You totally got it. The instructions they got from Metallica when invited to provide a cover for the Blacklist album, was to take a song from the Black album, turn it upside or inside out and make it their own. The Warning (with Alessia Cara) were one of the few 50 or so artists on that album to go this far, while still paying homage to the original. And they completed the project with about a 10 d deadline! 👍😎
The song was completed within 1 week, on the pandemic, and with Alessia in Canada and the sisters in their hometown, Monterrey. Anyone would think that it was a recipe for a disaster. Thankfully, the four girls are true artists and gave us this amazing version of a classic.
@@PassengerMX disc 1, track 1...the coveted spot...and it's soooooo damn good. After 30+ years of the original, the new arrangement is so fresh and new.
@@nbrowser But even if it wasn't so great it still would have been disc 1, track 1. The reason is that Enter Sandman is track 1 on the original album and all versions of all songs on this album were placed in alphabetical order. If it wasn't for Alessia ( _spelled with an A in the beginning ) their version would have been the last version of ES on this anniversary album. Do you understand?
That's not true. There is no alphabetical order, neither for the songs nor for the artists. It's simply sorted by song. So first all the versions of Enter Sandman, then all the versions of Sad But True and so on. That's it. Did you understand that?
The ladies re-invented Enter Sandman like it has never been done before...Thanks Daniel, probably one of the very best "covers" of this song ever done, this is talent overload right here....Rock on The Warning....TWA 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Easily my favorite version of "Enter Sandman". The Warning are masters at building tenson and anticipation. Their harmonies are incredible. I vote for their first music video, XXI Century Blood, for a future reaction. That song is the title track of their first album and the music video won a few awards.
It’s a great reimagining of a classic. I’m generally a fan of live performance over music videos. But, in this case, you should also see the official music video. Without giving too much away, Alessia Cara is there “in spirit” and it includes a unique take on “the prayer” section of the song. Great cinematography too.
Imagine being at this specific performance! EPIC Somebody said this version is an homage to the original. I agree. So dark. So heavy. TW music vids are great but, these ladies absolutely kick ass live! Their Teatro Metropolitan CDMX show, end to end, just takes your breath away.
Yep, very definitely their own, and it's what I think of as Enter Sandman. They added something even more to it this year in Monterrey and Mexico City when they added a small string ensemble. Pau first played Black Holes solo on keys with the string backing (the keyboard looks like a grand piano but is actually just a shell around an electronic keyboard). While the keyboard was removed from the stage, the ensemble played a short interlude that led into this as Dany and Ale re-entered the stage, and the strings continued to support the performance. It was neither schmaltzy nor bombastic, and it definitely added to the song. In Mexico City, Pau added Breathe, a song she had said she intended not to play live as it's very personal to her, between Black Holes and the interlude. Dany, Pau, and Ale being who they are as people, they introduced and thanked the string players on stage after the song.
This was the reimagined version of the song for the 30th anniversary of the Black List Album in Wich they as well as Alessia Cara and others 52 artists of different genres were invited to ti choose a song from the album and do whatever they wanted to it that makes it their Own, Allowed/asked for Metallica itself and sincerely it's the best version on the album
By the way, that awesome guitar Dany was playing was given to her personally by Lizzy Hale in Dallas, Texas while The Warning was touring with Halestorm!
Welcome to The Warning Army, you have enlisted and joined the family!! I have learned thru experience, the more one listens to TW the more amazed one is!!! The cherry on top: they are wonderful, humble, kind human beings!!!❤️👏⚡️
Like @ivanguerrero7934 explained, this was them doing exactly what Metallica asked. I only hear this version now in my head when I think of Enter Sandman. It's really a duet between Dany and Pau and you hit on it. Their harmonies are awesome. Magical. Bone chillingly beautiful. You get the angst of the original intent within the song in incredible vocals that are actually more haunting to me than the original. The OMV is awesome too but I prefer the live version with just Dany, Pau and Ale. It just hits harder.
They have like 5 versions of this song now. Last month they did 2 shows with a string section from a symphony backing them on this and a couple of other songs. I bet there never has been a younger rock band to play with s symphony
Hell yeah! Their arrangement is genius, IMO. It's so different, but also instantly recognizable as Enter Sandman. I love how they build from start to finish. The first verse, kinda light, is sung over single-picked notes, the 2nd verse is sung over power chords.. a bit heaver.. Then they drop way back for the prayer and start building it up again until BAM! The iconic riff at the end. It's so great that I didn't realize they didn't start off with the iconic riff when I first heard this version. lol. And yeah, the harmonies... next level. Pure genius.
Yeah it leaves most people speechless.. I've heard it 100+ times and it has the same effect, every time.. Martirio is another one that leaves me speechless. It's in Spanish and I don't speak Spanish but that song gets me teary eyed.. TWA🤟🎶☮️
Beyond the sheer creativity - incorporating Alessia's voice and style + reversing the chord arrangement - the other challenges of this song's creation are amazing. This was created during the pandemic's travel restrictions, so The Warning was stuck in Mexico and Alessia was stuck in Canada; this was created via online meetings, and they had to deliver it finished (mixed and mastered) in about 10 days. And oh yeah, The Warning had never met Alessia before and had never collaborated with another artist for a song before - I like to think all these extra challenges were like high pressure that creates diamonds, maybe the song would have been a lot different otherwise.
With only a weeks notice the band created this arrangement, recorded and mixed it, and submitted for inclusion on Metallica's covers album, the Blacklist. It wound up as the opening track. The cajones it took for them to soften up the most well-known metal song of all time, for use on an authorized Metallica covers album no less, is impressive. The album version is even softer in some ways than this live version.
Yeah, dude. I think all of us figured you would like this one. Nice contrast between old and new, eh? I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, and the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one. Dany playing the Explorer that Lzzy Hale presented to her during a show in TX summer of 2022 when they were on tour together. The harmonies are fantastic. I continue to think that they use their voices as a 4th instrument (think about their harmonies as a keyboard part. It so fits)
I've heard several songs from the Blacklist album, and this is the best rendition of a song on it. Also, you might want to check out the studio version and the music video. This was a collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara.
I have really enjoyed watching you experience these songs for the first time, and I can't wait to see your reactions to "Choke," "Evolve," and my personal favorite "Animosity." Also, side note... "Matirio" at the Teatro Metropolitan was straight fire too.
Just goes to show that their talent is boundless. They're going places everybody. The road is open and they can drive 55 (or as fast as they want)! Somebody will get the Sammy Hagar reference, I'm sure. 😉
TW made ES their own! Metallica wasn't going to argue with these ladies either. I'm sure others have already said it, but check out any of the 22 songs from this amazing Pro-Shot show. From soft to rock your face off. Let us know what you want, and we can make a suggestion. Glad you liked this one, your now among many others that do. 🤘⚡🤘
Since you love the harmonies, here's something super specific: my favourite part of this song (and only in this version) is the slight change in harmony on "hand" in the final chorus!
I’m a relative newcomer to discovering The Warning. I was equally impressed and blown away by their take on this song…they completely reinvented it! I grew up in the late 70’s into the 80’s with Van Halen. Among their impressive catalogue was their ability to make covers entirely their own, they “Van Halenized” them! Well, these talented young ladies remind me very much of that. This is Enter Sandman…The Warniningized!
WOW you are the best reactor I have ever heard, you always have the right words that a subscriber wants to hear, congratulations and keep on this journey with the best rock band. The Warning
Love your house renovation comparison totally nails it well done. For me the harmonies are next level awesome on this reimagined version. Having Alessia Cara's vocals from the MV was a brilliant move by TW for live shows they always name her at the beginning. Enter Sandman is a classic and now it's a Warning masterpiece. They give respect to Metallica at the end by killing their iconic riff and sound DPA are incredible. Thanks you rock dude love your reactions TWA will be with you all the way through your journey. 🤟⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡
The girls from The Warning are so brilliant that they were invited to do a version of Enter Sandmam and ended up doing Enter Sandmam 2... They turned a rock classic into another rock classic.
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale and Pau join in with their angelic harmonies... it is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets a lot(!) more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
You should also watch the music video with Alyssia Cara. It is visually hypnotic, and the harmonies are much more pronounced. Also, Pau does the little boy chant and is seductive in how she did it.
I just saw them yesterday at a Festival in Puebla, Mexico called TECATE COMUNA and I was blown away!! I can´t recover yet!! Seeing them live is an out-of-this-world experience!! OMG!! First of all, they are so BEAUTIFUL!! I knew it because I´m a TW Army but in person, they look like porcelain dolls, the energy they have, the songs, EVERYTHING!! I´m so happy I got to see them 😍🥰😭😭😭😭 plus, they played Enter Sandman and I almost fainted!! I´m so happy I want to cry!!
Yon may or may not know since you did not do the music video, Alessia Cara collaborated with them on this version. That is Alessia on the backing track doing the "whoa whoa whoa" part. Yes they did this song justice and Metallica liked it so much they put it as the first song on the Blacklist album. Great reaction. Can't wait for your next. Welcome to the TWA family. 😀
Very interesting way to compare a old classic iconic song. They did exactly what you said. Thanks man,🤟 what a about their own material!! Maybe " hell you called a dream " .
y si te gusto tanto esta version, espera a ver el arreglo con violines y cello que se aventaron en su ultimo concierto en el Pepsi center em CDMX, saludos
Awesome reaction man, so glad you enjoyed their take on a classic! You certainly have been Warned ... trouble is, when you have, you can't stop!!! Enjoy the rabbit hole ... love TWA⚡UK

We love your reaction to this special Enter Sandman outfit! Metallica invited them to participate in their Blacklist Album and asked them to do it their way! This is the result! It is so cool of metallica to have written such a great song for The Warning :)
Yup, they did the skeleton 🩻🦴, the girls filled up the gaps
🤣🤘
oh HELL yeah
Well, they do already know a bit about writing amazing songs on their own.😏
Exactly the way I feel about it. This song belongs to The Warning now.
They made this song their own and I'm not far from thinking that this cover is better than the original
There are now two official versions of Enter Sandman. Metallica and The Warning.
You totally got it. This is how you take a cover song and make it your own! And they did this on just seven days notice! Amazing band!
Great reaction as always keep The Warning coming brother!

TW's version of Enter Sandman is one of the most epic live rock performances on youtube, certainly of the past 10 years.
Ear candy!!
It's undeniably Metallica and undeniably The Warning. That's how a cover should be done.

That first one 10 years ago was a cover, the one with Alessia Cara was a cover rearranged slightly, this one is theirs pure and simple.
Great reaction, your thoughts matched mine exactly with this one!
I ❤ The Warning 🎶🎶
Great redo of one of Metallica's most renowned songs. But, oh yeah! They can play the original riff too!!!

Awesome reaction 😊
Metallica gave them one week to make that version for the Black List Album.
XXI century blood for the music video definitely but you should for sure check out the song narcisista from this same concert if you enjoy the drummer Pau singing
This song used to belong to Metallica, now it belongs to the Warning!
Go back to kids again with Survive from the Ted Talk. Then Narcisista from the Monterrey show.
"FEAR THE TURTLE!!"
Just watched ETS21 video on time travel and then u put a video up the same video as last time but 10+ years later is that not time travel lol
you have been warned!
Locura!!! Al parecer fueron las unicas que entendieron lo que pidio Metallica, la "WARNINGLIARON", aun con la presencia de Alessia Cara
Ensamble de cuerdas, dale un vistazo a esta canción en el Pepsi Center, octubre 28, 2023
gr8 reaction ... r0ck 0n ... \m/
Paulina has the drum kit at 11? Probably also has a built in atomic clock? Epic thumping.
You have be warned
Now watch the band Liliac do the same song!
Its at best an attempt at a cover of the song and they are not inn the same league vocally as these ladies are. Also what song did Liliac do on the anniversary album?
... a petrolhead would call it " restomod "
Nope. TEATRO METROPOLITAN.
Not MetropolitanO

Tengo que praticar mi Español. Solo habla ingles en mi casa.
It's definitely not a cover!
Enter Sandman un cover original de The Warning y el mejor tema del BkackList de Metallica ,The Warning y su poderoso rock
