New Jersey Bone Marrow Transplant Recipient Meets Her Match

- After being diagnosed with a high-risk form of acute myeloid leukemia, doctors at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey quickly realized that Toms River resident Lael McGrath would need a stem cell transplant. Since none of Lael's family members were a match, she was registered with Be The Match. Through that National Marrow Donor Program, her ideal match was located in Germany - half a world away.
Nearly three years post-transplant, Lael was finally able to thank her donor face-to-face during a heart-warming ceremony at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where the transplant took place.
I am a grown Man and can not help but to tear up at all of these wonderful stories. I am too old to donate and not happy about that, but those who can should, to be able to give the gift of Life.
Donating whole blood saves three lives on average. You could make this happen too!
I donate whole blood every 56 days. Where I live you have to wait 56 days before you can donate again but the day I'm eligible I'm there at 9am when they open ready to donate.
Our son on October 4th Did a Stem Cell Donation. He saved a life and he signed up on Be the Match. 2018 was when he signed up. He was a big Andrew Smith fan from Butler. Andrew Passed away and Thats when our son signed up.
I recently signed up to become a bone marrow donor and I really hope I become a match for someone
as a patient that received a life saving bone marrow transplant I cant thank you enough and hope you'll be able to help somebody in need

I guess I'm gonna need to put Kleenex on my shopping list, since I just used the box I had.

As stupid as this sounds, but these acts of kindness build international friendships which is so much needed nowadays, in a world full of misconceptions and misunderstanding.

@@schablone35 Deutschland hat die weltweit größte Spenderdatei, weswegen die meisten Knochenmarkspenden aus Deutschland kommen :)
