      Good to know! I'd prefer spring, but since I kept this one indoor it was fine in November as well.

    With these roots, I have a couple that are “root over rock”. They give off a robust, gigantic tree look. Also…remember that when you prune these trees, they “bleed” a white, sticky sap. I have a paper towel with me to dab the sap. It helps stop the sap and heal the cut faster!

    Класс! Я увидела, насколько мощная корневая система у деревца, и какой маленький объем грунта для питания. Спасибо за наглядный урок, мастер! ❤

    Hi. I noticed moss in the original pot. Did it grow there on its own, or did you add it? I have several ficus like the one you featured in this video.

      This happened to my first ficus. I got it at a nursery that had high humidity and a temperature of about 80 degrees. Perfect for ficus.
      I was told if I want to have a healthy ficus that I should keep it outside in the summer months on reddit. I warned them that it was 110 degrees out in Texas where I lived. Bit the reddit people assured me it was better than indoors.
      But I actually shocked my ficus to death. As it turns out, though they are hard to kill oncd established, ficus greatly dislike changing their environment, to the point that they can actually be quite fragile in the first few weeks when you get them. When you first get a ficus you should focus on acclimating it to your new environment. No repottinf, no pruning, no wiring. Just let it adjust. Remember the conditions it was thriving in before you bought it. Try to get as close to those conditions as possible. Ovet the coming weeks gradually change it's environment in baby steps to the new environment youd like it to live in. Right now may, imay be too hot or too cold, or maybe it's not getting as much light as it's used to. It could be like my case where it was getting TOO much light.
      It is normal for a ficus to drop as much as a quarter of its leaves to stressful environmental shifts. But if it loses all of its leaves this is a sign that you have gone a bit too far in changing its environment. Cut back on the change and get it in its acclimated conditions. Let it recover for a few weeks.

      I own many ficus bonsai, one of which is 66 years old. I purchased it in 1993 and it is as happy as it was the day I bought it. I live in a very cold climate and keep my ficus trees in a south-facing room during the winter. After summer and fall, they come indoors and slowly begin dropping some leaves because of lower light levels. It is normal. I water daily year-round and fertilize in the warmer months. In the early spring, your tree will (hopefully) sprout new leaves. I pinch some back to encourage even more, smaller leaves.

    should we just start pruning based on our imagination, fillings? Or should we follow the approach "start pruning from the lower branches and move branch-by-branch to the top, and only then decide what height we now expect to see: as we wanted or lower/higher"?

    How old is this video, if u say it's November but November in what year?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the dates show in the shots of the tree at the end? This was done last November. The last update in the video was shot last month (a quick update shot with the white sweater).
