Mattias Ekström tears up The Streif at the wheel of an Audi E-Tron technology demonstrator. The Streif is one of the most dangerous and challenging ski slopes in the world, but the views up on top are so worth it. Where's the most beautiful place you've driven up so far?
Great car, cool tech and beautiful design! Nice place, good sportsmen and what not. Simply everything looks good until you bore people with the " dangerous, risky.. " part by taking it too long and seriously. It was totally safe and there was not even the level of danger what people face in day to day traffic. Ask 10 people on the street and I bet at least 3-5 of them would give it a go in that car up that hill. Heavy car... so? Good old Audi will use some random line that might not carry the weight? Also, I did not get this " The Streif is one of the most dangerous and challenging ski slopes in the world, but the views up on top are so worth it. " sentence. Is it worth going skiing there? is it worth to take a visit there to see the view? Is it worth to test stuff there? The view is worth dealing with the challenging dangerous slopes? who goes skiing challenging slopes for the sake of the view? questions questions..
CaptainDad Plus shifting, traction and many other variables. I would love to see someone try to take their Honda Civic up that hill. They can barely make up the steeper hills in San Francisco. Also, wouldn’t it be throttle not gas. Probably wrong terminology on my end.
Pfff took ages and in the last frames you see a lifeline. Nah not that special. Red Bull should start worrying about the health issues they create in society with that horrible drink.
I’ve actually skied down this exact mountain in Austria and it’s a lot steeper when your looking down from the top, it’s damn impressive for a car to be able to climb up it
2:352:49 I like these views, since when you see World Cup races on TV, the courses look so flat. Not nearly as steep as they really are! This really lets you feel the nerve and skill the racers must have to compete on such insane courses.
OMG the whiners complaining about it being lame or too long. Learn how to use the slider at the bottom of the TH-cam video and drag it to the right if you just want to see how it ends. But you better not go to a baseball/hockey/football/basketball/soccer game if you you are really that much of an instant gratification impatient person. Just stay home for the score or highlights. If you just want to see an overpowered ultra traction vehicle chew up some steep slope then go watch Pikes Peak Hill Climb or some other event where they have zero regard for what they do to equipment, the hill or the people involved. Some of us actually WANT to see what goes into the whole process. Some of us actually downhill ski and have a real appreciation of how steep this is. Some of us actually watch world cup skiing and have an appreciation for how challenging Kitzbühel is. Some of us appreciate that Audi and Red Bull sponsor world cup ski racing so that we can enjoy watching it. If its longer than your very short attention span can handle, then go watch something else. Thank you Red Bull. Thank you Audi. Great video.
Oh my god what an incredible feat of athleticism. Did he have to put the car in gear *and* hit the gas pedal, *and* hold the steering wheel in one position? That's crazy. I don't know how he accomplished it. Next up, Red Bull sponsors an extreme athlete driving to the store for cigarettes.
Ok so all that for 1 minute of glory. Well, still it was a great watch. I like this one and the one with the SUV climbing the stairs in China (cant remember the name of the place). More balls than I have.
Because in Germany, where the car is registered, most inner cities only allow in cars with this badge. It confirmed that they are at least as environmentally friendly as a Diesel complying with EU 4. And since some guys even LS-swap Teslas, even EVs need this badge.
Thats a pretty good example of how you can make it look a like. In the scenes when going up the camera was tilted m, so that it looks steeper then it really is. You can see that on the trees in the background. A good example of how Audi is trying to keep its image 😂👍
Everyone criticizing him. But it is hard, Man, it has an 85° angled steep and full of snow.(your seating position would be like lying on the bed approx) And that isn't a tow line.(it's a safety harness to prevent flipping of the car) If you slow down or lose control of the steering, you will lose traction. Now it's easy nah ?!!
what degree is the slope at thats super steep looking close to 60 degrees or more?? can anybody help me if they know? thanks in advance... this is an awesome video thanks to audi and all those putting in the hours or preparation getting ready, and of course the course climbers that is scary.. imaging slipping and sliding down the entire slope.. haha love to know how steep that is.. -peter
for the folks that think this accomplishment is lame (it's unnecessarily drawn out): go stand at the top of that slope and envision a car driving up the hill. unimaginable.
Very good... But misleading. 85% slope implies its nearly vertical (ie 90 degrees).... When in reality 85% slope is less than 45 degrees. So basically the same as an average staircase.
Drew Willcock thats why it‘s percent and not degrees. 100% = 1 -> Slope rises 1 m vertically for each m horizontally -> 45 degrees 85% -> 0.85 m per horizontal m :) Try it out though, 45 degrees feels steeper than the number implies.
Did anyone who is commenting on my first post not read it. In simple terms..... Impressive stunt but the wording implies its a steeper slope than it actually is. In fact, even the camera angle is adjusted to make it look steeper. That is all. No need to discuss the whys and wherefores of % vs Degrees.
the steepest part is actually never skied in the race, as the racers tend to jump up to 80 meters (262 feet) into the less steep part of the "mausefalle" The challenging parts are: 1. balanced body position in the air 2. handling the compression when the slope flattens out

I wanted to ski streif 5 days ago when I was on vacation, I only did the first part but because it was so icy and steep I stopped

A 12 minute video and about 10 seconds of something actually worth watching.
And as always, it's money that ruins the fun. Red Bull wants to make a video longer than 10 minutes because that means more ad-revenue.
Now they only need some annoying dude to beg for subscribers and likes for the first minute of the video.
Feel the spirit of Red Bull video )

Thats redbull😂
you cant just take a car and drive up a hill its not that easy....
literally takes car and drives up hill..... its that easy
Richard Mattison The power of thousands of hours of experience...
seriously!!! Is it really that hard to push a god damn gas pedal for ten seconds
@HetShotNet The only hard thing here is the prep! After the car is prepared it´s iterally just drive the car up the hill

No, you'd choose the wrong line of speed and just fall😂
Still you would need this car to do it :)
If you pull my Fiat 500 with a rope. It can do an uphill too
Supposedly the rope wasn't pulling. It was there for safety to stop the car in case it lost traction and started sliding down the mountain.

If you put studded tires on it like they did for this, it might do it without the rope.
