Cadman Cranes - What's in our yard? Episode 1: Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 - 110t Mobile Crane

Join Cadman Cranes Managing Director, Matt Waddingham, as he takes a trip into the yard to see an exciting new arrival to our fleet of mobile cranes.
In this Episode, we take a look at the brand new Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 110-tonne All Terrain crane, originally unveiled at the Bauma event in 2019. The five axle LTM 1110-5.1 features an extra-long 60 metre telescopic main boom, one of the longest in its class, along with Liebherr’s trusted VarioBase® Plus support technology.
Liebherr’s VarioBase® (variable support base) is well known to generate exceptional lifting capacities in the areas above the outriggers. However, their engineers went a step further with the new 110-tonne crane seeing the rear outriggers utilise a double stage design and achieving a support width of 8.3 metres. Although only 0.65 metres more than at the front on each side, the increase in performance over the rear outriggers is enormous.
The most notable feature of this new investment is its ability to travel on UK roads complete with its 29-tonne counterweight whilst remaining within STGO regulations, removing the need for any additional ballast transport. “Prepared for every task!” is how Liebherr presented the new LTM 1110-5.1 at the Bauma trade fair last year. The aim for the design of the new 5-axle crane was to enable it to complete jobs economically and flexibly. But, of course, it had to be powerful as well! This is German engineering at its best.

Nice pice of kit. Without looking at the tech specs I imagine it weighs just under a 100 ton. I gather it was one engine for traction and lifting? Must be 6oo hp plus .

Hi there. Surprisingly, the new LTM 1110-5.1 is extremely lightweight with its gross weight being just 48 tonnes and axle loads of less than 10 tonnes. You are correct in saying its a single engine concept which produces 544hp!

@@TheMilbankGroup Hell only 48 tons and low axle weights makes it very usable on unstable surfaces. 544 bhp would make sense as 10 bhp per ton is a common calculation these days. Nice piece of kit and thanks for the info

So together its 77 t.
But to be legal for most roads, it need to be 12t maximum per axle sometimes even 10t.
