- You guys suggested it time and time again so I finally checked out 'Super Mario 63' which is an awesome Mario 64 inspired 2D game made by Runouw! Having never played this fan game before, I had no idea what to expect but what awaited me was something very special!

Just a tip, spin attack has a lot of use on this game so use it a lot. It can be used as Gliding (kinda) , control your jump, kill enemies (including water enemies) and a good combination with Fludd
Totally agree and diving makes you go faster and you look super cool while you do it as well.
You can go insanely fast by diving and then using FLUDD to boost forward.

Yes! Oh my goodness, I played this game so much, it's so amazing. I would LOVE to see more episodes. There are so many amazing levels and shine sprites to collect and it is so fun watching you react with the same amazement I had when I first played it!

We need more episodes on this game please dave! I played this when i was a kid and i had so much fun in my first few playthroughs. Then when i revisited it again a few months ago i did not hav that much as i had when i first picked this game up. Now i can have those memories back by seeing ur reactions. This 100% deserves a complete playthrough! Its not just a 2d mario 64 but a whole lot more and u will see y as u go further! Again please make this into a complete series.

Dave you should really play it till the end. Its a fantastic game full of secrets and even a true ending. And the story is simple but full of emotions. I can't recommend it enough

I remember playing this in the computer lab at school! I think I could never get into the pyramid in SSL for some reason though- either I was an idiot or the game was bugged on the PC i was using idk.
Not a fangame but i was just thinking I'd love to see you play the Paper Mario series! Especially the original, TTYD and Super Paper Mario if you haven't already, but I'd also be interested in The Origami King :)

I love this game. I never finished it but I'm glad you are playing it. It makes me want to finish the game. Unfortunately it is a flash game so it won't be here after flash is gone later this year, unless they recreate as a non-flash game which I hope they do. Anyway, love your videos, keep up the great work, and 80's all the way!!

OMG FINALLY!!! Dave this makes me so happy! I loved this game as a kid and I thought no one knew about it! Many great memories. It’s too bad you missed the dialogue of the toad in the cloud and the cutscene where Mario gets wiped out by kamek. Both amazing parts
The game has an amazing story line, and you have to collect a certain number of star coins and a certain number of shine sprites to unlock a secret stage , that is only accessible after doing all that

This is legit better than a few official mario games (NSMB2). I loved this game as a kid and have beaten it multiple times since, including 100%ing it. I really hope you continue to play through this fully. The final stage is absolutely bonkers good.

There's a lot of movement options - you can hold the spin button to glide in air and just spin across the land, you can repeatedly jump and dive to go really fast, you can spin in water, etc
i have played this game more than ten years ago and i was blown away by its quality and efforts put into it. being a fan game there is not quality content that much. Runouw really did an amazing job with that flash game. Congratz and thanks to him whereever he is now.
By the way. it is a long game (or at least felt that way back then) and have lots of secrets like a mario game should have some are not so easy to find. i don't remember now how many shine sprites you need to collect but i searched some secret ones to complete all sprites.

Oh damn I played this when it came out. This unlocked so many memories. A fan game but it felt like you could honestly pass this off as another game.

That wave during the water/beach level was a stroke of genius. Legit a water version of Mario 2 wind levels and I'm all for that
If you get 32 star coins , explore the extra room that has the big shine sprite and go through the second door at the end of the hall... you unlock a secret.
The music at 10:13 is so nostalgic, I really love the desert theme in mario and luigi partners in time

I cannot say how AMAZING it is to see you do this Dave! Super Mario 63 is one of my favorite games of all time and it's awesome to see you playing it too! I've completed the game to 100% several times and I've actually become a speedrunner of it (Not one of the best by a longshot but I still love improving my time when I can)! And I have to say, it's absolutely worthwhile to play to 100% and to learn all the secrets, tricks, and *spoiler alert* Secret passages in Peach's castle!

I remember playing this game all the time, so I hope I can give you some helpful advice.
There are a lot of hidden entrances and fake walls in the rooms.
If you're ever short on lives, there's a secret stage above the door to the second floor, just jump to access it.
Spinning is really useful in this game, there's so much the game doesn't tell you about it.
I played this all the time as a kid.
This game was my childhood. It gave me the experience that many people got from SM64. It is such a good game. And it's getting a fan sequel approved by the guy who made AM63!

Not spoiling the exact details, but the star coins can unlock a few rooms in the castle (and unlock more stuff to a level creator, yes this game has one). The castle also has some secret rooms and levels. There's 64 sprites and star coins in the game.

the two shine sprites are the ones from the two tutorials levels and are very easy!

I'm so happy that this game is finally getting rediscovered. It's easily the best fangame ever made, and it was completely forgotten for so long.
I usually don't like the "fan made games" but this one was extremely well done and I'm really hoping for a part 2

Also a few secret moves are the run, backflip and dive. Double tap to run. Jump then crouch to dive. And crouch them jump to backflip. Plus, hold spin to slow midair descent.

OMG I REMEMBERED PLAYING THIS BACK IN 2010-ISH. You know how that era was when random online games thrived aka Super Granny and the like...so I got bored to play that and decided to look for any interesting online games and I stumbled upon this AND IT WAS THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I was only 8 and the memories and nostalgia watching this omg...I didn't even realize it was only a fan-made game...the graphics and the HIDDEN passages MY GOD that was the best part!

Hello DGR. I play this game a lot of times before and it's awesome! But in the castle you can collect a lot of more shinies. (in 1st level you collect 1 but there are 5) - in each level there are more shinies. When you get back to the castle chech it out because you will lose a lot of fun and levels. Good luck my friend! MINI SPOILER: BTW there are something on the castle (outside) and on the right side (outside). Maybe on the left side (outside) too I think.

Super Mario 63 is my favorite game of all time. It's really long and hard, but worth it. There is also a lot of secrets as well!
