- Trekking to Gosaikunda Lake | Our Adventure in Rasuwa, Nepal
Welcome to our amazing journey to the holy Gosaikunda Lake, in the Rasuwa district of Nepal! Join us as we hike through beautiful landscapes, walk tough trails, and learn about the cultural and religious importance of this special place.
Itinerary:
Day 1: We took a 6-hour bus ride to Dhunche, then trekked for 4 hours to Deurali, where we stayed at a cozy lodge.
Day 2: This was the hardest part of our trek. We hiked for 9 hours on a difficult path to reach Lauribina, which is at an altitude of about 3,900 meters (12,795 ft).
Day 3: The best day of our journey! We trekked up to Gosaikunda Lake, at an altitude of 4,380 meters (14,370 ft). The views were amazing, and we took a dip in the holy waters. Later that day, we started our hike back down to Deurali.
Day 4: We trekked for about 3 hours to Dhunche, then took a bus back to Kathmandu.
About Gosaikunda Lake:
Gosaikunda Lake is a beautiful high-altitude lake in Langtang National Park. It is surrounded by tall mountains and offers amazing views.
Religious Importance:
Gosaikunda is very important for Hindu people. According to Hindu stories, the lake was made by Lord Shiva. He used his trident to make water come out of the mountain to cool his burning throat after drinking poison. The lake is a popular pilgrimage site, especially during the festival of Janai Purnima in August. Many people visit to bathe in the holy waters, which they believe can cleanse sins and purify the soul.
