I did something like this a while back, but what I did was I went to the dollar tree and bought a pack or birthday hats, and opened one up to use as a template :)

Thanks for this tutorial. Unlike other comments, I needed to know this information not for a school project, but so I could make a dunce hat and put myself in a corner for 30 mins. I was told the scientific name of a certain species of spider and thought the person telling me the information was lying to me. I then wrongly assumed he was lying, and upon further research, he was not lying, and I wrongly assumed he was. Because of this blatant display of ignorance, the only way to be rid of my shame is to make a dunce hat, and sit in a corner for 30 minutes. Again, thank you for this tutorial, it's been ages since I've done any crafty stuff. Good day to you, and best wishes.

What exactly do you mean? This IS the easiest way unless you want to spend the money to buy one already made. Prepare to not find any cheap ones.

+kaneena jackson All you need is a larger piece of poster board and a longer string. You can tape pieces of poster board together, which you won't see when you decorate it.
