Really enjoyed this video i will be referring to this when I refresh my borders. Your love of plants/gardening really shines through. A real pleasure to watch. Thank you for 😊😊😊😊
I loved that video Paul, would love to see more of this kind. It reminds me of some of Rosy Hardy gardening but it's always interesting to see and hear what each one of you recommend :) I also liked seeing some of the plants behind in your garden visually mingling with your selection, it made me think ! I liked the idea of grouping but I also love having "all the plants" so I'm not there yet ^^' Also, I have some borders that you can watch from one side or the other (for example the one flanking my terrace/deck that is also visible from the garden...and for this I'm still wondering if I prefer to put the more height near the terrace or in the center of the border...
Thanks so much, it's certainly a compliment to be likened to Rosie Hardy! We follow her too! We've just put on the august tour so you'll see more the other plants in the background with Andrew :) Central borders which are viewed from different angles can be tricky. I would place the plants out in the two ways you're thinking and take photos of each and look from all angles and when you're happy, then plant 😀
Saved in my YT Gardening section👍 You've probably unknowingly just shred my potted/planted yard to pieces 🤣 I see where you're coming from when you put the red Salvia in front of the tabled ones, this is what I meant in my earlier reply on another vlog when I said my lily pot probably won't stay as I felt it upset the balance I wanted on my cold frame revamp. My Ech.Ritro Veitch would be better in there but it's happy where it is, also, it has a Verbena 'candy cane' in the tub and that might be too vibrant for the look I wanted . I can also see Andrews point of view too though 👍 Thank you for sharing, very helpful. Take care 😃👍
Thanks Richy! Gardening is very personal and we all have different tastes when it comes to colour and what we like to grow. It’s been years of compromise with Andrew and I because he likes a riot and I like some kind or order. Luckily we both love perennials so most of our garden is what we both like to grow and he has some lively colours dotted around too. In the front container we have with our rose in, I feel the yellow poppy we have is a bit like you describe your verbena in your pot, but Andrew wanted to have it like this so it stays (for now!). As I said in the other reply, please let us know the link again so we see your new uploads. 😀👍
@@MadAboutGardening "Visible" Just added a 2yr old pic of an insect house I made from old timber etc too, not sure if anything except spiders have used it 🤔 Yes, it's all about compromise for you both but from what you've shown us, you both do a fantastic job and have inspired me in some of the plant's I've bought this year, thank you both👍👍 I still think my Ritro would look nice with the grasses n flowers i bought yesterday but not altering anything until my 2 days off, Mon/Tues. I did place the new plants, sort of tall at the back, smaller near the font but it was for 2 reasons, 1) so I wouldn't keep brushing against some when I walk past and 2) A light dependancy issue, on the right it gets more sun than the back wall corner. 23:00 and still things to do so, take care 😃👍
@@martianleaderrichy1520 Thanks Richy, the insect house is great and looks perfect for all manner of insects. We’re glad we’ve been able to encourage you to grow new things, and some plants you’ve grown years ago too. You’re arrangement of the new plants is perfect. It’s great to come home from work and immerse yourself in the garden. I find it takes away all the stresses of the day and helps to unwind. Have a great weekend, take care 😀👍
@@MadAboutGardening Many shop bought insect houses looked like little novelty things so i got ideas from the ones I saw and googled, compiled my findings and made mine from free timber etc 😀 I'll unwind and relax more when I finish planting. I have to stop buying plants now but I would love a couple of Eryngium giganteum next year😎 I'm going to put strawberries all along the shelf above the new plants, got lots from runners 😀The Liatris Spicata, I liked it because it's different but the longer I have it, I now think it's Awesome and there is a white one too, solid stem, 'Kobold' is the one I have but 'Alba' would look nice too next year 👍Monday off, dead heading time too 🤣Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend, happy gardening you both 😀👍
@martianleaderrichy1520 You did a good job 👏. We haven't grown E giganteum before but have seen it out and about and it's a great one. We got a strawberry plant today, one with pink flowers called Symphony as ours have pretty much finished in the garden akd this had loads of flowers to come. No runners as yet but will be propagating if it produces them. The Liatris you have is lovely and the white would be good too 👍. It's been raining here this afternoon but it gives us a day off watering. Have a good day off tomorrow and take care 🙂 👍
I just wanted to thank you both for you amazing content. Ive been scrolling through for only an hour and gained lots of valuable advice x
That's so lovely of you to say! Thanks so much for watching our videos, we're so glad that you are enjoying them 😀
That was very helpful Paul. You explain things really well. xxx
Thanks Wendy, I've been meaning to do a video about this but wanted to wait until I had the variety of plants at hand to demonstrate xxx
That was grand! Thanks soooo much
Thanks Margaret, glad you enjoyed it 😀
