one to drop and today is the day! Gosh Haikyuu is a show that hypes you up so much and has a lot of good messages, the first time i watched it i wanted to binge the whole series right that instant, immediate addiction. In case i'll ever have kids, i'd make them watch Avatar and Haikyuu. Those two shows were my childhood and early teenage years, i'd want them to feel the same happieness and excitement i did when i warched them.
I'm obsessed by how much you take in all that is happening in the background!! Also so much of what you say makes me so hyped for you to see all of the show and how they tackle so many of your own experiences! This is going to be an EPIC reaction experience.
I try super hard to go over the details, so I’m glad you appreciate it hahah. And I’m super excited to keep going and see what other aspects they cover
agreed fully on your ending statements. the show is ridiculously inspiring and that can apply to volleyball or any interest/passion you have! so much value in this show just about how to learn from and work with other people who have different experiences, strengths, outlooks etc. Compassion + the will to improve + perseverence can bring you very far
It is fantastic how they showcase these themes that can be applied to so many different areas. I love that they are being entertaining whilst making a difference in peoples lives
Why do I feel like I just watched a spoiler episode 👀👀👀 Also love the red and black. Those were my school colors in college - Go Dawgs!!!! Last but not least I always appreciate ur Oikawa shoutouts 😂😂😂
So I never comment on anything but even if it’s just a little post saying what I think watching you I think it’s important for you as the creator. Your insight into not only this but other reactions with my hero and more is the reason I come back and watch in a hurry every time I see you post, usually I watch to see what others think of what I like but with your content it’s much like taking a friend on the journey and watching with them. The comments you make and talk about I never skip and listen because they’re not long useless talks but important to the point of the show and shows how much you’re paying attention to what I already love and hope you enjoy this and the other series as well.
Wowzers thanks so much! This means the world to me. I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying it so far and I’m super grateful to have you here with me on this journey
Ive just binged the whole series in the past few hours and Im so hyped to see this was just uploaded. The only thing Im upset about is I cant just watch every one of your reactions to each episode yet😭. I cant wait for more tho!
found your channel last week and have binged your haikyuu reactions! love watching with the perspective of people who actually play the sport it makes the video that much better and your commentary on the game and the sport culture is awesome!
kinda late and don't really know what to say but man i really love seeing your reactions! it's so relatable and it's very nice to see someone who can relate to the experiences that these characters go through just like me! seriously, you're great :) 🩷
Man I love listening to volleyball players talk about Haikyuu. There's just always so much insight into gameplay and mindsets and there's a feral little part of me that cackles every time terms come up that'll come into play later on in the show.
Can't wait to rewatch all the seasons and see you fall in love with all these characters the same way we all did. If you are already loving them you don't have an idea of how much more you will after seeing their development along the episodes!!!
The "how cruel" comment is due to the Japanese speech etiquette. As it's known, the Japanese people are so polite and have guides to how to approach or speak to anyone depending on how close you are or your relationship (familial/work) and even these got sub divisions 😂 So when Kageyama calls Hinata out in that point blank way, the coach thought they were childhood friends but when corrected he commented "how cruel" as an expression of how out of politeness it might seem to outsiders.
23:53 I always saw this as Ukai calling destiny/fate cruel. Like imagine if Hinata and Kageyama have grown up like childhood friends, played volleyball together on a daily basis. They're already providing these great results after a few, what, weeks? of playing with each other. They have that spark between them, so imagining them when they're a well-oiled machine due to years spent together would be amazing. In that sense, having these two meet only now, does seem a tad cruel. I love your reactions and eagerly look towards them, especially your own experience with volleybal! Thank you for the episode!
Black and Red are my favorite colors as well, my kid knows this and when she goes to get me gifts with mum she always has her input to make sure it's 'black and red, not seperate or mixed but together.'
I just watched all of Haikyuu for the first time over the past few weeks. Wanted to see someone else's thoughts - and I love your reactions. Your thoughts on your personal experiences and even inserting some actual clips of volleyball plays are super interesting!
Oh yeah “with me you’re invincible” is such a good line. So many great lines in this show, can’t wait for you to hear the rest! Also, can I just say that I loved the clips you added of irl volleyball? Cause those were great! I haven’t been able to actually play much volleyball, but watching compilations and hearing anecdotes of players makes me feel so inspired! Here’s hoping I get more chances to play soon!! PS: that jersey you wore was freakin dope!
when a serve approach is the same on a spike serve or a flout serve it is called a hybrid serve to appear as both at the same time but different by the hit
I love this show so much, the vibes of team, teamwork, friendship (as corny as it sounds). Only positive outlook on things, all the support from the teammates and Volleyball Association, it lifts a man up, you know? 🏐⚡
I’ve just found an article by a Japanese blogger about Ukai’s line “How cruel” considered from many aspects. It stated what Ukai meant was “the reality which there is a pair of first-year players who have perfected a special fast attack overnight, surpassing the experience, trust, and stability which third-year players have built up.” I agree to the opinion. Many thought that "cruel" was unluck about the late encounter timing of Hinata & Kageyama, and I see it was inevitable since a language cannot be perfectly translated to another language. Japanese language has a few words fit to English “cruel”, and Ukai selected one of the “cruel”s which often being used for the overwhelming event which no matter how hard we try there is a force human cannot resist. I reckon it is from Japanese cultural view of life & death with full of nature disasters in history. However, as many already knew, Suga is also a great player which knows how to contribute team sport for better result and it is no doubt that Suga is much better than Kageyama on the point. Can’t we think it’s a kind of talent? Also, Kageyama is surely a genius but his built-up has not been shown yet so I don’t like “genius” is considered as effortless although Kageyama might say it’s effortless as he only loves playing volleyball.
I'm watching along with you and i js got reduced to tears watching episode 16. I know you'll be too, and its my fav episode so far. This show keeps amazing me. I can't wait for you to see it.
I didn't get the notification 😭 The "as long as im here you're invincible" remains one of my favorite lines ever. I think that a comment like this gets even more reassuring when it comes from someone so skilled and straightforward (im not sure if thats the word im looking for😭) as kageyama, you know there is no other hidden meaning in his words. I LOVE their dynamic sm:((
30:00 it goes even deeper than that. In last episode coach says he wish he could set but he must be on the side watching and coaching so that was the reason why he had to take one of the setters to go to other team. Coach's role when he was playing was setter so when he says how he was in the players shoes and waiting/hoping to be picked as regular he was literally putting himself in suga's shoes because he was in same situation (even wore the same "2" dress)
AHAHAHAHAHA Subscribe so Tsukki doesn't become the ace! - Subscribed immediately.... well I would have if I wasn't already subscribed! lol. I love both your anecdotes as well as how you pick up on and point out all the lessons and morals that are scattered throughout the episodes. Keeps me coming back, loving these reactions. Thanks for sharing!! 🥰🤩
Watching this really late but this is also another of my favorite episodes as it deals with Hinata's mental struggles, his envy, etc. Hinata is a character that I feel so closely connected to and I hold him very dear to my heart so as many times as i watch this, I understand what Kageyama was doing but I always hate the fact that he told Hinata "you'll never be the ace". That's such an incredibly cruel thing to say, he doesn't know what Hinata's future path will be with volleyball so how can he be so sure that he can't ever be an ace? I guess that's just a minor thing to most people but I can't help but take issue with that. Also Hinata's face as he hits the spike is really interesting. I'm not sure if a lot of people see it the way I do but to me he looks so sad as if he's having to accept the fact that any strength he has as a volleyball player at this point in time is so reliant on another person. I don't deny that Kageyama is a big factor in Hinata's growth, they both serve that role for each other but I look forward to Hinata's journey to reaching the point (no spoilers) when he's no longer physically reliant on anybody else to be a strong player on his own.
it would be cool to have a nose strip that says FLY also I've been seeing ppl saying u upload at inconvenient time for others lmao that's just Australia time everytime
If you want a Haikyuu-related word for the nose strip, I think "Fly" would be the most appropriate. As you already know by now, Karasuno is given a lot of crow (karasu) imagery. Since volleyball is a much more aerial sport compared to other sports (like baseball, football, rugby, etc.), the crow "flying" a very not-subtle metaphor for Karasuno. Also, just in a general context, "Fly" is a pretty good call to action, even outside Haikyuu's context.
"I freakin' love pancakes!" My youtuber is not a waffle guy 😔 (And before anyone gets confused, It is a joke. 😇) Loving the reactions, boss! Cheers to many more.
Now that you mentioned it, I listen to a youtuber who narrates reddit stories who calls his viewers waffle gang. I don't know if there's any meaning behind it or any reference that went over my head, lol.
I would say that it's not the case that Kageyama has no emotional inteligence, he has a bit actually, since he could tell exactly how Hinata was feeling and what he was thinking, I just think he has a hard time showing his emotions. He had no real friends all his life and the only thing in his mid is volleyball, and only recently he found a group of people he could count on, so he's still learning how to interact and express himself.
I agree. And it's not just Hinata. He ran after Suga, thinking he might be feeling bad when seijo agreed to a practice match with the condition of Kageyama playing setter. He also gave asahi that speech that he's not alone and there are 6 people in the court. He can't win by himself or lose by himself. I think kageyama has no filter and has poor communication skills, so he comes off as rude most of the time. But he knows how to take what he gives. That's why he harbours no ill-will against Kindaichi or Kunimi or Oikawa. And when he makes mistakes, he acknowledges them and try to do better.
What I got from the how cruel statement was that even though their weapon was very strong it was kageyama who was doing 90% percent of the things. Hinata just happened to match him. Hinata was nothing but kind of a tool for kageyama and karasuno to launch their greatest attack. Other than that he wasn’t adding any value to the team. So Ukai kind of felt bad for him. Well it’s my pov maybe I write and watch too much dark stuff so it may sound harsh but life is all about perspectives.
The episodes go by so fast. If you've got the time, maybe consider doing a binge of 2/3 episodes in 1 video. Might make it too long or too large a file for TH-cam, but just a thought. I know I almost can't stand just seeing 1 episode at a time. There's a new anime I started watching called "Solo Leveling" and I think it's amazing, but it's so new I have to wait a week for each episode, sometimes 2/3 if they aren't making any that week, and it's so frustrating not being able to just watch it all in 1 sitting. .... Ok, done rambling about other shows, but yeah, maybe 1 day just have like 2/3 videos lined up and release them all at once as a Haikyu binge day 😂
@@lachyywhite As someone who both loves this anime, and has played a whole lot of volleyball (beach and rebound beach, sadly didn't get much chance for hardcourt), I relate heaps to watching your videos on this.
It is easily my favourite line so far, absolutely saw it as him lifting Hinata up
Goddamn faster than light today!!
Let’s gooo so fast today hahah. And okay that makes total sense, thank you for explaining that for me
Something generic but still haikyu related for the nose strips would be "Fly" or "Fly high"
Yeah I like that idea
How about "fly” in Japanese? white "飛べ” looks good in black.
Why must you always post a new haikyuu reaction when im supposed to be asleep this is cyberbullying
same. i was just about to go to bed lmaooo
Same, have to get up early for work tomorrow 😭
I’m not apologising to anyone 😂😂
@@lachyywhite its past midnight... i work at 5am... please have mercy... be more considerate.
on the other hand i wouldnt mind another episode right now :P
And then, here i am, watching it while having breakfast.
I clicked on this channel and I thought “I’m not gonna rewatch Haikyuu a third time” but seeing how much you love it has me LOCKED IN😤👊🏾
Wait till u do that for the tenth time xDD
If the person watching is interesting, Haikyuu reactions are always worth it. (and Volleyball players usually are) I lost count of how many channels I watched already.
Hahaha let’s goooo, I’m super grateful to have you here to watch again with me
@@lachyywhiteDon’t worry I got the tissues and snacks🫡I’m ready for all four seasons
I feel like you've said "just this one time" in regards to begrudgingly agreeing with Tsukishima a fair bit more than one time lol. 😂
You ain’t got no proof…. Hahah
So few shows i can confidently say; every episode is a banger. What i love most about this episode, is it tries to solidify what Noya was saying last episode, be proud of your role. You were picked for a reason, show them you are worth that position
Every episode has been fantastic, and that was my favourite part as well. Rock your role and be the best you can be
I always see people asking about Ukai's "how cruel" line.
Ahhh okay that makes total sense! Thank you for breaking it down for me like thay
@@lachyywhite Thank you too for great reactions! Im always fully amused.
There are so many little things you mention during your discussion that let me know you will absolutely love this show from start to end
I am superrr keen to to see all the different elements
"Fly" would be a perfect haikyuu word that would work on the black strip
I think that would be sick!
another aspect of chosing Kageyama instead of Suga is to give him as much experience as possible in his first year so that he is more of a monster later.
Hmmhmhmh super true, a tough decision
Yes I’m super excited to keep watching through the seasons, and I absolutely love how much support the team is already getting
cant wait for you to watch season 4. the person you described with 2 serves is in season 4.
I love how whenever Kageyama or Hinata is struggling with anything, the other steps up to give them belief and support. 19:07 Literal soulmates, the way it was animated and the subtle relief and comfort in Hinata's face here, ain't no way they didn't fall in love
This is very true! Although they fight they are always there for each other
23:50 Most reactors dont get what Ukai meant by “how cruel” but it meant how cruel it was for them to meet later in their lives because both are each other’s half.
Ahhh okay that makes total sense, thank you for explaining that for me!
I thought the ‘how cruel’ refers to how much work ukai will have to put on the duo but yours makes more sense 😅
Yes they are such a strong team! And I’m super excited to keep going through the seasons and discovering more
I’ve been checking TH-cam every few hours to see if you’ve uploaded. Thank you for allowing me to relive watching this anime for the first time again.
Hahaha let’s go! I’m super grateful to have you here to watch with me and I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying
25:25 Here's something to watch out for. Have you ever seen Nishinoya receive above hand?
I am losing my goddamn mind over this simple fact that Lachy doesn't like overhand receiving. Like. !!!!
If you want a good Haikyuu word to get for your nasal strip, just get one word: "Fly". I'm not saying anymore and I hope no one else elaborates too much. You gotta trust me on this one. White word on black strip just like the one you got there.
Fly would be sixk
Fly would be sick
I take it you're auditioning for the live action with that Asahi impression in the intro!
HAHAHAHAHAHAH sign me up
Oh my gosh! Then you'll love Nekoma since their team colours are red and black.
There jersey is super cool
I wish this guy had more episodes of anime reactions. I love watching his reactions to all of the anime so far, its so good
Hahaha I’m trying to get more out I swear, thank you so much for being here with me though! I really appreciate it
You summed it up.Why I love Haikyu makes we want to better myself and always leaves me smiling.
I love that! Could not agree more
The way you connect to this show... You are not ready! 😂
It just gets better and better. I went from a volleyball imbecile to going "volleyball is FIRE" after this show.
I really look forward to your journey with this show.
Thanks so much for your kind words, and I am absolutely loving it so far!
Really liked the captain story - I remember a quote from another anime - RWBY - which was very much similar to what you said: "So instead of fretting about what you don't have, savor what you do. Hone your skills, perfect every technique, and be, not the best leader, but the best person you can be."
About the "How cruel" - what he means is - how cruel for Suga to compete for position with someone this talented. He thinks that cuz Kageyama can do such amazing play with Hinata after few days while for anyone else this level of connection might take years.
You wouldn't believe how fun your stories are in context :p
The reason they put the clock in is for time context - you can see how late it is and how long they practiced for etc.
To be fair dont be worried about calling it "kids show" - Haikyuu is a "shounen" which literally means "young man" - basically YA of Anime the target audience is like 12-20 tbh
Looking forward to the next one :)
Thanks so much for your kind words and I really like that quote as well! I also really appreciate you breaking those lines down for me
I didn't expect to see a polish volleyball player clip 😅I'm pretty sure i've seen that match live aswell, it's from 2021 VNL
Greetings from Poland man! Great reaction as always
Yes it was! Sorry I called him Russian in the video hahah, but his service game is insane
The last episode of the season has an after credits which you cannot miss
Ah okay I’ll remember this!
OOH just cause you mentioned end credit scenes.... episode 24 has a REALLY important one. Please don't miss it. I know it's awhile til you get there, but just wanted to give you a heads up.
I’ve had a couple people mention this! Thanks so much for pointing it out for me
Hahaha thanks so much for your kind words, and I definitely agree, avatar is an eliteeee show
I'm obsessed by how much you take in all that is happening in the background!!
I love that they are being entertaining whilst making a difference in peoples lives
fly is definitely the word for haikyuu
Amazing
Why do I feel like I just watched a spoiler episode 👀👀👀
Also love the red and black. Those were my school colors in college - Go Dawgs!!!!
Last but not least I always appreciate ur Oikawa shoutouts 😂😂😂
Let’s go red and black! And the Oikawa hate never gonna stop
I 'm actually re-reading the manga for the nth time because of you, Keep it up
Let’s gooo! That’s sick, I hope you’re enjoying it!
Hahaha there’s more coming soon I promise
Love hearing your experience and the examples you show us, makes everything even more interesting!
I’m super glad! It makes it a lot easier for me to explain things if I include some videos as well
found your channel last week and have binged your haikyuu reactions! love watching with the perspective of people who actually play the sport it makes the video that much better and your commentary on the game and the sport culture is awesome!
Let’s goooo! Thanks so much for being here with me to watch the series, it means the world to me!
kinda late and don't really know what to say but man i really love seeing your reactions! it's so relatable and it's very nice to see someone who can relate to the experiences that these characters go through just like me!
seriously, you're great :) 🩷
Thanks so much for your kind words! It’s totally made my day. I’m super grateful to have you here with me on the journey
Man I love listening to volleyball players talk about Haikyuu. There's just always so much insight into gameplay and mindsets and there's a feral little part of me that cackles every time terms come up that'll come into play later on in the show.
The details in the show are crazy!!!
26:27 hmmmm.... sounds like a character we will see in the future😏😏😏
Man I hope so!
Can't wait to rewatch all the seasons and see you fall in love with all these characters the same way we all did. If you are already loving them you don't have an idea of how much more you will after seeing their development along the episodes!!!
Each of the characters I meet I do seem to love!
Thank you for a great reaction and your anecdotes ✌️🇦🇷
I’m really glad you liked it! Thanks so much for your kind words
Im so happy that I found you🎉🎉❤ yr reaction is so good😊
Thanks so much! I’m really glad you’re enjoying them and I’m so grateful to have you here!
The "how cruel" comment is due to the Japanese speech etiquette. As it's known, the Japanese people are so polite and have guides to how to approach or speak to anyone depending on how close you are or your relationship (familial/work) and even these got sub divisions 😂
So when Kageyama calls Hinata out in that point blank way, the coach thought they were childhood friends but when corrected he commented "how cruel" as an expression of how out of politeness it might seem to outsiders.
Ahhh okay this makes total sense!
Ahhh that makes total sense, thanks so much for explaining that for me!
You are my favorite haikyuu reactor your videos are so interesting and makes me excited for the next one to come out
Thanks so much for your kind words, that means the absolute world to me!
I’m super grateful to have you here with me and thanks so much for your kind words! I hope you enjoyed the show the first time through
This is easily my favorite show, I’ve watched it so many times. So seeing you get as into this show as I am is amazing. Keep up the amazing reactions!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m absolutely loving it so far and I’m super grateful to have you here to watch with me
Let's go, new Haikyuu reaction! 🎉
Another great reaction!! Thank you for the joy you bring and for reigniting my love for this show!
Thanks so much for your kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed the reaction and I appreciate having you here so much!
the perfect word for karasuno for the nose strip would be "fly"
That sounds sick
Oh yeah “with me you’re invincible” is such a good line. So many great lines in this show, can’t wait for you to hear the rest! Also, can I just say that I loved the clips you added of irl volleyball? Cause those were great! I haven’t been able to actually play much volleyball, but watching compilations and hearing anecdotes of players makes me feel so inspired! Here’s hoping I get more chances to play soon!!
PS: that jersey you wore was freakin dope!
It was a sick line, and I’m really glad you enjoyed them! I find it easier to explain things if I include some videos as well
when a serve approach is the same on a spike serve or a flout serve it is called a hybrid serve to appear as both at the same time but different by the hit
Yes it’s super cool and wildly hard to defend against
commenting for the algorithm, lovely insight as always ive said many times before ur reactions are easily the best ive seen in recent months!
Thanks so much as always! I really appreciate your support and I’m glad you enjoyed the reaction
I'm so glad to see the post I've been low key feigning for the next upload
Hahaha you wished it into existence
I love this show so much, the vibes of team, teamwork, friendship (as corny as it sounds). Only positive outlook on things, all the support from the teammates and Volleyball Association, it lifts a man up, you know? 🏐⚡
I absolutely could not agree more, I love all the themes so much!
The nose strap should say "FLY"
I agree with this after watching ahead a bit
32:47 “watch out this guys got an insane toppy” idk why but in my mind I instantly went “pause 💀”
HAHAHAH
LMAOSSKSJSKSJSJ
loving the inclusion of real life clips to help show how realistic some of these sequences are!
I’m really glad they helped! It makes it easier for me to explain that way as well
I’ve just found an article by a Japanese blogger about Ukai’s line “How cruel” considered from many aspects.
Ahh okay that’s super interesting, thanks so much for breaking those down for me!
Monday morning?!?!? I watched while going to work! No fair! But awesome as usual reaction!!
Hahaha I hope you had a great day at work!
Yessssss, happy that you noticed Kageyama is now encouraging Hinata!
Oooh, you clocked Yamaguchi's interested in the float serve right away 😎
Can't wait for the matchesss also moon arc
I just started watching some matches before I went to China and they go offfff
okay but the clip of that slide hit you played has me SHOOK! Is THAT how people see Hinata?! Just wicked fast and showing up out of nowhere?! Wild.
Yeah pretty crazy hey!
I'm watching along with you and i js got reduced to tears watching episode 16. I know you'll be too, and its my fav episode so far. This show keeps amazing me. I can't wait for you to see it.
I’m super excited to keep going through this season!
I can't wait for the Season 3 reactions. It'll be a long while before it comes around, but I'm just waiting until the time comes :D
Letsss goo, I’ll get there eventually hahah. I really appreciate having you here with me
Perfect to watch during my work break 👌 Really enjoying your reactions so far 🤗
Hahah let’s go! And thanks so much, I’m really glad you’re enjoying them
I had the same reaction with you when you said "Aww.. it's over already?"
Same bro!!! Please post the next episode's reaction soon 🙏🙏
Hahaha I know it kills me, I’ve got more coming soon!
I didn't get the notification 😭
The "as long as im here you're invincible" remains one of my favorite lines ever. I think that a comment like this gets even more reassuring when it comes from someone so skilled and straightforward (im not sure if thats the word im looking for😭) as kageyama, you know there is no other hidden meaning in his words. I LOVE their dynamic sm:((
Haha thats okay! I’ll see you there early on the next one! And so far it is one of my favourite lines, superrr powerful
27:10 (talking about serves) "you have some people who can do BOTH and interchange them freely" HAHAHHAHAHAHH. i wont say anything lol
Had the same reaction 👀👀
30:00 it goes even deeper than that. In last episode coach says he wish he could set but he must be on the side watching and coaching so that was the reason why he had to take one of the setters to go to other team. Coach's role when he was playing was setter so when he says how he was in the players shoes and waiting/hoping to be picked as regular he was literally putting himself in suga's shoes because he was in same situation (even wore the same "2" dress)
Ahhh that makes total sense! Thanks so much for explaining that for me
AHAHAHAHAHA Subscribe so Tsukki doesn't become the ace!
HAHAHAH let’s gooo! Thanks so much for your kind words, and I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying the reaction. I really appreciate you being here
Sorry I’m late, I checked in esrlier for a vid then took a nap and boom 😂
Hahaha I knew you’d be sleeping
@@lachyywhite 😂😂😂 opened my eyes and boom a gem waiting for me
Can't wait!!!!!
Let’s gooo
10:00 IT JUST ME OR DID HE SOUND LIKE A CLOWN HORN? AM I CRAZY OR SOMETHING!?
HAHAHAHAH
Thanks so much for breaking it down that way, that makes a heap of sense for me!
it would be cool to have a nose strip that says FLY
also I've been seeing ppl saying u upload at inconvenient time for others lmao that's just Australia time everytime
Hahah I’m trying my best, I’ll try and find some better times! And fly would be sick
I think that would be super sick
"I freakin' love pancakes!"
My youtuber is not a waffle guy 😔 (And before anyone gets confused, It is a joke. 😇) Loving the reactions, boss! Cheers to many more.
Now that you mentioned it, I listen to a youtuber who narrates reddit stories who calls his viewers waffle gang. I don't know if there's any meaning behind it or any reference that went over my head, lol.
HAHAHAH I love this, thanks so much for your kind words and I’m glad you enjoyed
started giggling and kicking my feet when i saw this video.
I do that when I see Oikawa…
just remember season 1 episode 24 has an after credit scene
Amazing thank you for reminding me!
As a gymbro It makes me laugh so much everytime you Flex your biceps😂.. i know too well the urge to flex😂😂
HAHAHA we can’t help it, I’m glad you can relate
20:42 yeeep to both ends like
26:51 ooo approach talk
This is a very good point, thank you for explaining it like this to me
I often unsubscribe after doing a full Haikyuu run. But I'm here to stay this time because no Patreon
Let’s gooooo!!
Ahhh okay that makes sense, thanks so much for explaining that for me!
I think you'd really enjoy the anime "Backflip" as an athlete yourself
Oooo okay I’ll definitely check it out
The episodes go by so fast. If you've got the time, maybe consider doing a binge of 2/3 episodes in 1 video. Might make it too long or too large a file for TH-cam, but just a thought. I know I almost can't stand just seeing 1 episode at a time. There's a new anime I started watching called "Solo Leveling" and I think it's amazing, but it's so new I have to wait a week for each episode, sometimes 2/3 if they aren't making any that week, and it's so frustrating not being able to just watch it all in 1 sitting. .... Ok, done rambling about other shows, but yeah, maybe 1 day just have like 2/3 videos lined up and release them all at once as a Haikyu binge day 😂
Hahah I was thinking this! Maybe at some key points I will upload some bigger ones together. Thanks so much for being here to watch with me!
@@lachyywhite As someone who both loves this anime, and has played a whole lot of volleyball (beach and rebound beach, sadly didn't get much chance for hardcourt), I relate heaps to watching your videos on this. It's actually quite interesting hearing the stories and perspectives on the sport that I've taken for granted as more natural to me and never actually take the time to think about. Really appreciate these videos and always look forward to the next round.
